how the heck do you get the glue residue off a flashgun after you've pulled the grips up? Would wd40 work?

Yeah, WD40 should work. If you have "Goo Gone" or something similar, it'll work great and isn't as toxic as WD40.

The best stuff I've used is a chemical called "MEK" - you find it at Lowes or Home Depot. It's a bit expensive, but will take the chrome off a car bumper. :)
I also warn you - the smell is.... well, shall we say quite enlightening! I recommend using it outdoors unless you enjoy that kind of thing. ;)
