Sanis Prent
Feb 20th, 2001, 06:10:42 PM
OOC: Takes place after "Dinner for Three..." and immediately after "This isn't business anymore...this is personal!"
(Sanis stood outside the Sector Rangers building, the prelude to an afternoon Coruscant shower beginning in the streets around him. He sighed, and breathed in deeply. What the Hell was he doing here? Sanis shook his head. He knew that it was one of the only real options he had left, but Sanis still didn't want to play it...not in the slightest.
He had only six hours until his "appointment" with General Tondry...and he had to find a way to stack the odds somewhat in his favor. Sanis looked down at the red rose he held in his hand.
DAMN...if he could only find another way! Sanis was truly desperate for help now. In order to get his ship back, he was about to ask for help from a most unlikely source...somebody that Sanis couldn't trust to save his life...but would do anything to get what they wanted.
Sanis checked his chronometer, wiping away a few rain droplets. It was five after two...so Dalee and MARCUS should be meeting up with Vekaan at the Imperial Center Database soon. Sanis hoped they could find something he could use to his advantage. The last thing Sanis wanted to do was walk into that penthouse, alone, unarmed, with no backup, and with no ace up his sleeve. It would be suicide. He couldn't expect Tondry to be very civil about the encounter, and Sanis had to make his own luck here.
Sanis walked under the Sector Ranger's awning, out of the rain. He checked the red rose, to see that it looked pristine. He reached into his pocket, pulling out a small bottle of cologne, and spraying a few shots around his neck. With his free hand, he fixed his hair, giving it that unkept but attractive look. After doing this, Sanis reached down to his holster, taking the safety off his Duronian "Gentleman" handblaster. He wasn't going to take chances with this one.
Breathing in deeply, Sanis adjusted the collar of his jacket, and walked through the revolving doors of the Sector Rangers building. He stepped into an ornately-decorated lobby, and proceeded to walk to the receptionist's desk. An attractive human with blonde hair greeted him.)
Receptionist: Welcome to the Coruscant office of the Sector Rangers. Can I help you with something?
(Sanis smiled, and gulped slightly)
Sanis: Yes, I would like to see Miss Reeouurra, if I could.
(The Receptionist smirked. This shifty-looking person didn't look very important, and she doubted he had made prior arrangements)
Receptionist: Do you have an appointment.
(Sanis laughed)
Sanis: No, I don't. Just tell her Sanis Prent is here.
(Sanis began to look at the paintings decorating the walls of the lobby. One of them looked strikingly like "Hyperdrive in Pale Mauve III". Sanis laughed at that.
Meanwhile, the receptionist picked up the phone, and began to speak to Sasseeri. After a few seconds, she placed the phone down.)
Receptionist; My apologies, Mr. Prent. I did not realize you were a personal guest.
(The receptionist snapped her fingers, and a couple of attendants came to the desk. The receptionist spoke to them)
Receptionist: Please escort Mr. Prent to Miss Reeouurra's office. He's cleared.
(The two men nodded, leading Sanis to the elevator. The lift door opened, and the three men walked inside. After a few seconds, the lift came to a stop on the 134th floor. The attendants stood by the escalator, and gestured down the hall. Sanis walked in the direction the men had pointed, until he arrived at a door with a brass plackard...
Sasseeri Reeouurra
Sector Rangers Administration
Sanis sighed heavily, hesitating as he moved to knock on the door. He closed his eyes...wanting to walk out of there, no....run out of there as fast as he could.
No, he couldn't do that. He had a job to do, as frightening as the prospects were. He promised Daleethria he'd make it out of this in one piece...and if she knew what he was planning, she at least didn't object.
With another sigh, Sanis knocked on the door. Damn, now he'd done it. No turning back now. Sanis put on his best smile, and held the red rose out on front of him...waiting on the door to be opened.)

One of the MARCUS drones peered carefully out of one of Sanis' jacket pockets, quite aware of the dire situation that Sanis was now in.
Oh dear, Sanis...this time you have gone too far. Miss Daleethria will be most distressed that you are even considering such a foolish plan. I must say, I find this Sasseeri woman to be quite atrocious. Really, if I must say so myself, you could do a lot better with your prospects. She has way too much stamina for a normal human such as yourself.
Oh dear, oh dear...there is only a 23.44 percent chance you will escape this encounter in one piece. If I were you, I would turn right around and leave, before she opens the door.
Oh my, that may not work. What if she's already smelled you? Cizerack have a heightened olfactory system. She probably already knows your here. This is bad, Sanis. Very bad. I do not approve of such brash behavior. I understand your sometimes-amorous tendencies, but this is not healthy.

It had been a fairly quiet day. Things were just a bit too quiet for her taste. She'd spent the morning overlooking some transports for the Rangers to go out to her HQ in the Arkanis Sector, and there had been slight problems with one of the shipments.
Of course, her status within the Rangers organisation wasn't making it easy - she was out on her own in organising things. She didn't like it a lot, as it meant she had to spend more time on Coruscant overseeing things, and leaving matters in the Arkanis sector to her underlings, but at least she was closer to the Rangers' command this way. And that was always an advantage.
And of course, there was the added advantage of being where Sanis Prent was. Keeping track of his movements, appearing to be always one step ahead of him, had become one of her favorite hobbies. He'd been nothing but reluctant, playing along by necessity more than by any free choice of his own.
Which was why his sudden appearance at her own doorstep was surprising... but not unwelcome.
Maybe he had come to accept that she would play an important part in his life from now on. Which would be a good thing, because she wasn't going to let him go otherwise.
She wriggled out of the formal overcoat she was wearing, and leant back in her chair. For a brief moment, she considered getting up and lying seductively on her desk, but that was maybe a touch too much.
Then the knock came at her door, and it was too late for any other options. She'd have to play this by the book - at least for now.
"Come jin, Sanjis."

(Sanis opened the door and walked inside...his heart began to beat like a jackhammer. He prayed that Sasseeri was having a "low-key" night, and maybe she wouldn't go to any extremes with Sanis' uncharacteristically affectionate gesturing. Nevertheless, Sanis had to play the part...because if he didn't go through with it at this point, he wouldn't get Sasseeri's help, and she just might end up having her way with him anyways...which wasn't going to happen.
Sanis smiled nervously, as he walked into the office. When he got to Miss Reeouurra's desk, he extended the rose toward her slowly, and spoke as calmly as he could)
Sasseeri...I just wanted you to know how much I have appreciated your help these past few days. You've given me jobs to work that I would have otherwise not found, and its helped me to keep the bills paid.
(Sanis collected himself before going any further)
I guess what I'm trying to say is...I've frankly never met a woman of such great power and beauty at the same time. Its a sensation that is rather new to me, and I find myself st-
(Sanis stammers a little....
AGH! Keep going...keep going...deliver the line!)
-strangely drawn to you, like no other woman I have met before.
(Sanis smiles...that went off almost without a hitch. Now, the moment of truth...
...if Sanis could stay in one piece for the next 10 minutes, this thing had a chance of working.)

Sasseeri's eyes opened wide in surprise. That he would sooner or later give away before her charm, had been sure, but she had not expected it to be quite this soon. Especially because that woman of his seemed to be constantly around him, and "Dalee" couldn't be shaken off, no matter how hard Sasseeri and her people tried to.
My, my - if this wasn't unexpected. And pleasant. Didn't he look awfully appetizing, standing there with that silly flower in his hand? Sasseeri's mouth watered, and she had to fight for control over her body for a second, as she stood up swaying behind her desk.
Her eyes took on a glassy look, and she involunarily stepped around the desk towards Sanis.
"Ohhhh... but arrren't you a sweethearrrt, Sanjis!.... flowerrrs!"
She stepped closer, her tongue licking slowly over her lips, the glassy orbs of her blue eyes almost swirling in her face. Her arm reached out and touched his, her claws running over his clothes up to his shoulders, and then proceeded to pat his cheek affectionately - well, with about as much affection as she could find.
It was with extreme reluctance that she finally forced herself to pull back. She didn't believe for one second that he was really as drawn to her as he professed. Well, maybe to her body - she knew she could always get the attention of any male with that - but he had been more than just a little reluctant to associate with her in the past, and she didn't doubt that he was scheming something at the back of his cute little mind.
Still, such an opportunity should not be wasted.
Wiht cat-like grace, she leaned over the desk, and pulled out a bottle of extremely well-settled Chandrilan Pearl-wine she had kept just for an occasion like this.
Grabbing two antique glasses from a table nearby, she filled them with the bluish liquid and swirled both glasses in her hands before passing one on to Sanis.
"Have a drrrjink, sweethearrrt. Let us drrrjink to us!"
Under her breath, she added... "And to ourrr futurrre togetherrr..."

(Sanis didn't exactly expect Sasseeri to immediately sit down and have a heart to heart with him, and he was truly glad that she hadn't torn his shirt off and sprawled him on the desk...but this tactic was far more insidious! Damn, she thought just like Sanis would in her situation!
The clever woman she was...trying to strengthen her bargaining position with alcohol. Cizerack physiology aside, Sanis didn't like his prospects much if he spent this encounter with Sasseeri quaffing down this...
...Sanis drinks some of the bubbly blue beverage as Sasseeri passed it to him...
...interesting beverage. Sanis lightly sniffed at the liquid's bouquet, and was intrigued. It had no alcohol smell to it. Sanis sipped again. It had a light and fruity flavor.
Ooooh....she really was subtle, wasn't she? If Sanis wasn't careful, he might consume more of the wine than he should. One look in Sasseeri's eyes indicated that she was expecting such a dire turn of events to fall into her lap.
Sanis smiled at her slightly, looking at his glass, and her sensuously-grinning face just beyond it. He was entangled in a far-stickier web than he had ever anticipated. Something made Sanis think that she didn't exactly fall for his amorous display....but was nevertheless determined to play it until it fell in her favor.
Okay, perhaps it was time to find an appropriate battle strategy. He had never had his own tricks used against him with such chilling effectiveness, and if anything, he had to admire Sasseeri's inherently male train of thought when it came to getting what she wanted. Although, he would prefer to admire from a distance. She was way too efficient at this game.
Sanis looked down at his glass. He told Daleethria she wouldn't have to worry about a thing, and he meant it. He wasn't going to give an inch, and he intended to win this battle of wits. Smiling, he raised the glass, clinking it against Sasseeri's with a light tap. Her ears perked slightly at the sound, as Sanis' smile widened.)
Yes, to us.
(Sanis and Sasseeri both drank, although Sanis made it a point to simply sip. As they both lowered their glasses, Sasseeri began to move towards Sanis slowly.
Time to play a reversal.
Sanis placed a gentle hand on Sasseeri's shoulder, and began to look around.)
Hey, uh...do you have a refresher around here? I won't be very long at all...

She giggled, ecstatically. Maybe she had been wrong and he was indeed intending to throw himself at her feet... and into her bed.
Giving his cheek a little pinch, she looked deep into his eyes, before finally murmuring at him in a low, guttural voice.
"Rrrefrrresherrr jis overrr therrre, sweethearrrt."
She pointed over her shoulder at a grubby door at the other side of the room.
Her claws were clutching his sleeve as he turned around to go, and she just couldn't help herself. She absolutely had to have a taste before she'd let him go... With one clawed hand, she grabbed for his chin, her other hand's nails digging into the skin at the back of his neck. She stepped up on her toes and smacked a loud kiss on his mouth, before letting go with a broad grin.
Yes, she hadn't erred. He was ideal.
After he had shut himself safely into the refresher station, she got to work. First, the assorted clutter on top of her desk had to go - she swiped it off with one hand, dumping all into one of the drawers underneath. Then, she let darkened the shades on the transparisteel windows, until the room was in total darkness.
Rummaging around in one of her drawers for one of the crystal iluminators she'd picked up in an antiques auction once, she set two of them down on each end of the desk, then slipped out of her clothes. Another rummage through another drawer brought out a shiny red robe, made of some strange almost transparent material, and she slipped that over her naked body, closing it at the front with a belt, leaving enough view of her cleavage as she thought he would find interesting.
Then she draped herself onto the table-top in a seductively lazy manner, and waited, giggling to herself.

(Sanis smiiled as he closed the door to the refresher behind him...but as he did so, he quickly turned towards the mirror in the small room. He spent a few seconds simply staring himself in the face, trying to psych himself up and stay focused. A twinge of pain at the back of his neck got his attention, and as he reached up to feel it, he came back with dabbles of blood on his fingertips.
Sanis' eyes widened. Okay...he was bleeding. She was now drawing blood from him. And this was okay? Huh? Not to mention, she kissed him like she was trying to suck out his toenails. Sanis...was now officially at an impasse.)
Oh flying frell....what am I doing?!?
(Sanis turns on the faucet, wetting his hand, and rubbing the back of his neck, cleaning the cuts. As he did so, Sanis went ahead and simply filled the sink with cold water. Once full, Sanis stared at himself in the mirror again, and dunked his head full in the water. She was not going to get him like that. He had business to do...and he was here for a reason. Damn, if this were the old days, it would've been an open and shut case...but Sanis now felt cheap by even thinking about anything like that. Okay, he could admit it. She was hot. No...she was INCREDIBLY hot. She was the kind of hot that most men only got to see out of HoloMags. But Hell, Sanis had been around hot women before, its not like he went and....
....okay, maybe he did. But that was the OLD Sanis. This was the NEW Sanis, the Sanis who had met a girl named Daleethria, who despite not having the typical "exotic dancer" kind of flair, was making more impact on Sanis' feelings than any woman had ever done. The NEW Sanis would not simply have a roll in the hay with any beautiful woman who crossed his path. No, he could change. He was changed.
Sanis Prent. Changed Man. Yeah...that sounded good. Sanis smiled, as the cold water dripped down his nose and chin. Oh he wished Daleethria could be here now, to see how good he was. Sasseeri was practically throwing herself on Sanis, and he was standing firm in his principles...like an oak.
Sanis laughed a little. Okay...maybe that just didn't suit his personality at all. Sanis smiled slightly in the mirror, turning his head at an angle. Maybe just to say he was a "One Woman Man". Yeah, that was enough.
As Sanis stood, he began thinking to himself, as if willing his mind into action. Okay...just go in there, smile at her, and tell her that you like her, but that you need help first. Yeah...you can't give your heart away so easily! Yeah...that stuff sounds great! If she truly cares, she will understand.
Confident in his abilities to accomplish his mission, Sanis stood up, and as he reached for the towel, something began to move in his jacket pocket.
MARCUS v4
Feb 22nd, 2001, 05:48:09 AM
MARCUS climbed halfway out of the jacket pocket, using his small manipulator arms for balance. His visual indicators looked up at Sanis.
You see, Sanis. I told you this would happen. Miss Reeouurra is trying to seduce you, and you think you can just walk in like you are delivering the mail?
Oh dear, oh dear. Do you realize that she is making it harder and harder for us to escape the longer we wait here. If we don't find a way out now...
...my processor would not like to contemplate our chances for survival.
MARCUS' visual indicators dialate
Oh my! I almost forgot. What will she do to ME? Why, there is no telling. I might be sold, dismantled, broken down into scrap, or worse. I might have to become the servant of that insufferable animal. She would probably bite or claw at me. Do you realize what that would do to my paint finish? I just know that she would mistreat me if she claimed ownership.
MARCUS began bouncing in Sanis' pocket
Sanis, Sanis, Sanis...you must find a way out quickly. If we can distract her, maybe we can rappell out the window. Our chances of surviving a 134 story rappelling are not particuarly high, but I would prefer to risk that probability against the chance of us enduring that disgusting woman.

(Without a second thought, Sanis reached in his pocket, deactivated MARCUS' power supply, and placed the module on the counter. He wasn't going to let the little droid scold him now. He was too busy putting his game face on.)

Feb 22nd, 2001, 06:06:15 AM
The room's atmosphere was thick with tension. A loud rippling noise disturbed the silence, as Sasseeri's claws drummed impatiently on the table-top. She leaned her head onto her elbow, and with an half impatient, half angry look in her eye, grabbed for her comm-link.
"Zakath - get me another bottle of that Chandrrrjilan wjine. Thjis one jis not enough."
She slammed the commlink back into the drawer behind her, and went back to drumming on the table with her nails.
Sanis had still not come out of the 'fresher by the time Sasseeri's male assistant entered bearing a cooler with the bottle of exquisite wine inside. The male human was visibly startled by his boss' appearance, and blushed somewhat furiously, despite his age.
Sasseeri used his surprise by grabbing his arm and pinching his butt when he left. She hadn't had him for long, and he wasn't used to her ways yet. Zakath didn't look too bad - maybe it was time to give him a little bit of a closer introduction to her way of business. The feline woman smugly grinned from ear to ear as the young man rushed to the door and out of her way as fast as he could, a nice blush on his cheeks.
When he had left, she plucked the bottle out of the cooler, and re-filled the glasses.
A damn shame those bottles are so tiny... and so expensive.
Then she leaned up, and bellowed at the closed refresher door.
"SAAAAAAANJIS!"

Feb 22nd, 2001, 06:29:58 AM
(Sanis looked at himself in the mirror at the sound of Sasseeri's voice. For a moment, his mind went blank, but he quickly regrouped on what he was thinking about. Focus...focus!
Sanis smiled slightly, a determined look on his face. He looked down at the deactivated MARCUS module. He hated to cut the little guy's power, but he couldn't have the droid's constant voice of dissention in his ear, especially when Sanis was so at odds with the whole thing anyway. Quickly, he made himself more presentable, fixing his hair slightly. He turned to the door to respond.)
Coming, Sasseeri!
(Sanis mock-saluted the deactivated MARCUS module, and opened the door, walking out. He felt like a determined soldier marching off to war. Yes! Sanis Prent, Hero of the Day! He would go bravely into the fight and...
...Sanis stopped dead in his tracks, looking at Sasseeri's barely-clad body sprawled on the desk....
...RETREAT!
Sanis' mouth opened slightly, as he saw Sasseeri's incredibly attractive figure in all its glory, the red piece of tissue paper she had draped over her left little to the imagination. She purred at him beckoningly as she stretched on the desk, looking at him as if she had harpooned him through the chest, and was dragging him forward.
Sanis blinked hard, trying to remember all that great-sounding stuff he was telling himself in the reclaimer...all that inner pep-talk he gave himself. It was quickly evaporating in the face of severe opposition.
Sanis blinked slightly, looking to his left shoulder. He imagined, perched upon his shoulder, a MARCUS module, only this droid was colored red, had horns, and was carrying a pitchfork. Sanis' eyes widened slightly, as the artificial incarnation of Sanis' bad side spoke inside his head.)
Devil MARCUS: Sanis, there is a 95.34 percent chance that you will be the biggest choir boy on this side of Coruscant if you do not buy what she's selling. I cannot believe you. You used to be such a stud, such a manly man, and you never passed up a good time, especially from such a hot piece of woman. Look Sanis...if you don't, I will. Its that simple.
(The Devilish incantation of MARCUS quit speaking, and another MARCUS module appeared, this time on Sanis' right shoulder. This MARCUS was a shade of white, and had a halo and wings. It flapped its wings slightly, looking up quite knowingly at the bewildered Sanis.)
Angel MARCUS: Sanis, I apologize, but I cannot counter that argument. It is not a virtue to walk away from a nice rack such as that specimen.
(Sanis raised an eyebrow, blinking until both MARCUS' disappeared from his imagination. Unfortunately, Sasseeri was still quite there, quite hot, and quite nearly naked. Sanis was just about to break under the floodgate, when he felt the soothing sense that Daleethria was watching over him. Maybe he was imagining things, but at least imagining that, he felt resolved, renewed, and ready to do what he came here to do. Not to make love to Sasseeri...not to even go along with it. He came here, because he had a job to do...and he knew that Dalee was with him all the way.
Walking slowly and carefully, Sanis approached Sasseeri. He would have to be careful...slow...and must not lose control.)

Her grin turning into a leer, she looked at Sanis with a piercing stare that seemed to burn several layers of clothing off his body.
It seemed her surprise had worked, for he was looking decidedly flushed now, staring at her with his mouth open and his eyes almost falling out of his head as he stood in the middle of the room.
Her eyes roamed over his body, taking another layer of clothes along with them, until she had mentally undressed him at least down to his under-garments.
She swallowed hard, and licked her suddenly dry lips.
Then he seemed to have overcome his first surprise and indecision, and stepped forward, as a slight smile sneaked on his face.
With every step he took, the mental picture she had of him in her mind shed another piece of clothing. Sasseeri purred in anticipation of what was surely to come.
Her fingers started toying with the belt on her almost see-through garment, slowly untying the knot in it, and the skimpy thing slid off one shoulder to bare more of her arm and cleavage.

(As Sanis approached Sasseeri, it became rather obvious that he would have to appease her in some way for his plan to work. While he definitely did not intend to go the whole nine yards with this little encounter, he would at least play the part, until it was time to seal the deal, and get what he wanted. Noticing her rather-piercing stare through his clothing, Sanis slowly slid off his Ionian spacer's jacket...letting the large garment fall to the floor. He paused, making sure that his action had gotten Sasseeri's full attention.
It did.
Sanis continued to approach, kicking off his shoes as he did. The durasteel-plated midshipmen's boots landed with a thump on the floor, as Sanis continued to pad over to Sasseeri's desk in his socks.
Next, his shell bandolier. Sanis reached for the clip, taking the ammo belt off from where it hung over his waist. As he slid it off, he held his Mandalorian Shell Gun, raising it up and kissing the wood-grain finish. Sasseeri' purr crescendoed slightly....she liked that. Smiling, Sanis placed his shell gun on the ground, atop the bandolier.
Next, his double blaster holster harness. Sanis unclipped the suspender-like apparatus that clung to his chest, letting it slide off slightly, as he then removed the holsters, placing them on the floor a few steps closer to Sasseeri. At this point, he now stood beside the desk, standing over Sasseeri's anticipating body. Sanis was now ready to draw the net even tighter...
...Sanis leaned down, and kissed Sasseeri full on her supple and eager lips. As he did so, he could think only of Daleethria, hoping she would understand his true feelings did indeed exist for her, and not the woman he now intended to deceive...)

Sasseeri hoped that this wasn't one of her day-dreams. He was acting just in the same way he was always doing when he visited her in one of the vivid phantasies she played out in her head when nothing of any importance was happening around the place.
There was only one difference - this was real.
When he finally kissed her, she felt like she was going to melt away on the spot, burning up internally with a fire that nothing could stop now.
Purring happily at the back of her throat, she snaked her arms around his neck and responded to his kiss before he could put any thought to stopping. She had him now, and she sure wasn't going to let him get away any time soon.
One arm grasping the back of his neck, pressing him closer towards her, she let the other one wander over his shoulder and towards his throat, feeling for the buttons on his shirt. This would be easy, and she had something special in mind, just in case he was going to object.
She slowly began unbuttoning the row of buttons on the front of his shirt, while hungrily using every kissing technique she had ever come across before on his lips. This continued until she had reached the last button, and he had still not tried to get away.
It seemed he was indeed willing.
Disengaging her lips from his, she settled back a little, ostensibly to catch her breath, but she let her arm sneak behind her, groping for the little cooler with the bottle of wine... and all the ice that kept it cold.
Her purring rose a little in volume, as she tried to hold his eyes mesmerized with hers. She must not let him think of anything to destroy this moment now. She would catch him in her own way, and when she did, it would be impossible for him to escape.
Her fingers finally made contact with the object she had sought, and a slight mischievous grin sneaked onto her face. She still had one hand on his neck.
Sasseeri licked over her lips suggestively, then brought forth her other hand and touched the already half melted ice-cube she had taken from the cooler to his naked chest.

(Sanis knew it would come...as Sasseeri unbuttoned his shirt. She kissed him full, and she kissed him well, exploring every bit of his lips as she did so. Sanis did not have the chance to break free and speak, as she held him like a vice. Suddenly, he could feel her working away at the buttons of his shirt...again, not unexpected. Yet, Sanis could not break the momentum. Sasseeri purred with delight, and brought an ice cube to his chest. The cold ice quickly melted against his flush skin, the water running down his abdomen. Sanis began to think quickly as Sasseeri worked her charms on him. He looked for a break in the pace, something where he could distance himself, and make his demands known. He had to find an opening, but Sasseeri's fast pace made it quite difficult for him to gain an upper hand.
Seizing the moment, Sanis reached up to Sasseeri's pointed ears, caressing them slowly. The droning purr seemed to slow, as Sasseeri's other actions, as well as her roaming hands, also came to a halt. She delighted in Sanis' massaging, and he pressed home his assault, sliding down her ears with a soft and delicate touch. In just a short moment, he could do as he pleased, which meant he could distance himself, and finally talk. But...for now, Sanis continued his work, his fingers gently sliding down Sasseeri's ears, down to her neck and shoulders, and back up again. Her body shivered with the slow and hypnotizing purr, as she delighted in the attention.)

Her fingers holding the icecube stopped dead just above his breast-bone, as a slight shiver ran through her body at the touch of his hands caressing her ears. How did he know...?
The shivers increased as his fingertips ran down her ears, over her neck and shoulders. The icecube against her fingers slowly melted away, and it seemed to almost steam beneath her fingers. She was unable to move, or even lift her hand from his chest - unable to do anything but purr with pleasure.
Then his fingers started their way up to her ears again and Sasseeri's insides seemed to melt away, just like the icecube had. The purring increased.
Mesmerised, she stared into Sanis' eyes until she seemed to drown in them.

(Sanis smiled, thankful that his caressing had done the trick in halting Sasseeri's aggressive advances. It now appeared he was in control of the situation, as her low, resonating purr seemed to resonate through him. Sanis was glad that Sasseeri's elongated ears were there for more than just excellent hearing, as he slowly rubbed his fingertips along them. Now, if only he could maintain the upper hand for a few more seconds, he could seal the deal.
Sanis situated himself on the desk, just behind Sasseeri. He continued to give her ears attention, as she capitulated to his advances. Sanis slowly began to guide her back, coaxing her to lean back against him, until her back lay against his chest, and her head on his shoulders. For a moment, Sanis looked down at her heaving breasts, rising and falling rhythmically beneath the faint red shroud she wore...
...ack! No. Sanis looked away. He wouldn't be tricked that easily...he still had things to do. Brushing away a lock of her brilliantly-white hair, Sanis leaned over her, still keeping his hands on her ears. Her eyes widened, and her tongue wet her lips expectingly. Sanis leaned down...and down...and down, until his lips hovered a breath away from her own...
...and now, for his chance.
Sanis leaned up, and turned away, closing his eyes and placing his hands calmly on Sasseeri's shoulders as she leaned against him. As he prepared to say the words he had prepared for, he kept thinking in the back of his head...
...I'd like to thank the Academy.
Sanis sighed, and gulped slightly, to emphasize the drama.)
I'm sorry, Sasseeri....I can't do this.

An exquisite feeling of total abandonment ran through her body as she felt herself melting away under Sanis' caress. This was better than anything she could ever have dreamed of achieving in such a short time.
Leaning back, she felt the heat coming from Sanis' body infusing her own. Then he slowly bent down closer and closer... she closed her eyes... shuddering in expectation of the kiss that was to come, and her lips suddenly felt parched, dry, burning. Her tongue licked slowly over her lips...
She suddenly felt him shift against her, his hands moving to her shoulders, gripping them softly, and from somewhere far away, it seemed, she heard his voice like through a dull fog.
"...sorry... can't do this..."
Her eyes still closed, she moaned slightly, and let her hand reach up behind her to touch his shoulder and neck, when the meaning of those words finally penetrated her happy daze.
Her eyes snapped open. She sat up, snatching her hand back as she turned around to look at him.
"WHAT???"

(Sanis had to keep going. If he allowed Sasseeri to use the time to re-assert herself, this wouldn't matter a bit. As Sasseeri's anger and frustration became apparent, Sanis simply kept her beside him, and began to talk...this time, some of what he was saying was partially true.)
I'm sorry Sasseeri, but...eh, my mind is a mess right now. Its not you...its me. You're incredible, but I just don't think I can do this tonight. There's too much on my mind. This whole planet, its a big place, but ever since my ship got stolen, I feel like I'm being caged up. There's no feeling like plying the space lanes, with nothing but the stars there to guide you. I haven't been space-bound in nearly a month.
(Sanis sighs)
Damn, I guess I'm rambling.
(Sanis puts an arm on Sasseeri's shoulder, and brushes away a lock of her white hair)
I'm sorry for ruining this night...I just can't help but think about recent things.
(Sanis shakes his head slightly)
I swear, if I could get my ship from that bastard Tondry, I'd leave all my problems behind me.
(Sanis looks at Sasseeri again.)
You know what I mean? Coruscant is great...but...I dunno, I just feel so restless, like I'm going to burn up if I don't get out soon.
(Sanis stands up, walking over to a window. Slowly, he raises the blinds, watching the thousands of ships entering and leaving the Coruscant atmosphere. Sanis puts a hand on the glass as he watches.)
Space...

Her initial anger at his sudden retreat abated as she listened to him, hanging on every one of his words. She could see that he was troubled, and she cursed herself for not seeing it when he had arrived.
Of course, she would have to do something about this - it would not do to have her darling Sanis suffer so much just because his ship had been stolen.
If that was what it took to make him happy and make him turn his attention back on her, then that was what she would do.
Sasseeri walked over to where he was standing looking into space, and put her arms around him from behind. She whispered into his ear.
"How can jI help you, sweethearrrt?"

(Sanis continued to look out into the sea of lights as Sasseeri embraced him.)
I have to meet with Pierce Tondry tonight. I received a letter from him. At eight, I will be going to his penthouse suite, and probably end up walking into a trap in doing so.
(Sanis sighs)
I don't have a choice. I've got to find my ship. I've put half my life into the Layla, and I'm not about to walk away from it now, even though this is going to be dangerous.
(Sanis closes his eyes)
I just wish I didn't have to go at it alone. I'm good, but I can't take Tondry on by myself under those terms. I'm only one man.
(Sanis turned to face Sasseeri)
Sasseeri, do you have enough influence to compromise an imperial estate? The only way I can make it out of this is if I have some help.
(Sanis sighed)
I need you, Sasseeri.

Instantly, she got worried. She'd heard something about this Pierce Tondry, or General Tondry, as he also liked to be called. According to her sources, he was something high up in the Imperial Military, probably even Intelligence.
Of course she had had no idea that he was behind the theft of Sanis' ship - but it made her wonder what had caused that move. People like this Tondry seemed to go through life seeking a reason for every action, every move they made, and something had to be behind all this.
She would have to investigate.
But this was not for now. Now, she had to turn all her attention to Sanis and his predicament. No matter what it took, she would help.
Sasseeri stepped around him, her arms still clinging to him, until she was face to face with him again. She put all her affection for him into her words as she spoke to him in a low whisper, trying to catch his eyes, hoping against hope to snatch another kiss before he'd let her go. This was too good an opportunity, even if he had his thoughts on something else.
"jI wjill send some of my men wjith you, no? jIf Tondry decjides to play games, we can fjight hjim. jIf he jinsjists on you meetjing him by yourrrself, my men wjill be monjitorrrjing frrrom nearrrby, and wjill come jin if back-up jis needed?"
She hoped that that would be enough. Just to make sure, she asked him.
"jIs therrre anythjing else you wjill need that jI could prrrovjide?"

(Sanis looked into Sasseeri's deep blue eyes. Maybe he was imagining things, but he began to suspect that her feelings for him went a little deeper than the flesh. Something about that thought made him feel a lot dirtier than he already felt. It was one thing to use a user, but if Sasseeri really did feel that way, and it wasn't simply an animalistic attraction, then there were going to be some hurt feelings inevitably down the road. He'd been put in the situation before. Women had occasionally fallen for Sanis in that way, and it was not an easy thing at all when he had to tell them that he didn't feel the same way.
Sanis pushed the thoughts away. He had to let it go for now. He wasn't doing this out of spite...he was doing this because he didn't have any options left. Leading Sasseeri on was a cold thing to do, and Sanis could only hope that she would understand, whenever it came to the point of her finding out.
Sanis placed his hands gently on Sasseeri's shoulders. She looked at him expectingly. Sanis knew she wanted much more, but he couldn't...for so many reasons. Sanis cared very much for Daleethria, more so than any girl he had ever met. It had made coming to see Sasseeri extremely hard for him to do, and now Sanis felt even worse about his actions. It was the first time Sanis admitted to himself that he had feelings like that. So many other girls were in his life, but they had all been there for recreational fun, and nothing more. Now, the stakes were higher, and Sanis began to find a hint of that feeling that others always said they had. And now, Sanis began to have a taste of that awful feeling that had driven girls to leave in tears when he left them. All in all, it was an eye-opening experience...and Sanis hoped he would never have to be put in a position like this again.
Sanis smiled at Sasseeri. She cared for him enough to put her business on the line for him. Sending her men to Tondry's penthouse to protect him was extremely risky...yet she did it without so much as a hesitation. If anything, Sanis felt cruel if he didn't acknowledge what she was doing in some gracious manner. Affections aside, Sasseeri was willing to take a huge risk...all for him.)
No, Sasseeri. You're already doing so much for me.
(Sanis leaned her head forward slightly, and kissed her on her forehead. There was no deceit in this kiss, for it was one of true gratitude. Whatever happened afterwards, Sanis at least wanted Sasseeri to know that he did truly appreciate her help.)
Thank you.
(With that, Sanis slowly separated himself from Sasseeri, slowly putting his clothes back on, and gathering his gear. Occasionally, he would look up at her and smile. Perhaps he was seeing her in a new light now...not as an intimidating figure to avoid, but perhaps as a friend. Ah, but that would depend on how she took the truth...if she ever knew.)

She somehow felt elated, even though the afternoon hadn't turned out quite as she had expected. Maybe it was the simple fact that she felt content with what she had, with what Sanis had chosen to share with her. Maybe she even felt a little scared at the depth of her own feelings, because this wasn't just the usual man-hunt she'd engage in whenever she felt a little bored.
When he kissed her on the forehead, it felt good. It had a certain touch of finality about it, yet didn't mark the end of a mating ritual, but, underneath her so openly aggressive courting behaviour towards him, the beginning of a friendship.
As he moved away from her, she let her fingertips linger on his skin before he could move out of reach. It was like soaking up the last scent, the last taste of him.
She shook her head slightly, to get rid of the deeply unsettling feelings inside her, but a vague anxiety remained.
Sasseeri walked back over to her desk, taking once again the seat behind it, as she looked at Sanis picking up his assorted weaponry and gadgets, and putting them into place on his body before slipping into his coat.
She choose a no-nonsense business tone, keeping all trace of her former seductiveness out of her voice, when she finally felt ready to address him again.
"Therrre jis anotherrr matterrr that concerrrns me, Sanjis. jIt has come to my attentjion that therrre jis a bounty on yourrr head, and that someone jis afterrr you forrr that bounty. You should know that jI have taken steps to have that boutnyhunterrr dealt wjith."

(As Sanis dressed himself, he could only assume that Sasseeri was referring to the reptilian huntress that had been stalking him recently. She was definitely a hinderance, sporting enough weaponry to make Sanis duck for cover.
Sanis slipped his spacer's jacket on, and nodded at Sasseeri.)
Ah yeah...I know the hunter you're talking about.
(Sanis walked into the refresher, retrieving his deactivated MARCUS module. When he returned, he had a slight smile on his face.)
If you can help it...don't kill 'em. I'd really like to sit this hunter down and have a chat with them. Whatever they're after me for...I've got a nagging feeling its more than just business as usual.
(Sanis picked up his shell gun, smiled at Sasseeri, and twirled the weapon in his hand several times, before fluidly returning it to its belt loop.)
I've gotta go now, Sasseeri. I don't wanna keep Mr. Tondry waiting.

She nodded at Sanis gravely.
"That should not be a prrroblem. jI have orrrderrred that she would be gjiven to me aljive. Prrreferrrably undamaged. She jis yourrrs to deal wjith afterrr herrr capturrre."
She leant forward, as he was about to open the door.
"jI wjish you well, Sanjis. jI hope my men wjill be helpful to you. jIf you want to wajit forrr a ljittle whjile outsjide, they wjill jojin you therrre shorrtly."
Then he left, with an achknowledging look, and Sasseeri sat back in her chair with a loud sigh.
What had just happened? She had gone into this meeting fully determined to win him over, and instead he had somehow twisted things around, had somehow won her over.
Yet, this wasn't the time to consider everything - she could do that later.
Sasseeri activated her comm-link, and called Zakath and Onslaught to meet Sanis outside. Fortunately, they were both available right then - Olorin had better stay back; it wouldn't do to have Sanis see that he was associated with her after that botched attempt to shoot Dalee out of her seat a few days ago.
Once that was done, she arranged for a credit transfer to a certain account she had been given by the bounty hunter she had hired to bring her Azure Regalia.
Only then did she sit back and try to make sense out of the afternoon's events.

(Before Sanis left, he placed a small HoloNet comm unit into Sasseeri's palm, closing her fingers around it. She didn't have to ask what it was for. In the event that Sanis was in big trouble, it would be his only way out, so to speak.) Sanis smiled, and walked out of the office, escorted by Zakath and Onslaught. Together, the trio went down the turbolift, and subsequently out the building. Once on the street, Sanis made arrangements with the two men, telling them where to meet up, and when. It was still an hour until the appointment, and Sanis had to get ready. As Sanis hailed a hovercab, he hoped that Daleethria was doing okay with her part of the plan, and he hoped she was safe.)
