From what I understand they used a flat black for the barrel and upper receiver.Either Testor's or Krylon would do. For the handle and trigger guard Use Testor's Metalizer paint- magnesium or titanium.

Here is the best pic I have of mine...I have not had time to take detailed pics.

I have seen some PKD's done by some board members here that look outstanding. Hopefully they will see this thread. (Mine is the C&S, btw)

Duke Chad can you tell if its a flat black under and around the barrel and a crome or a titanium color on the trigger barrel and pistol grip?

Thanks

The actual barrel of the bulldog is a semi-flat from what I can tell. The Steyr Mannlicher upper receiver is a semi-flat black as well but with a metallic look to it. Hard to describe...just the trademark paint job that only Coyle seems to be able to achieve when it comes to adding metallic to his base paints.

The silver parts seems to be titantium...

This CLOSED auction has some better pics of the C&S....

You need to get in touch with Phil S here on the board...he may be able to give you more specifics on the C&S gun.

If its worth anything I went for the testors gunmetal metalizer and dry brushing for that weathered look. Baremetal foil on the butt, grip & trigger guard

Thanks for the tip Pete. How much does that testors gunmetal metalizer cost and what kind of paint did you use like an enamel?? Where can you get that paint? Pete how much would you say all the supplies cost you for this project??

Thanks again for the help

Hey Luke, who's PKD kit is that?

The kit's canadian, I dont think it's offered anymore, (not sure) but the doppel is veeeery nice. The testors buffable gun metal metalizer comes from the spray can$5-$6, place the can in hot water (from the tap hot don't boil it) for a smoother coat. Dry brushed with testors silver enamel.clearcoated with a semigloss clear Krylon. The bare metal foil comes in about 5" x 8" sheets
and is about $6-$7 per. most of the stuff can be found at a hobby shop. I didn't like the look of the orange grips so after I polished them I took some brown acrylic paint, the kind from a tube, and swirled it around on the undersides for a kind of tortise(sp?) shell look.

It looks fan-tastic, especially the tortise-shell grip trick.

I used Testors Gunmetal Buffable metalizer and Titanium paints. The titanium is a bit darker than I like though. I used an airbrush which is much better than a spray can. If you are going to do much painting is is definitely worth the investment I can't say enough about how much better it is.
