View Full Version : Hmm... Perhaps a challenge.

(ooc) This is an open challenge to anyone who thinks they can handle themselves against one little Imperial sniper. The first person to accept goes one on one with Tondry. Serious acceptances only, please... and unfortunately, since it's late, I'll have to post the challenge tonight and pick up on it tomorrow afternoon.

OOC:I will gladly accept. I've heard so much about you yet have not had the pleasure of fighting you. That HAS to change. :D

Start the fighting thread for me. I don't know what you want the start to be like, and sense this is your thread, you start it. :D

(ooc) Sage Hazzard, the challenger? I admit I wasn't expecting that, but I'll take any ball I'm given and run with it.

Here's the score. If Tondry (a sniper) is targeting you, he's not going to walk right up to you and start shooting. He's going to snipe from a distance. So I need you to post a place Sage is likely to be and I'll start the fight from that.

You're welcome to handle your end of the fight however you like. I assure you I'm prepared for both close quarter fighting and ranged attacks, so do your best. :)

OOC:Ah, I see. Very good RPing like way to start a fight. I like it...

IC:He sat in the darkest corner of the bar. The only light shining on him was the dim Neon lights that shined through the window. It was night time so the bar was perticularly busym, filled to the brim with creatures of every variety. He felt good here, undoubtedly unlike a average Jedi would feel. He felt strangely nostalgic here. He downed the rest of his drink and slammed the glass against the table. He worked his way out of the booth and layed a few credits for the bill on the table. He stopped and turned back to the table. He layed a few more credits on the table as a tip. He turned back, facing the door. Well, not exactly facing the door. Who could "face" the door with so many people inbetween you and it? He began working his way through the wave of people.....::

(ooc) Just letting you know I haven't forgotten about this. Reason I haven't posted is because this is finals week for me, and I've been busy studying. I'll pick up on this Friday afternoon, after they're all done.

Edit: (ooc) Hey, I have free time! Whoo!

(ic)

Pierce kept his eyes on the bar three doors down and across the street. He'd seen Sage Hazzard go in not long ago, and he was using a pair of macrobinoculars to keep the area covered visually. In the meantime, Pierce was practicing the sniper's virtue of patience.

Sage suddenly slid past a reptilian alien and out the door of the bar. Pierce picked up his sniper rifle and sighted his target through the scope. With any luck, Sage wouldn't know what hit him, and would be dead after the first shot.

Aiming through the big green "O" in his building's sign, Pierce fired.

OOC: WHat kind of rifle is that? Semi-auto? auto? bolt action?

(ooc) *Grin.* Actually, the rifle's type will be described (eventually) within the confines of the "Sanis tries his hand at a targeting range" thread, which I just posted to in an OOC manner.

::Sage feels the shot speed towards him through the Force, not soon enough however. The bullet rips through Sage's right side and lodges in the right side of his rib case, luckily for Sage it cuts no major veins and/or arteries. The shot would surely tear his head off he had not noticed it. The Jedi bends over in pain. His first instinct is to look up at the direction the shot came from, he dismisses the instinct knowing it could mean a hole between the eyes. The Jedi runs, well, hobbles accross the street before the sniper can get a good lock on him. He enters through the doors of yet another bar, even more scummy and criminal oriented then the last one. The patrons, mostly smugglers and bounty hunters, don't give him a second look. Sage thinks a terrible thought. Has he been thrown out of the pan and into the fire? He limps over to a table on the wall farthest from the entrance. The Jedi places his hand over his wound, applying pressure to slow the bleeding::

(ooc) Sage, just to let you know, I don't use bullets. I use highly tuned energy shots that work off normal blaster cartridges. I don't know if that changes your response any, but I'll wait just in case.

OOC:No, we'll just say the shot went straight through. It plays nicely into my "wounded rabbit" ruitine. :D .... But beware, a wounded rabbit can have hidden traits..... :D

(ooc) I just wanted you to know that there was a chance for you to absorb the shot's energy or perform a similar defense manuever. You having refused that, I will now get down to business. :)

(ic) Pierce tracks Sage's movements through his sight scope, watching Sage take refuge in the bar. He waits for a minute or so, but Sage doesn't return to view.

Which means that Pierce has to go in closer to make the kill.

Pierce deftly removes a grappling line from his belt and anchors it on the side wall of the building he's on. After slinging his rifle securely over his shoulder, Pierce uses the line to slide down to the next building over, which is right next to the bar.

He removes a tear smoke grenade from his belt and sets it down by his shoe so that it doesn't roll off the building's sloped roof. He takes careful aim with his rifle and fires through one of the bar's windows a few times, shattering it.

The grenade goes flying through the window a moment later.

::Sage looks up at the window from his booth once the shots ring out. The bar patrons scatter through the doors outside, screaming as they go. The tear grenade comes seconds later. Sage scrambles out of his booth quickly, clutching his side while doing it. He notices the human Bartender cramming the money from the cash register into his own pockets. Sage approaches him quickly, his arm covering face and mouth partialy from the gas. The bartender coughs a few times as he pockets the remaining coins::

Sage:Bar-- Barkeep.

::The smoke causes Sage's eyes to water::

Barkeep:*cough*Ye-yeah? What do ya-- what do ya*cough* want?

Sage:Is there a backdoor to this slime hole?

::Sage uses a small Jedi tactic to persuade the barkeep to give him the truth, a form of mind control::

Barkeep:Yeah. What do ya want with with it?

Sage:I am obvious wanting to escape this place. And my wounds indicate that I am being hunted. Most likely by the one who shot the tear grenade.... and by my calcuations, the gas will kill you in a matter of minutes, so you better tell me fast.

::Sage was lying. He knew that the gas couldn't kill, only make unpleasant, but the barkeep didn't know that::

Barkeep:Well then I'd better be gettin' out of here!

::The Barkeep turns to dart for the doors. Sage grabs him by the throat before he can starts moving. He uses his Force enhanced strength to pick the barkeep up and pull him from over the counter to the other side::

Sage:I hate to resort to violence, and I assure you I will not injure you. But I would appreciate being escorted to the back exit, please?

Barkeep:Whatever you want man!

::Sage puts the Barkeep down::

Sage:Thank you.

::The barkeep runs to the back wall. He arrives at a place that strangly has no booth infront of it, but rather a booth on both sides. The barkeep searches the wall for a discolered brick, he pushes it and a small panel comes out from another brick. He inputs a series of numbers and the wall begins to sldie open::

Barkeep:*cough*This way!

Sage:Thank you kind sir.

::The Barkeep procedes to run down the newly opened cooridor, leading to a unknown location to Sage. Sage follows the man into the long, black cooridor......::

The Imperial sniper pulls a rebreather mask off of his belt and slides it on over his head. His feet shift and the force of gravity pulls him down the roof's slope. He carefully drops down to the ground and rushes into the gas-filled bar.

A noise from his right catches his attention and Pierce moves to investigate. As he does so, he catches sight of the secret door closing and rushes towards it.

Unfortunately, the door shuts just before he can get through.

Pierce scowls and yanks a thermite detonator pack off his belt. He wedges it into the wall cracks where the door's edge is and retreats behind a booth.

With loud explosion of compressed air, the door goes flying off its' concealed hinges and crashes somewhere behind him. Pierce gets up and runs into the darkened hole, firing blindly to cover his entrance.

::...... Sage and the barkeep walk casually down the cooridor. They are quite far from the entrance, far enough so that when the door closes the light is only a flicker... then the lights go out as the door slides shut. Sage can see uphead a red blinking light::

Sage:What is that?

Barkeep:o h, that? It's just to let us know the door is closed, and to show us where the end is.

Sage:Ah, so that is the exit I presume?

Barkeep:Isn't that what I just said?

::..... BOOM a hugh explosion is hard from the entrance, meams of light shine down the hall as the door is busted open::

Barkeep:What th--

::Shots ring out, shots from a blaster, no mistaking that. The Barkeep darts for the end while Sage ignites his sabre to fend of the intruder's shots::

Barkeep:Come on! Follow me!

Sage:Get the door open, I'm right behind you.

::The Barkeeper reaches the door and almost falls down as he rams into it, his speed carrying him into the door, His heart pounds as he struggles with the code for the door command::

Barkeep:Bingo.

::The door begins to slide open, it gets 1/3 of the way open when it stops::

Barkeep:What the heck?

::As the Barkeep struggles with the door Sage continues to bat away the shots, the bolts hit the walls, burning holes into them as they richochet off the sabre. Then, finally a shot heads for Sage's chest, Sage bats it directly from where it came, the task he has been attempting for quite some time, but missing again and again. The shots heads straight down the hall, on a direct path for the attacker. Sage uses the time opening to run for the door, only to find it partially open::

Sage:What's this?

Barkeep:It's jammed! This exit hasn't been used since the place opened!

::Sage proceeds to cut through the door with his sabre, a task that will take a minute or two, maybe more time then they have......::

Seeing his own shot head right back at him, Pierce raises his arms into the air. The red beam of light strikes him squarely in the chest, sending up a charred smell as it burns through his shirt. The impact of the shot forces him back several steps, and he stumbles to the ground.

But other than having been knocked about a bit, Pierce is free from injury. The ability of Jedi to redirect blaster bolts is legendary, and an onlooker would spy a blocky shape indicating a blast vest beneath Pierce's fatigues.

Pierce gets up to one knee and sights someone through his rifle's scope. The light is a little too bright to make out exactly who, but if he can kill someone then that's what matters.

A shot arcs out and takes the target in the head. It slumps to the floor, sounding altogether much too heavy to be Sage. Pierce moves forward into the tunnel, catching sight of a figure with a glowing wand in his hand.

That would be Sage.

"Sage!" Pierce calls out, slowly advancing on the Jedi. "Sage Hazzard! I know you're down there, and I know I hit you that first time. I've already got you on the losing end, Sage! Throw down your lightsaber, and I'll discard my rifle, and then we can fight one on one, Sage!"

Pierce steps forward, his eyes having compensated to the point where he can see Sage now. "Well, what do you say, Sage?"

::Sage, ignoring Pierce for a moment bends his knees, bringing him to the fallen Bartender. He feels his pulse.... nothing, he's dead. Sage lays his free hand on the back of the head of the bartender::

May the Force treat you well.

::Sage stands back up, now looking at Pierce. He notices the way Pierce is talking to him, ending every sentance with his name. If he is not mistaken this is a old trick he knows well from days of old, used to make the other feel inferior. The sight of Pierce almost seems to intensify the pain of Sage's wounds, his adreniline slowing down, not avalible to aid his pain::

Do you actually think you would win? Your cockyness invelopes you, or atleast it seems.....

::Sage deactivates his Sabre, he clips it to his belt. he turns to the door behind him for a split second, he notices now it leads to the street, but not the same one he came from. The wind from outside blows through his hair, almost taunting. He turns back to Tondry::

If this is what you wish human, put aside your weapon and we shall begin.

The Imperial's eyes are cold and unforgiving. His gaze doesn't move from where he's watching Sage, not even for a second. One of his hands strays to his belt, removing what appears to be a second grenade.

The sniper starts walking towards the other exit, Sage backing away from him as he goes. He pauses at the exit and one of his arms almost carelessly tosses the explosive behind him.

It arcs gracefully back down the corridor and lands inside the bar's ruins where it explodes, blocking all traces of the hidden exit with rubble.

Meanwhile Pierce has stepped outside the corridor. He pulls off his rebreather mask and tosses it to the ground by the exit. The sniper's rifle is set gently over top it, followed by his jacket, shirt, and blast vest.

Pierce turns to Sage and lifts his arms, plainly displaying that they have a size which comes from ropy tendons and sinews as well as the bone and lean muscle that his torso exhibits. Fists that have fought against army combat instructors, Intelligence operatives, Royal Guardsmen, enemy troops, and even Jedi are raised into an open-palm stance. Legs that have carried him through countless missions and battles bend slightly at the knee and rock his feet onto their toes.

And rather than charge into battle as a Sith might, or wait for his enemy's attack as a Jedi would, the Imperial starts towards Sage with a slow and deliberate advance.

Pierce makes one or two feints towards sage with his hands, then aims a true blow at the right side of Sage's face.

OOC:I am assuming you are not using a Yslarmi(I think I spelt that right). If you are, I'll change my post. I plan on using only my body, so don't worry,. However Sage is not a very strong individual alone, he draws apon the Force for his strength. He's only 16, yet he has very good battle skills, he relies on stelth when he doesn't have the Force, so I need to know so I can make my posts accordingly. If you are carrying a Yslarmi, then I'll edit this post with new moves.

IC:Sage lets his arms lay at his side while Tondry approaches. As Tondry closes in Sage raises his arms infront of his chest, his left arm ahead of his right, palms open, fingers close together. He shifts his legs to be even with his shoulders, his left leg slightly closer to his enemy then his right. As Tondry approaches the Jedi's eyes glow with thought as he tries to anticipate his opponents moves. As Tondry feints Sage doesn't flench, he keeps his arms still, his hands ready. As Tondry's left fist flies at Sage's face Sage goes into action. He raises his right arm quickly, connecting his forearm with Tondry's wrist. Sage twists his right wrist to allow his hand to grab Tondry's forearm, he does so. Sage dives in, his grip still strong, he now faces Tondry's left arm. Tondry swings at Sage's back and lands a punch square in the small of Sage's back. Sage allows the pain to come, and then quickly repels it. He wraps his left arm around Tondry's neck, putting it in a loose lock, the bend of Sage's elbow placed on the front of Tondry's throat, squeezing in order to keep the lock. The lock is loose, but it is not intended to be kept. Sage places his left foot to the outside of Tondry's left leg. Sage pulls with his right arm on Tondry's left arm, outward. Tondry is thrown over Sage's left hip, Sage releases the head lock as Tondry is sent to the ground. Sage backpeddles briskly. He comes to a stop a little aways from Tondry. He goes back into his original stance, the one he had before Tondry struck::

(ooc) No, no ysalamiri- I made Pierce take off his shirt and everything so he could remove his blast vest and make it a fair fight. If I mentioned his backpack somewhere else in the thread, then let me know and I'll change my last post to mention him setting it aside.

Anyway, Pierce is somewhere between 26 and 32, I haven't really decided. The point of me saying that is to give you an idea that where Sage uses the Force, Tondry uses combat experience, and where Sage draws on the Force for muscle, Tondry already has it.

(ic)
As Sage returns to his stance, he realizes that Tondry has rolled after him. Pierce kicks Sage's legs out from under him, causing him to fall face-foreward at one of Pierce's upward-kicking legs. Sage twists his head to avoid being kicked, but Pierce's feet wrap themselves around the Jedi's neck in a choking position. While he has Sage all wrapped up, Tondry delivers two strong chops to Sage: one on his open rifle-shot wound, the other on Sage's right kidney area.

Pierce then unwraps his legs and rolls away, going to one knee with his hands in a defensive position.

OOC:o kay, understood, no Yslarmi.

Just a few notes: Sage is very strong, Force Strength is one of his specialties, he is very skilled in that area of the Force. His other specialties in the Force is Alter Mind, which I won't be using much in this battle. He will also be starting to specialise in molecular distortion in about a month or more, once I think he would be self trained enough in this area. Also, Sage himself is very well trained in combat. His origin for combat experiance is unfolding, and I am keeping it slightly under wraps. He does have other experiance in fighting, besides the Jedi.

IC:Sage lays face down in the dark and dank cooridor. Filth from the floor covers Sage's clothes as he lays on the scummy floor. He manages to roll onto his good side, his left side. He watches as Tondry goes into a defensive stance, indicating he has a few moments before a attack comes. The dirt from the ground iritates the open wound in his side, he cringes in pain. He rolls to his back, clamping his side with his left hand. He looks up at Tondry::

You are skilled. Equal to myself in strength I would have to say. I am a wounded rabbit, and you are the blood thirsty Wolf. Come Wolf, take your prey. Or are you afraid of the rabbit?

Sniper Tondry
Dec 22nd, 2000, 06:43:58 PM
(ooc) You'd have to be a very special 16-year-old to beat Tondry out for strength, though. :)

(ic)

One of Pierce's hands drops to the floor to steady his stance. "I've heard of a Khazar wolf, but what the heck is a rabbit?"

Before Sage can reply, Pierce uses his hand on the floor for leverage to roll forward, bringing one leg arcing downward in a broad kick.

Edit: *Kicks, punches, shoves, and boots this thread back up to the first page.* Sage must be on vacation or something...
