Princess Leia ANH costume?

I'm putting together a Princess Leia ANH costume for my girlfriend and I was wondering if anyone else has done this and could point me in the right direction as to where to start...

I made the belt for a friend about 18 years ago but I believe I have a pattern for the belt and some belt plates laying around in a box at home.

My advice is to use a very sheer stretch poly-cotton blend material. It should hang easily and not be stiff......it just looks better that way.
