Recently since TNN has been running the Trek movies. I've been more curious about getting one of the Field Jackets. You know the big maroon ones that Kirk, McCoy, Saavik wear down on Regula 1 and Saavik wears down on the Genesis Planet. They have the big white collars and such.
Has anybody made these before?? I'd kinda like to have one for winter when it came around.
Also, Has anybody ever done the little Security ID thing the Starfleet security guy flashes to McCoy in the bar when McCoy is trying to rent a ship? It's about a business card size thing with blinkies in it. It looked like he slid it up with his thumb?
Any help would be appreciated guys.

Those ID's are cool. I tried finding more on 'em about six months ago with no real luck.. I'd be interested in anything you might discover. :)

Those are cool jackets. I saw one of the originals at the studio when I was there watching them film. I have one of the original patches that goes on the jacket.
Thanks

the Blinkies are actually numbers blinking on and off. At Wal-mart, they have a lit Magnifier that pops up and lights up that I've been thinking of fooling around with with some decent Graphics, sort of a Poor mans version.

Lowel....I have been thinkin the same thing for a while, and the best I could come up with is Katarra also. I have one of their most recent catalogs and there is a black and white picture of one of their field jackets.
Seems like this should be a bit quicker of a turn around than their other uniforms since it doesnt have to fit exactly the same way. The sleeves are an issue but I am sure they could be a bit more liberal with the chest sizing for example.
I'd love to know of any other source too!

I love those burgundy red uniforms with those field jackets. They really looked "military-isc" and had function/form. Regarding Katarra, she does make them and sure she would do a good job. Here is the information to provide to her (based on her June 2000 catalog):
CAT #: ST-09
Desc: ST II Exploration Jacket - quilted; wine/off white; patch-no insignia
Price: $500
This feels like a commercial!

Any of you guys have a link or email for Katarra??
Anybody else??

I sorta have a pic off the july 01 catalog....but it sucks to be honest....the scan makes it look like crap. The pic is in black and white, and a good portion of the jacket is covered by a pic of a vulcan robe.
Maybe if you email them for a pic?
And...its listed at $560 now.
I would love a new pic too....You could always call for a catalog.
