An ancient figure loomed over the planet Kara, the furthest mapped planet by the Guild. The creature laid in wait, its black, blistering hull absorbing the light around it, giving off no visual signs of being there other than a patch of black in the vastness of the infinity known as space. A miniature explosion near the vessel shudders it for a second as a large craft comes through a micro-tear in the fabric of space, an unusual black array of spikes emitting from various locations along a rigid spine going down the animal like ship’s hull.
The vessel sits, stunned for a moment, as the larger, more animal like vessel fires a burst of purple at it, colliding with the aged sides of the other craft and rendering molten scars along its hull. As the crew aboard the Dreadnaught Iron Fist struggle to acquire target locks on the craft, it begins to move away from the fight; powerful wings along its sides moving and sending it hurtling away.
The command goes through to fire blindly and the Dreadnaught’s twenty Turbolasers fire red bolts that lash out at the monster like a saber at a dragon’s neck, hitting the rear spine-like area of the craft, sending shudders up and down it as plates of pure black metal fly off and evaporate, only to reveal that the plates had been purposely removed to expose rear cannons that belched out projectiles at the now shielded Guild craft.
As the projectiles approach the Dreadnaught red blasts from the crafts fifteen laser cannons collide with a percentage of them, causing them to prematurely erupt, filling space with a white glow and massive heat, that of a star going super nova. Layers of armor melt off of the Dreadnaught as still more of the missiles collide with the heavy shields, sapping every ounce of energy allotted to them.
The commander of the ship gives orders to prepare to hyperspace out, firing a last salvo that strikes the craft in the wings, tearing three off of the massive creature. As the last words leave the commander’s mouth, the creature they had been pursuing fires off one more barrage of purple energy, then vanishes in a flash of crimson. The shots fired by it collide with the Iron Fist, knocking out its Hyperdrive and taking out two of its engines.
The commander looks to the view port, studying the stars, hands trembling. He turns to the comm. officer who relays a message, Unknown hostile life form encountered at sector UES1013, video feed included, request new orders, ship in manageable condition, repairs will be done in five days, have enough supplies and parts to manage, hyperdrives inoperable. The crew begins the tedious task of repairing the ship.
The Dreadnaught releases one last message before setting its systems to conserve energy, a general message to all ships in the system and nearby systems, Emergency aid required, locations imbedded in message. Warning to all ships traveling in sectors UES, unidentified hostile craft have been encountered.
