Lucas has moved from just out of the top 100 richest people in America to the 60th richest person in the country!
While the entire 400 list lost more than $200 billion in wealth and the average declined, as well as the lowest entry ($600 million, down $150 million), Lucas actually raised his wealth.
The advantage of having a private company such as Lucasfilm is obviously that a bad economy really has very little effect on him. The entertainment industry is always strong and right now the movie industry is still extremely strong, despite a lackluster economy.
Lucas moved from $2.5 billion last year, already awesome, to $3 billion this year.
I would say just wait until the NEXT rankings come out! He's easily going to gain another $500 to $750 million and that will push him into the top 45 or so maybe. After all of the prequels are done, he could really be up there. Very impressive indeed. :)
