Apparently the stars in your sig follow the following pattern...

0-49 - No stars
50-499 -1 star
500-4999 - 2 stars
5000+ - 3 stars
Mod - 4 stars
Admin - 5 stars

To me it seems that this doesn't scale too well. Getting your first star is pretty darn easy... Your second star shouldn't be too hard if you are a pretty regular poster...
But the gap between 2 and 3 stars seems to be a pretty large one.

Maybe you could re-org the star system so that gaining new star levels isn't quite so hard after you've hit your second star... Maybe after 1000 you get a third, or even 2000... But 5000 is a lot of posts, no matter how you look at it...

Just a suggestion...

That's the whole point. Since we're restricted to only 5 stars we only have so much room to play with. The lower you set it, the easier it is to attain the rank.

It might seem very high now, but we've already got a number of posters in the 2000-3000 post bracket (2 over 4000). With Episode 2 coming next year and with the boards likely to receive a huge surge in traffic as it did with Episode 1, the 5000 posts required for the 3 star rank isn't going to look so big.

It looks big, but it's got to keep us going right up until Episode 3.

I don't think 5000 posts will look so big by then. :)

I like it. 1 shows you post, 2 shows you are reasonably regular, 3 means you are a pretty intense poster :)

I didn't realize that you were restricted to only 5 stars. I had figured you could add a few stars and make some different levels that were a little more attainable... I'm betting you are right though - when Ep II comes out, things will probably really pick up around here and the post levels probably won't seem like that big of a deal to get to...
