That's not Starcraft. All your Base has been going around the net since like... '96 or something. The game it's from was from the mid-80's, and was the proud owner of the worst japanese-english text translation a game's ever seen.

Starcraft is one of the Greatest.
Total Annihalation was confusing, with the downloaded units.
I don't have an opinion on Homeworld, or Ground Control, but C&C games are also Excellent.
I also like Warcraft and SWGBG.

No big deal. You keep up with the Joneses, thats why its fun :)

Not to mention, they had about 3 gazillion different units, and being able to plan for every contingency was IMPOSSIBLE :)

Also...you could effectively create a true nuclear war in that game, instead of rare nuke usage in the other games.

My favorite strategy was to create a powerful navy, force bottlenecks over any disputed ground territory, and force my opponent into an air war, which my navy and ground anti-air network can easily handle.

Then later on...either send 20 ICBM's into their territory....or Krogoth :) either way....they're screwed.

The company went belly up making weekly units.
It was a shame, because except for the unit overkill, It was a great game.

Cavedog was making a really neat game called Amen with completely dynamic lighting, extensive scripting support and a bit of a different ammunition/item handling system. The screenshots from the game were absolutely impressive but the publisher wussed out on what looked to be a very complete and unique game.
