Just read the worlds first XP system was sold in New Zealand.

I know that there are a few others here who took my advice and went to a XP RC just to try it out. And not a single person says anything else other than it rocks.

Well, one month+ on since I installed. NO crashes. Not a hint of trouble. It plain WORKS.

Skinable, hackable, fun to use and easy too. If you use 98 / ME, seriously think about the upgrade.

XP rules something fierce

>_< All I know is that Windows 98 sucks! It's hard to start up/shut down and all sorts of other bugs.

I use Win98. Not that bad. Could be better, but could be worse

Do you have to reinstall all of your drivers w/ XP or does it work w/ the same ones as 98?

Mostly the same ones. The only things I can't get to work are my CD burner software (adaptec) and my printer (HP officejet 700).

I'm gonna look up for updated drivers to see if I can get my printer running...but as far as adaptec....I'll just bootleg Nero from somebody. Besides, win media player 8.0 has a burn utility with it :)

I just got XP as well. I must say that Microsoft did a good job on it. I like it a lot.

Nero owns EZ CD.

Actually, XP is nearly identical to 2k, except it runs everything I've thrown at it, including Homeworld (which I could not get to run in 2k to save my life.)

Well, XP is faster, is more stable, is skinnable, is more configurable and just plain does more. It is also tunable to blazes.

Shoulda heard what LL said when I told him WMP had inbuilt CD burning for music. Can say it here, not printable :)

W2K is pretty good and to be hinest, XP is not a lot different. But there is a lot of detail work that has been done and that makes XP sooooooo nice

I got everything running on it so far, including homeworld. you can tell proggies that you are using 95 or 98, so i would say yes.

But what about the hardware locking stuff they put into XP. Did they end up putting it in or did they leave it out?

As a person who at the moment is regularly updating his computer, I don't want to have to ring up Microsoft every week just because I installed some new hardware. :\

How much it cost?

Davw, you can look around on irc.dalnet.net and find a version of the corporate... no activation or hardware tagging.
