Sanis Prent
Feb 13th, 2001, 08:17:56 PM
Outside the Imperial Center Database Facility, Coruscant

(Sanis quickly climbed out of the landspeeder, allowing enough space for Daleethria to slide into the driver's seat. As she did so, Sanis placed a blaster in her lap.)

Now listen, if you see anything suspicious outside, just ping my HoloNet receiver 3 times. If things get bad, you get the hell outta here, understand?

(Daleethria nodded, and Sanis began to walk across the street, carrying a briefcase and a laptop. He had dressed well today, looking like a well to-do professional. Before he reached the building, he decided to make a phone call. He went over to a Holo-pay booth, inserted two credits, and punched in a comm address. A familiar orange-haired person replied on the other end.)

Hey, how ya doin? I was just callin to see if you wanted to do lunch later today?

(As Sanis talked, he casually checked his chronometer. He was on time.)

Leeloo sat waiting and wonding--She received the message from Sanis and rolled her eyes.

"Sure, as long as I can bring a date along.. anyway, we're ready."

(Sanis continues to talk on the Holo-comm)

Yeah, that sounds good. Go ahead and book reservations. At any rate, I'm late for a business meeting. See you then.

(Sanis ends the transmission, and picks up his briefcase, walking towards the entrance of the database building. However, Sanis had forgotten his laptop computer, which was still lying by the phone booth.

Whistling to himself, Sanis walked through the glass revolving door.)

She put her comm unit away and walked a few blocks. Leeloo felt the weight of her blaster against her leg as she walked--

Aproaching a building she noticed a laptop sitting near the phone booth and walked over to it picking it up and walking away iat the same pace as if nothing had happened. She was sure hardly anyone seen her grab it and she headed towards a near-by nature reserve.

Taking a deep breath, enjoying the not-so-polluted air. She took a seat and looked at the laptop in her hands.

Nichos drops in behind her. He looks at whats in her hand. Then he looks to where they were heading. "The Nature Reserve?" he thought quietly. Leeloo can sense him from behind.

She turns around and sees Nichos there, grinning at her. He shifts his eyes to the laptop and leans forward to whisper.

"Where'd ya get that?"

Leeloo looked up to see Nichos, a fellow Jedi and friend.

"Hey.. where'd I get what? Ohh.. the men's refresher :) Nah, I 'picked it up' somewhere.."

She smiled at him then turned back to laptop wondering about opening it--

(Sanis walked casually up to the front help desk. A rather bored-looking Rodian looked up from her morning newspaper.)

Rodian Receptionist: Excuse me sir, is there something I can help you with?

(Sanis adjusts his tie a little, as he laughs)

Yeah, I suppose. I was just coming by to run a few personal background checks for a couple of employees I'm about to hire. I was wondering, since they appear to be offworlders, if you guys here would be able to help me out with this. My local database just doesn't have enough info to help me out.

(The Rodian slowly folds her newspaper, and points to the left)

Rodian Receptionist: Our citizen database is down that hall, up the escalator, and the fifth room on your left.

(Sanis looked in that direction. Man, the Imperial Center Database was huge. Sanis turned back to the receptionist)

Thank you very much.

(Sanis picked up his briefcase, and went on his way)

Nichos smiles at the joke Leeloo made. He is tempted to use it to insult her, but he holds back. His eyes shift to the laptop again.

Nichos sits down on a bench and takes his shades off. He clips them to his shirt and looks at Leeloo.

"So...You gonna open it?"

Ice Fox

OOC: Is this open? If it isn't, tell me, and I'll edit this. If it is, then I'll just go along with what's happening.

::Fox is watching from outside as Sanis Prent walks into the building, leaving his lap-top behind. He then sees a red headed Jedi woman pick up the lap-top, with another male Jedi following.::

She stares down at it and looks back up at him.

"Hmm.. I dont know, why??"

He shrugged and she turned back to the computer. Leeloo picked it up and looked at it carefully and she assumed that the two black buttons on it's almost flawless sliver case. The jedi pressed them and the top rose up slowly she looked at it's blank viewscreen--

"Well.. I opened it :) *

"I just wanted to know if you were going to open it, and you did."

(As Sanis made his way to the citizen database room, he looked at the door signs as he passed. As he continued to walk, he found what he was looking for...)

Men's Room

(Sanis nonchalantly opened the door, and went inside. He found a vacant stall. Going inside, he locked the door behind him, and opened up his briefcase, removing a familiar pink object.)

MARCUS' visual indicators activated as Sanis opened the briefcase.

Ah, thank you for letting me out of that case. Did you realize that you left an old half-eaten peanut butter and jelly sandwich in there? At any rate, I would strongly advise that you dispose of it as soon as possible. It is unsanitary.

(Sanis placed a cupped hand over MARCUS' voice emitter)

Quiet down...I'll throw it away later. Right now, we've got work to do.

(Sanis reached above the toilet, opening a small vent that led into an air duct. He then reached down, picked MARCUS up, and placed him in the vent.)

Okay...you know what to do from here, right? Just remember to transmit on an undermask signal. With an active search parameter open, it shouldn't be noticed.

MARCUS v4
Feb 13th, 2001, 10:46:34 PM
MARCUS blinked once, and spoke several decibels quieter.

Correct. An undermasked signal should appear as background noise if synchronized with an active search feed. As for the security protocols...

MARCUS extended his frame open, and his two small manipulator arms came out, mimicking a bodybuilder's pose.

...they stand no chance against my superior logic skills.

MARCUS quickly turned toward the air duct, and began to wheel away through the ventilation network.

Feb 13th, 2001, 10:52:35 PM
(Sanis watched as MARCUS wheeled away, and carefully put the vent cover back on the air duct. To keep with the ruse, Sanis even gave the toilet a flush, walked out of the stall, and washed his hands. A few minutes later, he was back out in the hall. Not losing stride, Sanis reached up to his belt, removing a small pill-shaped object, and placing it in his left ear. It was a miniature hands-free comm device, complete with a sensitive microphone. Having done that, Sanis entered the citizen database room, finding a vacant computer terminal along the far wall.)

MARCUS v4
Feb 13th, 2001, 11:04:29 PM
MARCUS moved quickly in the air vent, having been given the files of the building's layout. The droid module deftly moved as fast as his rollerball propulsion would allow him to. As MARCUS rounded a turn, a filthy rat squeaked at him.

Oh how rude. Shoo, you disgusting creature, out of my way.

The rat wasn't moving, and began to squeak louder, scurrying closer to MARCUS. The air vent wasn't wide enough for MARCUS to easily maneuver around the rodent.

Shoo, shoo. Go find a piece of cheese, or something to that effect. I do not want to have shed hair clog my servos.

The rat got even closer, and MARCUS activated his small manipulator arms

I wouldn't advise trying to attack me. There is an 89.45 percent chance that I will, pardon the phrase, kick your tail.

The rat lunged at MARCUS, trying to bite one of his visual indicators. The quick little droid module dodged the attack, and swatted at the rat with his small arc-welder. The smell of burning fur accompanied the rat's agonizing shrieks. The wounded and startled rodent began to quickly limp away. MARCUS sighed, and retracted his manipulator arms.

All in all, I would say that rodents have as much logical reasoning as most humans I have encountered.

With that, MARCUS began once more toward his destination.

(As Sanis settled down to the terminal, he reached in his pocket, pulling out his portable comm device. He entered in the communications address, and began to call Leeloo. After a few beeps, she picked up.)

Leeloo? Hey, this is Sanis. Look, could you do me a favor? I'm away from the office, so could you please log onto my computer and see if I have any email? Thanks.

(Sanis deactivated the comm before Leeloo could even reply. After he put the comm back in his pocket, Sanis began to log into the database network)

"Check his mail? Umm.. ok."

Leeloo began to type-- Sanis had one message.

Hmm.. She thought to her self and wondered if Nichos had read the message, oh well didnt matter. She was the one with the computer afterall.

She glanced at the numbers one more time memorizing them instanly "102.45.456.3324.565.3. " After hiting a few more keys the--

As MARCUS finally found his way into the database mainframe housing, he stopped as his external communication's port detected a directives change.

Oh my, it appears that an outside link has matched my output-broadcast serial address. What impeccable timing indeed.

Quickly, MARCUS began to position himself at one of the datalink ports on the mainframe, ready to directly access the database. At the same time, the droid module sent a transmission the the microcomm in Sanis' ear

Sanis, it appears that your associate has completed her part of the job. I am now linked via input-output serial address, and am ready to transmit at will. I must say, with such punctuality, you should consider working with her again.

MARCUS' visual input devices began to blink slightly

Sanis, stand by. I am isolating the autonomous security check around each access level of the database. Estimate five minutes until completed. I recommend you initiate a random search while I circumvent the security.

Feb 14th, 2001, 12:05:21 AM
(While Sanis waited, he decided to take MARCUS' advice and start up a few random background searches. After all, a long period of inactivity would appear to be conspicuous. He tries to think of a few names, which he enters into the search program.)

Mike Rotch
Harry Peters
Ivana Humpalot
Sal Manella

(Sanis laughed. So what if they were fake...he might as well have fun seeing if they existed.)

MARCUS v4
Feb 14th, 2001, 12:26:54 AM
Within seconds, MARCUS began to interface into the data port of the mainframe. The security checks occurred on a multi-level basis, with data existing on a gradually decreasing scale as the security checks intensified. The first three security checks were bypassed and nullified within seconds. When MARCUS approached the fourth, it got a little trickier. The security check itself was designed with multi-level redundancy. Therefore, MARCUS had to nullify secondary, and even tertiary subroutines. The process took two minutes to execute, but MARCUS finally nullified the fourth security node, and proceeded to the last.

The fifth security layer was a work of art...well, at least to MARCUS. Not only was the self-protection of the node multi-tiered, but it was also cross-partitioned. This increased the probability of running into a dummy subroutine, which would then activate the node. It was quite difficult to tell which of the subroutines, and in which sequence, would completely nullify the entire node.

MARCUS increased his processing power to maximum capacity, determining the several million possibilities of subroutine order commands that could be given. A few hundred thousand could be immediately ruled out due to the fact that it would be a needless resource drain to activate the subroutines in such a way. Several minutes passed, and MARCUS was able to limit the number down to three. They each were equally probable to be chosen, but only one would actually commence the nullify command. The others all lead to the node's activation.

MARCUS was perplexed as to how he should continue, until he derived an interesting plan. Noting every adjacent connection path from each subroutine, MARCUS copied an exact version into his temporary memory slot. With the section of the node basically reconstructed in MARCUS' own memory, he could now simulate the outcome at will.

From that point, it only took a few seconds to determine which subroutine would lead to a node-nullification command. Quickly, MARCUS activated the subroutine, and the fifth and final security node was deactivated.

Letting out a simulated sigh, MARCUS contacted Sanis.

Sanis, I have bypassed database security. I await your orders to begin the multi-level search.

(Sanis laughs quietly to himself)

Oh man...17 Mike Rotch's???

(Suddenly, Sanis' comm goes off, and MARCUS informs him of the disabled security)

Okay, good work MARCUS.

(Sanis closes down the other searches he was running. He speaks to MARCUS, but in a low voice)

Alright Marcus, here we go. Stand by for full search...in five...four...three...

(As Sanis counts down, he enters a name into the search parameter field...NICHOS MARR)

...two...one...

(Sanis hit the enter key)

...go.

MARCUS v4
Feb 14th, 2001, 12:48:58 AM
As soon as Sanis said "Go", Marcus began to activate the exact same search parameter for Nichos Marr. He searched the entire archive under the search constraint in a bottom-up format. This served two purposes. One: Sanis would be accessing the non-encrypted data on Marr anyways, and there was no sense redundantly accessing information. Two: When and if the database technicians figured out security was down, they would enter the subroutines to activate the security nodes from the inside out. By accessing the more heavily-encrypted data first, MARCUS ensured this would not happen.

As MARCUS began to read each pertinent file, it was simultaneously sent across his output data port, through the port address that it was synchronized to. So, as Marcus continued to open files under NICHOS MARR, the files were subsequently transferred to the laptop Leeloo was using, with nearly real-time accessability.

After about a minute of transferring data, MARCUS chimed back to Sanis

Sanis, file transfer complete.

Great work MARCUS, now get back in the air duct and meet me back at the restroom. Leeloo and Nichos have what they need, now lets get out of here before we become conspicuous.

Was it possible she had a brother?? Maybe after she had left the planet.. did they live?

"Umm.. according to this. You're my brother."

She watched his expression change and guessed he hadnt preditcted this either--

He searched the Force for answers, somehow it felt right...He looked up at Leeloo.

"Who would've thought. I guess you are my sister." Nichos babbled.

He gets up slowly.

"What a surprise...I need some water."

He was still adjusting to and understanding this new truth.

A few minutes later, Sanis could hear a faint whirring sound. As Sanis looks up, he sees MARCUS rolling out of the vent. Sanis catches the droid module, and quickly begins to close the vent.)

So, everything went off without a hitch?

MARCUS v4

MARCUS' visual indicators blinked a few times

I have completed the task at hand flawlessly. Was there any doubt in my abilities? The security systems in the database were quite intriguing. I wish we had more time here so I could document them for analysis. Most intriguing security nodes, indeed.

Yeah yeah, you can tell me all about the nodes later. Right now, we need to get the Frell outta here.

(Pausing to give a flush to maintain the ruse, Sanis leaves the stall, walking out of the Men's bathroom, and walks through the lobby. Strange...for such a big slicer job, this thing was going without a hitch. Perhaps he'd have to let MARCUS become more acquainted with the Imperial Center Database's security nodes. This place was easy pickings, it seemed.)

Leeloo looked at Nichos, her brother then turned back to the laptop.

"Uh.. you want to read the rest? How old are you again..? You're younger than me, right?"

"Well now I have a little brother to annoy.. wait, dont they annoy their older siblings?"

Her smile droped and she started to laugh again.

(Several minutes later, Sanis exits the Database building. Confidently whistling a tune to himself, he takes a leisurely stroll down the sidewalk, until he arrives at a bench about a quarter of a mile away. Finding Leeloo and Nichos, Sanis sits down with them. As he does so, he flips out his comm unit, opening transmission to Daleethria.)

Hey Dalee, the job's done. Can you bring the speeder around to 123rd and 39th?

(Sanis waited for the confirmation, and closed the transmission. He then turned to Nichos and Leeloo.)

Alright now...I've done my part. Lets see the credits.

"What credits?.....Just kidding."

He Force Calls a briefcase.

"There you go Mr. Prent. Thank you for all your help. I really appreciate it. Thank your droid too."

Nichos smiles.

"All the money is in there. See you again someday."

Daleethria
Feb 14th, 2001, 07:11:50 PM
Daleethria put the blaster that Sanis gave her in the glove compartment. She had other ways to defend herself and a blaster seemed too ... ordinary.

A message was received on her comm and broadcasted feedback to Sanis to confirm. Already knowing the layout of this sector of the city, Daleethria made her way to 123rd and 39th with the quickest route that her mind laid out for her.

Well, I hope you find whatever the hell you're looking for in that. Good luck.

(Sanis gets up from the bench just as a speeder comes to a stop nearby)

Daleethria
Feb 14th, 2001, 08:11:25 PM

(Sanis straddled over the door, tossing the briefcase in the back seat. He situated himself in the driver's seat after Dalee moved over - after all, she was still relatively new to town...didn't want to get her lost in the big city. After nonchalantly waving goodbye to Leeloo and Nichos, Sanis turned to Daleethria, removed his sunglasses, and smiled.)

Well Dalee, we've got a little more money to go on.

(Sanis began to think about going back to the apartment, but he wasn't sure if he could trust Younakka to stay out of his affairs, especially after pulling off a job like this. And on top of everything else...his freighter was still gone. Sanis tried not to think about it, because just a passing thought on the matter was enough to make his blood boil. Oh the poor idiot who stole his ship...he was in for Hell when Sanis caught up with him.)

Hmmm...what to do...

(Sanis looked at Daleethria, as if to ask if she had any great ideas.)

Daleethria
Feb 14th, 2001, 08:27:29 PM
She tilted her head to the side and slowly moved to look at the glove compartment. Opening it up, she returned the blaster that Sanis had given her.

Daleethria pulled the sunglasses from out of his pocket and put them on, leaning back in the seat to get comfortable.
