OOC: Closed challenge.

IC: Talus. One of the five habitable planets in the Corellian system. Talus is a blue, white and green world the same size as its sister planet Tralus, and both orbit a common center of gravity (where Centerpoint Station is located). Together they are referred to as the Double Worlds, and both are ruled by the elected Federation of the Double Worlds, or Fed-Dub.

Kaine smiled as his X-Wing set down upon the planet. Fresh air rushed into the cockpit, as it started to lift up. Shortly after, Kaine was out of his X-Wing, and circling it, while scanning the area. He knew that no Jedi would be nearby, but he checked anyway. As he found none, Kaine went back to his X-Wing, and took off his pilots suit. Underneath, He had his normal attire.

He started to run through the forest, scanning and searching for a Jedi along the way. He eventually would find one, and when he did, he would beat the pitiful being down to a pulp.

“I'll find one .. I will..”

Kaine suddenly stopped running. He felt a presence. One that had a strange aura of light about it. A Jedi. Kaine grinned. Today wasn't that Jedi's lucky day..

*Thirteen-year-old Damel padded silently through the forest, the small and skinny shadow blending into the mottled green patches where the light tangled itself into threads with the leaves above. It was times like these- quiet, meditative moments- that forced her to slow down, to go through the day more deliberately. Lately, it had seemed like her life had been shot off into hyperspace with no calculations, no coordinates to aim for... just speed. She laughed softly. A bad analogy, but one nonetheless...

The steady tread on the muffled leaves halted abruptly. Damel cocked her head to one side- there was something...

Suddenly, she snapped her gaze in the direction of a large, gnarled tree. A Sith- she could feel the Dark Side radiating out from the being, but something was different. She couldn't tell what, but it unnerved her slightly.

The person, whoever it was, was out for blood... that much she could tell. She set out at a cautious jog towards the gnarled tree, where the figure seemed to be heading. As she ran, a nagging thought pushed at the corners of her mind. It was a troubling thought. That presence in the Force... No, it couldn't be, she told herself. But as she stopped, pressing her hands against the bark of the tree, on the opposite side as the approaching figure, she knew...

Stepping out from behind the tree which had hidden her from sight until now, it was still something of a shock to Damel to see his face.

“Ah, Damel. How .. pleasant.”

The Fallen Jedi grinned at the younger Jedi Knight. His eyes were as cold as ice, as he glared at the Jedi. Kaine had hoped he would find anyone but Damel, but that was just too bad. Damel would be hurt today. Kaine simply grinned again.

“Why are you out here?”

"The same reason you used to be."

She had known that Kaine had turned, but she hadn't seen him since. The change in her friend was stunning to the youngster. The glaring red eyes weren't Kaine... what had happened to the youth she had known?

"Wandering around, watching out for things.. just thinking."

Come on, Kaine... this isn't you. You're in there, I know it... She saw his eyes narrow, and checked her instinct to reach for her saber hilt. Sith or not, he was still her friend... and friends didn't fight each other.

At least she hoped so.

Kaine simply chuckled. His firey red eyes glared down upon the younger Damel. He suddenly lashed out with his right boot, and it connected with Damel's stomach. The power of it made the Jedi to double over, and he simply smiled.

“See how weak you are? Look how much stronger I am .. Cant you see it? The Light is weak! To think I used to like being a Jedi..”

Kaine laughed at the thought of him being a Jedi. The Jedi Knight had started to straighten up, while the Fallen Jedi loomed over her. He smiled at her. He suddenly drove his knee into her gut, making her double over more than before.

“Use the pain .. Embrace it .. Take your anger out on me. Go on. Do it. Get revenge for what I just did.”

A small grin played across Kaine's face, as he glared down at her.

*She let the pain wash over her like a wave, then exhaled it all out in one long breath. If only she could get him to remember....

Wait. Maybe she could. Slowly straightening, she looked deep into Kaine's eyes, probing his mind and trying to reach the young man she knew was there.*

"Ready?"
"Yup."
The two youngsters, armed with an arsenal of food, crept down the hallway. Fifteen-year-old Kaine, colored hair swept in bright locks across his head, and eleven-year-old Damel, a few paces behind him, arms full of whipped cream cans.
"Feh. It's locked!"

A few minutes later, the teenage boy slipped the safety pin back inside his pocket. "Someone's got to get a better security system..."
They crept inside, grinning quietly. No giggling- giggling would give it away. Besides, giggling was silly... at least, well, that's what they thought. Laughing, chuckling, yes. Giggling, well...
Standing on a chair, Damel balanced a bucket of popcorn above the door while Kaine got out the chocolate syrup, ending up with more syrup on his face than in the sink. Raising his eyebrows, he shot a mischievous grin towards the girl, face covered in sticky chocolate.
"Oh, why you..."
PSSSHHHHHHHHTTTTTTT!
She grinned back at him, now covered in whipped cream in addition to chocolate syrup.
"Hey, hey!"

Food shot back and forth across the room, covering the floor with a sticky mess. The two youngsters were nearly unrecognizable, covered with syrup and whipped cream, running back and forth across the room, laughing and knocking over furniture as they ran. Finally, the boy fell on top of Damel.
"Oof! Gedoffa me, you're heavy!"
"Oh... I am, am I?"
Laughing, she wrestled him off. Suddenly, the door slammed open. A bucket of popcorn rained down on a figure's head.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
The kids froze. "Um... hi, Ami..."
PSSSSSSHHHHHHTTTT!
A can of whipped cream had suddenly shot into Ami's hand. The two youngsters were now covered with an additonal spray of sweet white foam.
Kaine dove for her legs, and she fell into the sticky mess as well.
"You're cleaning this up later..."
"We know, we know!" They grinned. Later was later. Now was the only thing that mattered. Now was fun. And now...

*Slowly, not wanting to let go of that memory, Damel slipped out of his mind. Had it gotten through? Kaine hadn't moved during the entire time. He seemed to be lost in thought. Biting her lip, the girl waited in silence for a few moments, then spoke entreatingly.*

"Kaine..."

“Kaine...”

The memory played through his head several times over. He slowly lowered down one of his hands, his eyes having a distant look.

No. I will not turn back.. I will not..

He face scrunched up slightly, then snapped up, staring down at the younger Jedi. A soft smile came to his face, and Damel thought that she had got to him. His eyes suddenly closed, and he turned his head to the side.

“NO!!”

Kaine's lowered hand visciously lashed out at the younger Jedi girl, grabbing her firmly around the neck. His once soft grin had turned to a glare cold enough to freeze Damel's thoughts. Using his plain strength, he thrusted Damel up and off of the ground, bringing her to his height. He pulled Damel right up to his face, and began to speak.

“There is no way I will turn back, Damel, So dont even try IT!!”

With the last yell, he thrusted his hand back out, and let go of the Jedi. She went flying from his hands, and before long, crashed down into a tree, which snapped it in half. Kaine smiled lightly, as Damel lay in the wreckage of the tree. He slowly began to walk at Damel, and unclipped the hilt of his saber from his belt. He thumbed the blade to life, the familiar snap-hiss being let out. The silver blade bursted out from the hilt, growing to its full length, and he continued to walk where the Jedi lay.

*Scrabbling about for purchase among the wood splinters, her elbow found the remains of the trunk and Damel slowly got to her feet, wincing at the spasm that shot up her back. She forced her mind to ignore the pain. It wasn't too bad... she could always heal it later.

She watched Kaine approach, hoping fervently that he would stop. Stop...everything. This. But he didn't. The former Jedi kept on advancing towards her, saber lit. As he reached a distance of about a meter away from her, the girl's hand jumped to her belt and a golden blade sprang to life. Peering at him through the sudden brightness, which cast a glow on both their faces, she held her saber in front of her, feet unconsciously falling into a defensive position.

"You don't just give up on a friend," she whispered, more to herself than to Kaine. Then she was silent, watching Kaine intently, waiting for his reaction.*

He kept on advancing towards her, moving in such a slow speed. Everything around Kaine and Damel seemingly stopped, as he did, about 1 metre away from her. Damel's reflexes almost instantly sprang out her lightsaber, the golden blade coming forth. A small grin played across the Fallen Jedi's face.

“Now .. Damel .. This is where it ends ..”

In a flash of light, both sabers met, small golden and silver sparks bursting out and away from the two blades. Kaine's overwhelming strength slowly forced Damel to arch her back, her golden blade advancing on her face. A small yell escaped his throat, as he lashed out with his strength, knocking the younger Jedi to the ground.

Kaines muscular body loomed over the Jedi, shadowing her from the rays of the sun. His red eyes seemed to almost glow, and the hate in his eyes sent a small shiver up and through Damel. The silver blade slowly rose up into the sky, and before long, began it's fast decent, aiming for the Jedi's body.

ooc: Sorry 'bout that, Kaine. I might be kinda slow this weekend because of a math meet.
ic:

*Her eyes flickered wide for a moment, the silver blade reflecting in them, then she dived and rolled to the left, leaves crackling underneath her shoulder. She heard the Fallen Jedi's angry yell as his saber plunged into the ground where she had been an instant before, then rocked back and flipped onto her feet, right hand still clutching her saber hilt, which she had thumbed off as she fell.

Kaine may have been much stronger, but the younger girl had a slight advantage in speed and agility. As he swung his saber out of the ground with a massive sweep, she ducked behind him, leaping inches ahead of the silver blade. Lashing out with her left foot from behind, she connected with his kneecap with a loud CrrrRrAAck. She didn't want to hurt him, so she left her saber thumbed off. As Kaine jerked away in pain, she brought her right elbow down over his neck in an attempted chokehold. The hilt of Damel's unignited saber jammed hard into Kaine's left shoulder. If it was on, it would have gone straight through. The girl struggled to maintain her position, knowing she wouldn't be able to keep it for long against the larger teen.*

OOC: No prob, Damel. ^_^

IC:

He flinched slightly in pain, as the saber hilt rammed down upon his left shoulder. Grabbing onto his left arm, he pulled it visciously, and a small crack was heard, accompanied by a soft yell. He smiled slightly, and used whatever pain and anger inside of him to help him battle. Kaine suddenly spun around, his right leg coming in a full arc. A small grin came across his face, as his boot connected hard with the side of Damel's face, sending her tumbling side ways.

Before long, the younger Jedi was back up on her feet, yet the right side of her face was extremely red. He grinned slightly at the younger Jedi girl, then leapt at her. Once he got close enough, he brought his saber over his head. He struck down upon Damel's saber, using enough force to nearly knock it out of her hand. Using this to his advantage, Kaine suddenly thrusted his saber forward, aiming for Damel's left shoulder.

OOC: Btw, this is me, Kaine..

ooc: Yep, I kinda figured that. :)

*Damel regained her firm grip on her saber just as Kaine's strike came hurtling towards her shoulder. Diving backwards, while keeping her right hand with the saber in it up, Damel threw her left hand behind her, absorbing most of the impact with her elbow as his strike shot directly above her, humming dangerously near her face. It skimmed the reddened part and left an angry burn there, but she didn't flinch. Ignore it.. it's not important. Not now.

Turning the force of her dive around, the girl sprang off her left palm, both feet heading into a kick aimed directly at Kaine's unprotected gut.*

Kaine's danger senses kicked in. His whole body twisted to the side, with Damel's feet just skimming his shirt. From the twist, Kaine's saber had come across Damel's face, leaving a shallow cut from one cheek, to the other. He smiled lightly, then jumped back several metres. Spinning his saber around skillfully infront of him, he started to walk at Damel again, being ready for anything.

*As Kaine's saber had slashed across her cheek, it had also cauterized the slight wound, so it wasn't bleeding. Running towards Kaine, the girl accelerated so quickly it seemed like she was going to ram into him for a second, but at the last minute she planted her right foot firmly into the ground, using the Force to help her spring up in a flip over Kaine's head, twisting in midair so her saber came down in a hard vertical slash towards his shoulder.

Kaine really didn't expect Damel to jump like that, and as she was coming over, he started to duck down. But it was too late. Damel's saber diced through his shirt, and cut into his skin. The blade cauterized the shallow cut, so he didn't have to worry about any blood.

“Argh.. I'll get you for that..”

Using the anger and pain to fuel him, Kaine spun around with incredible speed. He visciously lashed out with his right leg, aiming for her left shoulder.

*The sudden impact sent a CRrrrAAck! shooting through her left shoulder, along with a sharp jolt that rang along her arm, making her fingers scream. Despite herself, the girl let out a yell. The kick had half-spun her around, and she switched her saber to her left hand, clenching it tightly, knuckles whitening in an effort to block out the pain. Her right hand clutching her dislocated shoulder, she moved her feet back into a defensive stance, watching Kaine through the throbbing haze that was her left arm. With a sudden jerk, she yanked her arm painfully back into its socket, switching her saber back to a two-handed grasp. Her left shoulder still spasmed with fire, but it wasn't as bad as before. Bringing her saber up into a defensive stance, she readied herself for Kaine's next blow.*

“Oh, Damel. Why dont you just give up? It hurts to see you in so much pain.”

Kaine laughed mockingly at the younger Jedi. He could tell that Damel wouldn't be able to take much more, and the pain that she expressed pleasured him. The Fallen Jedi hastily closed the gap between the two warriors in a few steps, and once he was close enough, lashed out with his silver blade. The two teens struck and blocked eachs other hit, until Kaine found an openning. He drove his knee up into the Jedi's stomach, making her double over in pain. Shortly after, he thrusted his elbow into the small of her back, knocking her face down into the ground. Her body hit with a loud "thud", with dirt arising around her.

Kaine smiled lightly, then visciously kicked multiple times at her side, urging her to get up.

“Get up, Weak JEDI!”

"At least it still hurts you to see something in pain...."

*The girl groaned as she rose to her feet. She knew Kaine was being sarcastic, and that stung even more than the gash across her face. Staggering upright, she rose to her feet, facing him once more. She felt as if her energy had suddenly run out. Musta been running on pure adrenaline back there... Arms trembling, she raised her saber yet again. She would stand firm, no matter what it cost....*

"I'm not backing down, Kaine."

Kaine Darklighter
Apr 29th, 2001, 01:03:20 AM
“Oh, but you will Damel, you will..”

With that, He lashed out with his saber, almost easily knocking Damel's out of the way. The Jedi was so weak now, and it was time to finish her off. With a small force pushing, he knocked Damel's hand to the side, leaving her defenseless. Driving his boot into her stomach, she doubled over in pain again. He spun around her body, and pushed her down to the ground, having her back turned to him.

“Now it's time..”

Kaine simply grinned. He had recently learned, while training with his old master, Warren, that he could use the force to create fireballs. Warren used to slow down the air molecules to create his Force Shards attack, so, if you made the molecules go faster, you could create a fireball. A small, yet strong growl let forth from his throat, as Kaine concentrated deeply on the force. Damel stayed on the ground, grumbling in pain.

The air molecules infront of Kaine started to speed up, and from Damel's view, if she was watching, Kaines face started to blur a bit. The dirt near the Jedi's feet slowly started to raise up around him, as the air infront of him continued to heat up. He slowly raised up both hands, putting them infront, but to the side of his head. Suddenly, two force blasts escaped his hands. The air molecules picked up the pace intensly, and shortly after, a large crack-boom was heard, and the air infront of him exploding into flames.

Kaines blue hair had risen into the air, continously blowing in the wind that was put out by the fireball. His shirt and pants were blowing aswell, just like his hair. He simply smiled.

“Now go ..”

The fireball suddenly bursted out, and away from his body. The large ball of flames melted anything in it's way, as it continued it's path at the Jedi. Even if the Jedi tried to move, the ball looked as if it would land where she was, and when it landed, it would explode, so atleast she would atleast gain some burns.

“The end..”

ooc: Sorry 'bout that, Kaine. Today was a pretty crazy day, and then internet cut off... but in any case, here we go, nice and long.... ;)
ic:

As Kaine was gathering up the fireball, the youngster was preparing an attack of her own from her position on the ground. She closed her eyes for a moment, consciousness gazing past her tired body into the leaves and branches- branches with thorns... they trembled, quivered, and rose on edge, poised to come slashing down at Kaine through the air like a thousand razor-sharp blades. The Fallen Jedi was so intent on creating his fireball, he didn't notice what the girl was doing. She, on the other hand, had put so much energy into her attempt that Kaine was only a vague blur on the edge of her consciousness. Both combatants, for a moment, had forgotten the cardinal rule of a fight: Never take your eyes off your opponent. Neither knew how much it would cost.

"Now it's time..."

The youth started to rise slowly to her feet, to hurl the leaves and sticks and thorns at Kaine, to shoot back a retort at the teen...

"Time for...."

She never got to finish the sentence. As her attack ripped loose from the branches, a sudden brilliance lit the corners of her vision. A fireball.

Time seemed to hover in the air during that one split-second, yet it pressed mercilessly on. No time to react, no time to think- a flurry of thoughts flung themselves at the girl's mind.

Oh my god, it's going to hit...

KAhhHrxschKkkooOM.

A massive, crackling explosion slammed into the girl's lower back, singing shirt into skin as it flung her several meters back. Her body spun in midair from the force of the blast, slamming her shoulder into the trunk of a tree. A silent yell of anguish twisted itself from Damel's mouth as blistering skin hit the rough wood.

Kaine, having finally recovered somewhat from the attack of leaves and branches, stood silently by, sneering.

The initial wave of pain pounded through the charred remains of the trunk, and the girl remained slumped against it, gasping for air, as if the coolness that rushed into her lungs with every painful breath could soothe the raw burns that covered her back and arms. Something caught in her throat, and she coughed out blood. At least my legs don't hurt...

Her vision cleared enough so that she could look down at them. Oh, man... Both legs were also blistered and burned, although not as badly as her back. One had a long swath of blood across it that corresponded to a sharp stone on the ground, now reddened and digging- well, it should be painful.. into her calf. The other was bent at an odd angle. It's broken. Why doesn't it hurt? Why can't I feel...

The girl pushed her arms against the tree trunk and heaved upwards to stand. Feet felt like lead weights. Her elbows buckled, and Damel slammed back down into the trunk, a slight groan issuing from her lips as the bark dug into her back again. She saw Kaine coming, but a wave of darkness pressed onto her brain. Purple and silver spots swam in front of her eyes, melting into the glow of his saber, which seemed to swim back and forth, back and forth...

Breathing hard against the wind with pained, raspy breaths, the youth closed her eyes and laid back against the charred wood, fighting off sleep. The darkness seemed so peaceful... but she was too tired to care.*

OOC: It's okay. And thanks for the long post. :p

IC:

Kaine laughed slightly, an almost demonic sound escaping his throat. He hadn't actually knew the full power of his fireball trick until now.. and he found it incredible. The force of the fireball .. what it did to Damel .. It was amazing. Looking down at the Jedi slumped up against the tree, Kaine mostly looked at the wounds.

And here I was thinking my fireball was weak.. Ha!

All the cuts and deep gashes over Damels arms and legs, the blisters making the pain just that much worse. Kaine tried to imagine what the girls back looked like, and a small grin came to his face. Lashing out with his right foot, it connected with the side of Damel's face. Damel's body slammed into the ground beside her, accompanied with a loud "thud" and a cloud of dirt. Rolling her onto her stomach, Kaine looked down at the wounds on her back.

“You should never have tried Damel, you should never have tried..”

Kaine laughed mockingly, although he knew she probably couldn't hear him. The pain had probably taken over her body, sending her into a unconcious state.

“You know, I'm feeling generous. I'm going to take you with me.”

Thrusting his hand down at her, he latched onto the back of her neck, and started to head back for his X-wing.

Moments later..

He threw Damel into a small comparment just behind the seat, then planted himself on the seat. Starting up the X-Wing, he pulled back the stick, and lifted up and off the planet of Talus. Once he got out into space, he set the coordinates for TSE, then blasted off into hyperspace.
