I've posted this before, but I've used the cheap $10 voice amp/changer available here:

It works great. You can hear what it sounds like in my Trooper suit at my site (click the banner below) The static bursts you hear in my voice are (don't tell) me saying "chick" and "tssht"

For curiosity's sake, I'd like to know what the price of the GT static box is/was.

I think it was around $50 or so.
