I just heard that that they were going to reshoot the sequence shown in the Spiderman trailer.
It shows the bad guys getting away ina helicopter after robbing a bank.
While flying away they get caught in a huge spider web that is spun between the Twin Towers.
Do you think they should reshoot it or leave it in?

I hope they leave it in. Too often things are forgotten as time passes. Everytime we see them in a movie or in a picture we will remember the lives lost and that we can never allow it to happen again.

i agree that they should keep it in for the same reasons that jades dark heart mentions.

I don't think (that's just me) that they'll use that sequence in the movie...I guess it's just a teaser trailer.

Movies lately are known to do that...shoot stuff only for the teaser trailer. The first I recall was Twister, where you could see that big truck wheel coming straight at the camera. I later heard that was just part of a screen test. Oh, well, Terminator 2 did the same thing for the TT (the one assembling the robots).

I agree with Greg. Leave it in and I think we should level Palestine in retaliation, shut our borders to those frucks, and to any of those shets that give us backtalk, take away their visas and give 'em the boot.
To hell with free speech for them. America is for americans and Spidey is all-American.
Leave the towers in and always digitally composite them into the NY skyline.

My understanding of that sequence is that is was shot specifically for use as a trailer and is not part of the movie itself. Though I could be wrong.

"America is for americans..."

Dude, the United States is an immigrant country. Always has been. Unless you are Native American, you or your family came through the borders as an immigrant at one time. No different than "those frucks" you want to lock out now.

Trailer or not there still has to be footage in the movie of the twin towers that was already shot. Spiderman and NYC are like Batman and Gotham City. I would highly doubt that they did not have a skyline with the twin towers showing up. If they leave it in, this is their chance to dedicate the movie to NYC and all people involved in the disasters.

However, it will always be a soar reminder to those who have lost people that were close to them.

Maybe they are better off taking a poll.

My best friend in LA worked on the Spider man film and was an extra in the wrestling match. He told me that what you see in the trailer is not in the movie. It was the first of a series of trailers that will roll on as we near the opening of the movie later next year. I hope it was just a trailer, because if they want to makes us believe that spider man can have enough spider web to make that big ass web that can hold an helicopter and it's tripulants, then this movie is gonna suck so bad and just be another 2 hour long toy comercial.

I think you're right that the trailer footage will not be in the actual movie.
But like stated above, I'm sure there is some shot in the movie that will show either the skyline or a more close up shot of downtown.
I feel they should leave it in either way.

While we're on the subject, do you think they will rebuild in some way the twin towers?
Maybe with a memorial monument at the bottom?

A memorial would be a great idea.

I would think they would almost have to edit around this. Studios wouldnt want people to feel this grief watching a film every time Spidey goes swinging through the city.

GuntahKela, contrary to what your friend the extra said, The scene was going to be in the movie. Sam Raimi has even said so. And of course Today in the LA times it is said
Sony, meanwhile, recalled a trailer for its big-budget action film "Spider-Man" that contains a familiar image of the World Trade Center's twin skyscrapers. A studio spokeswoman said the shot of the towers is not in the movie, which will open next year.
Either was it looks like it is being pulled.

Official Statement from Sony Pictures
Wednesday, September 12, 2001 1:39 CDT

Spider-Man Hype! has received an official statement from Sony Pictures regarding the teaser trailer, poster and the terrorist attacks:

"Due to the devastating events that took place yesterday and out of respect for those involved, Sony Pictures Entertainment is requesting that all Spider-Man teaser posters and trailers be taken down and returned to the studio.

Our profound sympathy goes out to the friends and families of those who have lost loved ones in this tragedy."

Sony has also asked us to remove the links to the teaser trailer we had on Hype!, that we brought online together with the official site. Also, we have removed teaser images featuring the World Trade Center from the site.

The main page still looks the same. You can see the WTC in Spidey's eye reflection.

Dude, the WTC sequence you see in the trailer was not pulled out of the movie due to the recent terrorist attack. It was singled out as trailer footage loooooooooong ago.

I don't have the picture in front of me right now...

But aren't those the twin towers Spidey is clinging to on the teaser poster?

The teaser poster and screensaver (which I'm looking at) have the twin towers of the WTC reflecting in Spidey's eye lens.

I remember this exact same thing with the WTC Bombing and the reliece of "The Last Action Hero."

The scene at the end with the big Arnold inlatable first had a gun in one hand and a bomb in the other.

They did a rush reshoot and replaced the bomb with a badge.

Also the new Tim Allen film that was just comming out from disney has just been placed on a hold pecause of a Plane/bomb scene in it.

And some say Hollywood has no heart.

Tho I have been hinking if anyone has already started on a script for a movie about the last couple of days :(

It's not the heart of the people Hollywood's after...it's what's in their pockets <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\">

They make a movie that will make people feel real bad, they won't get profits. Of course IF they make something based on a true story, that's another thing.

Sad but true :(

Kinda on subject.
I have the teaser trailer if anyone needs it.
It's big though, 20meg hi-res version.
I can put it on my site to d/l if you have a broadband connection.
I also have the teaser poster in hi-res wallpaper format.

USA today reported today that the posters would come down, the trailer was pulled from theaters on Tuesday (and that scene was made specifically for the trailer and was not intended for the movie), and that any shots which the towers appeared in would have the buildings removed digitally. They did mention that the trailer is still available online, however they gave no indication of whether or not it will remain available at the site.

I too think it would be great to see a dedication at the beginning of this film for the real heroes (NYPD, firefighters) who died in this tragedy.

From Cinema Confidential:

Sony to change ending to "Men in Black 2"

Variety reports that Sony and Columbia Pictures have announced that they will change the ending to "Men in Black 2," due to the recent attack in New York City. The ending for the film was suppposed to take place at the now-diminished World Trade Center.

Despite the fact that a majority of the film was shot during the summer, the studio contends that the scene had not been finished. "There was a scene set against the background of the World Trade Center, and given yesterday's tragedy, we are now in the process of looking at alternatives," said a Sony representative.

The rest of the film will also be looked over, and any scenes featuring the buildings will be replaced.

This is rediculous, hiding it or taking it out is going to be just as much as a reminder as leaving it in of them not being there, even more so, what?, are they not going to show NY skyline at all in any movies for a year or more? I can understand you don't want to be forcing it out there, and I can understand not wanting to have scene where WTC would be in jepordy, but removing it from incidental scenes or from the backgroud I feel is going to far.

Ditto to what GMC said!
YEs the skyline of NY has been altered whether perminatley or for the time being but let's not take it out of every little scene like it never existed.

MIB2 were also shooting a scene at Radio City Music Hall this summer.
My work sends me to some training classes in the city sometimes and during an Aug class they were their filming.

On a side not my father-in-law is a manager at a locksmith that does a lot of work for celeberties and such and in set up the scene in MIB where they meet the talking dog at the locksmith stand. His name didn't get mentioned in the credits though which he was a little upset because they said they would.

Guys,

This is just what the terrorist want, to screw with our daily lives and make us afraid to go to bed at night.

Movies affected,

Collateral Damage, the posters are being pulled so fast it will make your head spin, I guess Arnold will need to find another Oscar vehicle somewhere else.

Big Trouble is most likely gone for good.

Six TV shows have been pulled and three have got to film new openers.

MIB 2 might not be affected, but they are doing some reshoots now.

Spidey trailer was just that, that is not in the movie and the film is mostly shot. They should just let it go, you can't go back and change every movie ever made that has the WTC.

Stay strong,

Paul

GuntahKela..if you read any of the HUNDREDS of spider man comic books over the years, you would know the basic limits and fictional abilities of spider mans webbing. Trust me, if you find the situation with the helicopter to be unrealistic...comic books aren't for you, and this is a comic book adaptation film. With that said, I agree totally with the dedication idea and that's what I was thinking too. I dont think the towers should be removed. They are a symbol of what america is and will be. The pile of rubble and lack of buildings in the skyline now only reminds me that they are gone. I guess my opinion isn't the important one though, because I didnt lose any loved ones in the tragedy.

I heard on ET that the WTC clip wa only for the trailer. I also heard that MiB 2 has to redo their entire final scene since it involved the towers....
