View Full Version : Admins : Current status of the "Offical" NR

Well, the "Offical" NR board may as well be declared dead, in my opinion. For SWFan's intents and purposes, it does nothing.
I'd like to dispose of them for the sake of a more balanced and interesting universe. I intend to launch a new NR board for fleet RP purposes, and currently follow the fleet rules as they stand. I do, however, intend to consolidate what the NR "officially" has, and bring it inline with current standards.
Any objections?

Can you elaborate? Do you intend to just assume command command of the entire NR fleet?

No, I am going to assume control of the entire fleet.
Just kidding. I was actually going to let Mr. Tinkles rule the NR...with Morgan as a figurehead.

Ooh, I've been wanting to get involved with the NR for awhile, just haven't had time.
I don't know why, but I thought that movie was funny, and I liked it. :)

Firstly, you might want to see if you can get in touch with Yog (he's not on often, though, so that may be difficult). If you're not able to do that, speak to Tomahawk and I over AIM and we'll see if we can't whip up a rank and a command for you. If and when this goes through, you'll be given access to the New Republic Fleet ezboard, and so on and so on.

I have a certain NR character that I've kept in mothballs for just such an occasion :)

well first off, if you would like to see the baord one more time, thy have a active team there of 7 people, at the moment Leia there is haveing some computer problems and can only come on at certain times, plus to the fact she has given her promission to her "active" team to help in the GMA v Via/Vong war, and has sent a small task force in at the control of "Angelink11" so if that is dead i donno what you call alive...

hello i onject. what will happen to Wraith Squadron if this happens and it isn't dead not yet anyway...not that i know of. but there are active members there still. and that small task force is true...and does anyone now what has happened to Dodonna? (sp)

But the NR is still highly inactive as a Force at SWFans.net, so this move I beleive would be for the best. I'm sure Morgan would bring over all active and willing members to the new board. It's about TIME someone did this. :)

I wholeheartedly agree.
Half the people at the NR board are kinda in some kind of weird delusion of some parallel universe. I remember at one time they even admitted planet Earth into the NR X_x.

Yea that is wierd with that happening. but also what will happen about the task force sent to help the Via what will happen to that and all the allies it has.

Can I claim the Jedi dead and take it over?
Do what Morgan is doing :p
Seriously, we need some good active Jedi again.
And not talking about Jedis that command fleets, just Jedi who KNOW how to be one.
But at least Morgan is heading in one good way with his idea at least. We need the good doers. Too many evil groups popping up out of the wood work that its disheartening to see no one actually challenging them.

Dodonna will become active once again when the frigates are complete, approximately 1 month.

So you want to take me out of the NR...sorry to burst your bubble but nearly everyone that is in my Squad is force sensitive. and you can't declare me dead...and i don't have a sense of humor.

There's no real need for a new NR board. There is an additional one, created by Yog and maintained by him and I, located here:
pub51.ezboard.com/bhome1 (http://pub51.ezboard.com/bhome1)
It can easily be modified into something workable. If you'd like, Morgan, I'll give you admin access if you think you can contribute to its aesthetic appeal.

Jedah, I think the Jedi like a more "storytelling" approach to things. Not just a flat out "I wanna fight a Jedi" thread. Maybe you should make your own Jedi character and (sarcasm)shed some light. Show them what a true Jedi is like!(/sarcasm)

Evidently you missed the sarcasim in my post. But dont worry, sure you'll learn to read between the lines eventually.
Actually I would like to see more good groups was my point, which is why said Morgan was going in a right direction. Only would also like to see more Jedi or at least active ones because what makes SW shine and attracts most of us here or did is partly due to the Jedi or at least some side of good trying to stop or defeating the bad. Its the never ending battle. Or suppose to be but few good guys means that classic fight never even gets a chance to start.
And hmmm where did I say anything about just flat out fights?
Apparantly I didnt. So stop trying to put words in my mouth, it only makes you look like some sort of person who has no clue to what he is saying or poor judgement.
As for your last statement......Jedi Jedah.....hmm funny but I already started that. Sort of. But not to show them how its done. Its a plot if not storyline. For fun no less. How shocking is that.
In other words, thanks for the idea, but beat you to the punch. And oh yeah....grow up.

I never said that you stated anything about flat out fights It's just what some Sith do. I didn't mean you when I said that, sorry if it came out that way.
I never knew you made a Jedi, so you'll have to forgive me. I haven't been up-to-date on current events. I've just noticed how you say the Jedi need to be more active and what they need to do, so I suggested you show them how it's done. Think nothing of my senseless dribble..I need sleep.

Well sorry if I came off sorta mean there.
As for the fights that Sith do, when the board first started that was about all that was every done, but then it moved into other areas and stories among other ideas then caught fire as people wanted new and more creative RPing. But even so fighting someone one on one has been a tried and true RP experience for many that can be fun, and less headacks then writing up a story that has to have people helping out etc. But its one thing that helps a person to learn the ropes when they first start and most of us here did start out that way or somewhere similar. And eventually move on the more story line plots etc.
Dont have a Jedi character as such that is at the Jedi boards, just doing a RP story as a Jedi sort of. Its complicated little tale...or might be havent really decided. but doesnt really play into anything else.
As for showing them how it is done. Aint my place to show anyone how anything is done. They got the people, they got the skill. They can do it themselves. Besides been a cranky old long winded sith for some time now so dont think I'd be an ideal Jedi.:)

How will a new board make the New Republic more active? The board they have right now is fine. Just needs more active people that want to make a commitment.

Well, I like the idea of basing a NR board on active roleplayers at swfans.net, but I need more info what you are planning to do.
If moving is the solution to the NR's recruitment problems, I would suggest the allready existing Home 1 is used for this purpose: pub51.ezboard.com/bhome1 (http://pub51.ezboard.com/bhome1)
Shipyards, construction yards etc can be moved, and any aestethic or functional modification can be made that you think is necessary. Give me a call and you will recieve adm access there.
Morgan, could you contact me either through mail or AIM when you have the time. I would like to know more about what you have in mind. :)

Actually that isn't a bad idea......I mean when I was Jedi, even then it was only like two three ppl who actually did anything. So not much has changed since then. This board doesn't need a new NR.....it Needs new Jedi.

Rama, you're right about the board needing more Jedi, but it also needs more NR. The Empire runs amuck around here and no one even really attempts or even can stop them... so having some people around to represent the NR wouldn't be such a bad thing either.

Okay... enough. I am sick of hearing nothing but degarding remarks about the New Republic from you people. I have tried, time and again to get information out of some of you, and what comes of it? Nothing but unanswered e-mails and posts. I can't count the number of times that I have gone over to the GJO asking for people over there that claim to be members of the NR to come over to the board and post. I have also gone to other boards trying to recruit, but I guess SW Fans.net's reputation preceeds itself, for I cannot, for the life of me, get people from other boards to join up. The last straw for me was when one of the most respected members of the GJO, who also runs a NR character said that he was going to stop by. Well, I allowed him into a private forum, and when I hand't heard form him a week later, stopped by the temple to remind him. He never showed up.
Therefore, because of the aparent lack of concern, and the prevailing feeling that there needs to be a 'new" New Republic, I feel that there is little choice but to post something that I have been holding onto for a while.
After careful consideration of both the pros and the cons, I have decided that it is for the best that the board, the New Republic Central Command withdraw from participation with Star Wars Fans.net roleplay and politics. This decision was not made on the spur of the moment, but rather has been discussed with several people on the board, and offline friends that know about Star Wars Fans.net, to ensure that I was not the only one that felt this way, and to make sure this was not a rash decision.
There are many reasons as to why we have come to this decision, but I will not bore you with them in this post. Just know that there is just cause for us to withdraw, and to begin again.
For those of you that are wondering who I am to make such an announcement, let me tell you: I have been a member of ezboard for about two years, and have put in my dues at both the Greater Jedi Order, and SWFans.net itself as well as nearly 30 other boards I visit regularly. One of the reasons that some of you may not know me is that, for a while, I left the Order about a year ago after finding out that a fellow Jedi was slandering me. Despite that, I came back and once again, tried to create my own little niche within the Order. Although, because of certain circumstances, I can only be found within the Temple, and even there, only rarely.
Anyway, like several others in the recent past, we are beginning our own plans for a new, and different role playing group similar to that Star Wars Fans.net has to offer. While the others attempted in the past have either failed within a short period of time, or never actually gotten off the ground, I know that this attempt will be successful.
I realize that because I am the leader of this movement, I will probably not be welcomed back to a few of the boards that I have for several years frequented. But that is a sacrifice I am willing to accept so that the New Republic Central Command can grow into the board I know it can become; not only a place for many to come and role play, but somewhere for people to come and make friends. That has not been a possibility with Star Wars Fans.net, and I am sure that those of you out there that are administrators of your own boards can understand my desire to make something of the board.
Now, before you point fingers and say that it is my own fault that there are so few members, let me make a comment in my own defense. I have sent out countless e-mails and spoken to people time and again at various boards. They say that they will come over, but they never do. I will not try to convince you that I did everything possible to recruit people, for I know that whatever your opinion is at this time, that is how it will probably remain. Just know that after months of talking to people at over 30 different boards, I feel as though I did all I could to get people to participate in Star Wars Fans.net roleplay.
I have a feeling that this announcement may be a shock to some of you that are actually taking the time to read this, but believe me when I say that I have not tried to hide my feelings about the N.R.C.C.’s role at SWFans.net. Recently, I have alluded to the fact that I and several others were contemplating a split off. Whether or not my comments were noticed, I don’t know, and don’t care, because it would not be the first time that something I said was ignored. That is the reason this message is being posted at so many different boards: I want to do my part to make sure that everyone knows what’s going on because I know how poor communication can be from one board to another, or even between members of one board.
Before I close this message, I want to say that I have enjoyed getting to know those of you that I have, and have enjoyed role playing alongside you. I wish you all the best, and will not soon forget the hours that we have spent together on the boards.
For those of you that want to know the reasons behind this break off, or want to know more about it, feel free to stop by the board (the link is at the top of the post,) or e-mail me at chiefofstateleiaorganasolo@juno.com or princessleiaorganasolo@hotmail.com I will be more than happy to talk to you about whatever you want to discuss.
I hope to see you around, and may the Force be with each and every one of you.

I wasn't actually planning on posting this for about another month, but since there are those of you out there that believe that you can do a better job, I thought that I should clear the way so that you could do what you wanted. Not that the NRCC's presence would have stopped you.
As for Wraith Squadron: (Kyle Horn's squadron.) He has been running it off of the NRCC board, and was concerned about what would happen to his ships. It is his squadron and therefore his decision as to whether it stays here or moves to the other board, or becomes a member of both.
