(Clive sped on his speeder, cruising the lanes, untill he stopped at the apartment building indicated by the address on the data pad. He stepped out of his speeder, grabbed the package, and walked up to the comm unit next to the front door. He looked around and then rechecked the address. He muttered to himself.)

No, this is the address alright. Apartment 34C, Subsection 774, 34558 837th Sector.

(He looked again and shrugged, punching in the number to rouse the occupents of apartment 34C. An incessant beeping was heard from the comm unit's speaker as it waited for someone to respond.)

(Sanis rolled out of bed, banging his head on the small table nearby)

Ow! Ah frell....I'm coming!!!

(Sanis reached up, gingerly rubbing the back of his head, and shuffled lazily to the door. He yawned loudly and ran his fingers through his unkept bed-hair before he opened up the front door, his left hand holding a blaster behind his back in case the visitor was unwelcome.)

Uh...yeah?

(Clive looked at the man, and shifted the package in his arms, sneaking a peak at his chrono. It wasn't even 2100 hours standard Coruscant time. He also noticed with some interest the man was hiding half of himself with the door. Clive seriously doubted it had anything to do with modesty. Nah, the guy probably had a weapon. Well, Clive would have one too in this kind of neighborhood. He raised the eyebrow over his good eye.)

Umm... Sanis Prent, I presume?

(Sanis squinted, blinking the sleep out of his eyes)

Yeah, that's the rumor.

OOC: Dude! That is FUNNY! Your pic just changed to the one of Pitt with "All Your Base Are Belong To Us", or whatever! LOL!!

IC:

(Clive cleared his throat.)

Well, Mr. Prent, it appears someone likes you quite a bit because they bought you something rather pricey, basically threatened me if I didn't deliver it within 12 hours, and had me wrap it all up nicely for you. Like so.

(He gestured towards the package.)

But, before I hand this over, I'll still need to see some ID. So if yo--

(Suddenly there was a shriek from the other side of the hallway, and Clive whirled, pulling out his hidden blaster. Some couple down the hallway, it appeared, was having a bit of a scuffle. Clive ducked as a vase came sailing his way, crashing into the opposite wall, sending shards of plaster everywhere. He looked at the couple, slightly stunned and saw the man look his way. A rather large man he'd never seen before. A drunk man, from appearances. A man that was now looking at the blaster in his hand and frowning. Clive blinked as the man ran inside and came out shooting wildly with his own blaster. The woman was now screaming.)

KRASST!

(Clive, with the package still tucked tightly under his arm, dove past Sanis into the apartment and shut the door. Stepping away from the door, he turned to look at Sanis, giving him a lopsided grin.)

Hi. I'm Clive Jerrard, weapons dealer. Nice to meet you. This door does have a blast shielding center, right?

(He could here the drunk man's stagger pounding closer.)

Right????

Sanis Prent

(Sanis laughed slightly.)

Well, nice to meet you Clive, but do you think they'd blast shield little rathole apartments in the armpit of Coruscant? I'd have to double my rent payment for crap like that.

(Sanis listened to the footsteps, hearing the loudness and rhythm. He raised his right hand, and began to count off a cadence with his fingers...one...two...three!

Sanis jerked the door open and placed the muzzle of his blaster against the belligerent man's forehead. The drunkard's mouth opened in suprise. Sanis just sat there for a few seconds, looking at the man)

Okay...lemme have the blaster.

(The inebriated man reluctantly handed Sanis his gun)

Alright, next time you think about doing this, realize that its late, and some people are trying to sleep. Or maybe just take it outside. If I lose my security deposit because some nerf herder blows holes in my door...well, that would make me upset. And I'm already a little pissed that I've been woke up...so it would just add onto a bad day.

(The man seemed to nod slightly)

Okay...go sleep it off, and stop smacking the woman around. By the looks of it, you're not the kind of guy that finds ladies that are that attractive. Don't be a prick, or you'll end up sleeping alone. Catch my drift?

(The man nodded again, and Sanis gently pressed him back with the muzzle of the blaster)

Alright...good. Now get some frelling sleep. If I get woke up again by this...I'm gonna have to shoot you.

(Sanis smiled and waved as he closed the door. He threw the man's blaster onto the couch, as he stretched...still rather tired. He looked at Clive.)

A present from somebody? Hmm...seems like I'm just Mr. Popular these days.

(Sanis reached for his wallet on the coffee table, and plucked a small holocard out, handing it to Clive so he could authenticate his ID.)

(Clive chuckled slightly and took the ID. He set the package down on a small table near the door and was just about to take out his data pad to slide the ID through when his mini comm beeped. He muttered something under his breath and looked at Sanis.)

So sorry. This'll only take a moment.

(Reaching into his pocket, he fetched the comm link and thumbed it on. Turning towards the wall, he spoke into it, slightly annoyed.)

What?

(The voice on the other end was the reptilian rasp of Raunkks.)

Raunkks: Sorry to interupt you, CJ, but I wanted to inform you of the arrived shipment. Downloading to your comm link now.

(A small light began to blink on the side of the comm link as the download was received. Clive frowned. They weren't expecting any new shipments. Not until tomorrow. No, Raunkks was up to something else. But he had to play the part, so, with an annoyed voice, he spoke again into the comm link.)

Couldn't you have waited till I'd gotten back?

(Raunkks made a hissing gargle, his equivelant of an amused chuckle.)

Raunkks: I think you'll find this more interesting now than later. Some of these pieces are quite nice to behold. Raunkks out.

(Clive muttered something else under his breath and looked at the blinking light on the side of the comlink. Raunkks wouldn't have interupted him in a delivery unless it had been important somehow. Curious, he hooked his data pad to the comm link and read what was there. He read it and then blinked. He blinked several times more as he read each line again carefully. Now this was interesting. Apparently, Raunkks had finished his task early and had started some of the background checks Clive had wanted to do himself. In his searching, he'd found a connection between Sanis Prent and non-other than the one threatening his business, Sasseeri Reeouurra. Hmmmmm... perhaps Sanis could be of more use than just another recipient to a delivery.)

(Quickly deleting the information that had just been downloaded to the data pad, he called up the notice Sasseeri had left him, which he'd copied to his data pad. Scrolling down to the end of the message, he made sure her name was quite visible on the data pad, plus a bit of the end of the message:

It is the sworn duty of the Sector Rangers to uphold peace and safety in the Galaxy, and all races stand under our protection.

Therefore we would like to ask you to cease your illegal operations from this day forward. Legal actions will be taken against you if you shall not comply with this.

However, should you be willing to obtain the necessary permit to run a business as large as your own (ALL stock included), please contact the nearest Sector Rangers HQ Administrator in your area, and we shall be more than glad to offer you our services.

Sincerely,
Sasseeri Reeouurra
SR Administrator

End message

With that done, he turned around to look at Sanis and smiled.)

Sorry for the delay. My partner thought it best to let me know of a shipment of antiques just received. Of course, I'm going to have to box his scales for interupting me. But, no harm done.

(With that he slid the ID through the data pad port and handed it back to Sanis at the same time he tried to reach for the rifle in the same hand holding the data pad. With a rehearsed fumble and more times done than could be counted clumsy move, Clive grabbed the package, saving it from the inevitable fall, but the data pad didn't fair so well, and landed right in front of Sanis. There it sat, on the floor, right side for Sanis to read it clearly, it's letters nice and bright.)

(Clive blushed slightly at his "accidental" clumsiness.)

I'm so sorry about that. Well, at least I saved the package.

(He smiled and began to reach for the data pad, but Sanis got to it first, picking it up and momentarily looking at it. There was no garauntee that he'd ask about it, but Clive was taking a big bet he'd be curious to know why Sasseeri had sent him a message, not to mention the content of the message visible.)

(Sanis picked up the pad, casually glancing at it as he prepared to hand it back to Clive. However, he noticed a name that made him stop slightly.

Sasseeri Reeouurra.

Sanis began to read a few lines, noting that the message seemed to be an intimidation letter, sent by Sasseeri to this guy. Sanis winced slightly as he handed it back to Clive. He didn't envy the guy. Noboby wanted to be on Miss Reeouurra's bad side.)

Sounds like a little tough luck.

Clive Jerrard
Mar 13th, 2001, 05:52:40 AM
(Clive put his hand out and took the data pad. He shrugged slightly.)

Heh. Yeah, well, tough luck doesn't begin to cover it. I've met Miss Reeouurra before.

(Shudders remembering.)

Almost got pulled into two pieces between her and some other chick named JadesFire4. But, Miss Reeouurra backed down when JadesFire4 pulled out a lightsaber. Wasn't the best experience of my life.

(Clive slips his blaster and data pad back into his jacket. He was going to give Sanis some of the information about his little problem. It really didn't need to be kept secret. It was just a way to keep Sanis talking and see if he gave him any clues about Sasseeri.)

Now, Miss Reeouurra has taken an interest in my business. Though it's not quite the interest I'd expected. And, frankly, I don't really know what to do.

(He sighed, handing Sanis the package.)

I'll go see her about it, but I haven't the foggiest clue in the Core Worlds what will come of the meeting. It'll either end up with me still alive and with a healthy business, or me in a two and a half meter box with my business up for sale.

(He winced.)

I'd prefer the former outcome.

Sanis Prent
Mar 13th, 2001, 06:02:11 AM
(Sanis shrugged slightly as he took the package)

Well, you got me on that one. Sasseeri's got her claws in a lot of pies around here, and back in the Arkanis sector, from what I've heard. I don't know much about her, except she's a pretty hard-nosed businesswoman, and doesn't like to lose. Hope you can make it out of this one okay, cause I know she can come on....rather strong.

Clive Jerrard
Mar 13th, 2001, 06:35:30 AM
(Clive chuckled. Yeah, he knew about Sasseeri coming on strong from that encounter with himself and the two ladies. He leaned against the wall.)

I think I should be fine. I've dealt with this type before, though my gut tells me this may be a bit different in some regards.

(He shrugged.)

Guess I could go with the business-gentleman approach.

(He gestured with his head towards the package.)

Speaking of Miss Reeouurra, as far as I can tell, that package is from her. Some guy came to my shop giving me that message you just saw and then telling me to wrap that up. I assume it's one of her henchmen because he gave me the message from her, and he wasn't too kind about the way he threatened me on delivering this package. They must be a bunch of nice people.

Mar 13th, 2001, 04:15:54 PM
(Sanis looked at the package. Well, it didn't look like a bomb, and besides...he had a sneaking suspicion that whatever Sasseeri had in store for him, it required him being alive. Hmm, at any rate, he'd open it later. Sanis carefully put the box on the couch, and turned around.)

Oh yes, you'll learn to love em.

Clive Jerrard
Mar 14th, 2001, 06:27:03 AM
(Clive nodded.)

So, you've dealt with them before?

Sanis Prent
Mar 14th, 2001, 06:42:23 AM
(Sanis shrugged slightly)

Yeah, more or less. Not much to tell, I suppose. A little heavy-handed, but they've all got the same agenda. Not to mention, they pay well when they need your services. I dunno...I've seen worse business relationships before.

Clive Jerrard
Mar 14th, 2001, 06:50:02 AM
(Clive thought about this for a moment.)

So, since you've had business dealings with these Sector Rangers before, maybe you could give me some advice on how to go about this little mess I'm in?

(He patted the side of his jacket where the data pad resided.)

Sanis Prent
Mar 14th, 2001, 06:56:28 AM
(Sanis thought about that. He hadn't really dealt with the Rangers long enough to offer any advice. He was still testing the waters himself. One thing he did know was...it wasn't the best of ideas for small fish such as himself or Clive to try and stir things up with them. The Rangers were just too powerful for anything like that.)

Well, I have no clue, I'm afraid. Maybe lay low and come back around low-profile style?

Clive Jerrard
Mar 15th, 2001, 04:31:20 AM
(Clive thought about that. He shook his head. He wasn't about to close his shop even for awhile. Well, he could. He still had his business on Nar Shadda, and it was booming nicely. But he really didn't feel like giving up what he'd started here. So many potential buyers.)

I suppose I could go for the low-profile approach, but it'd be a shame to close down my shop for that.

(He shrugged.)

Maybe I'll just go see Miss Reeouurra and see if I can't straighten this little situation out. Shouldn't be too bad.

(He muttered under his breath.)

Even though , somehow, I get the feeling I'd be walking straight into the lion's den.

(He came out of his thoughts and looked at Sanis, smiling.)

Well, Sanis, it's been a pleasure meeting you.

(He extended his hand, grasping Sanis's in a firm grip.)

Perhaps we'll see each other again soon.

(He began to open the door.)

Oh, and enjoy your gift.

(He gestured towards the package with his hand, and then walked out of Sanis's apartment.)

(Looking down the hallway to make sure drunk-man was not there, he made his way down to his parked speeder and back home to his apartment above his shop. Tomorrow he had some work to accomplish.)

NOTE: The package contains a Xerrol Nightstinger sniper rifle. Black barrel and scoop, and mahogany handle. All with a smooth finish. Expensive.

Sanis Prent
Mar 20th, 2001, 05:50:53 PM
(Sanis watched the man leave. Even though he couldn't do much to help, he could definitely empathize with his situation. Shrugging as the door closed, Sanis began to open the package. His eyes widened at what he saw as he did so.)

Holy Krasst!

(A Xerrol Nightstinger sniper rifle. Probably one of the best-built sniper weapons ever constructed. Sanis was almost afraid to breathe on the gun...these suckers were extremely expensive. Didn't Clive say that it was from Sasseeri?

Sanis simply sat for a moment, in awe of the weapon he held. Sasseeri was definitely out there, looking out for him. Whether that was good or bad, Sanis didn't really know.)
