View Full Version : Neat things you can do with HTML

A while ago I learned a few things you can do with HTML. Most of you probebly already know all of this, but for you newbies here are a few things you can do. This'll help you when posting and when doing you signatures. <FONT SIZE="+1>you can change the size of you text, if you want you post to be noticed.</FONT> All you have to do ist type font size="+ or -x, in "<>" (standard HTML brackets), where x it the HTML font size. followed by the standered end font which is /font in the standard HTML brackets.

Here's a few more (note that you must replace all '[ ]' with HTML tags '< >'): 1. Change writing color text eg. <FONT COLOR=RED>text</FONT> 2. Change font to bold or italics: Bold: text Italics: text eg. Bold: text Italics: text 3. Have text scroll across page (only available for IE users): text eg. <MARQUEE>text (scrolls only in IE)</MARQUEE> 4. Have text blink (only available for Netscape users): text eg. <BLINK>text (blinks only in Netscape)</BLINK> Then there's the option to create a signature like mine, but it's fairly lengthy. I might include it later if anyone wants to know. :)

In Thall's #2 he forgot something how to underline text so this is how you do that. text eg text is underlined and in order to make the color of the text change, (#1) you must put the color in quatation marks eg [font color="color"]

I've never used quote marks to change the text colour. If you don't mind James, I'd like to move this to the Misc. forum, since there's no fear of it being lost there.

I don't mind, but I'd Like you to teach us how to make sigs like yours.

Just to add my two cents' worth... I've found a wonderful website that explains a lot about HTML, from beginning stuff through more advanced stuff. Plus, it has a bunch of color codes! http://www.htmlgoodies.com/beyond/js.html (http://www.htmlgoodies.com/beyond/js.html) Hope this helps... enjoy!

I can teach you how to create sigs like Thrall's. I learned it while creating a web site. It is lenghthy,(sp?) but here it is. replace all the "[]" with "<>" (this might not be necessary)[td width=x height=y]text x=what width you want. its measured in pixels. y=height you want. measured in pixels look at my sig for an example

Here's a copy of what I have in my signature, just remember to use HTML tags '< >' instead of '[ ]': [/FONT]
[TABLE BORDER=3 BGCOLOR=#000000] [TD] [CENTER] "A Jedi must remain focused. Mastery of the Force requires that all unneccessary activities be purged from daily life."[BR] Jedi Master Thall [BR] Member of the Jedi High Council [BR] Chief Scribe for the Greater Jedi Order [BR] Commander of the Ravenwing [BR] Master to Jedi Padawan Kai Solus [BR] Wielder of the ancient lightsaber Varscona [BR] [img src=http://movies.acmecity.com/suspense/343/kunlightsaber.gif?nocache=942729374] (src=http://movies.acmecity.com/suspense/343/kunlightsaber.gif?nocache=942729374])

I think Eminy's way is much easier.

If you point at one of my pics, after awhile what happens. You should get a massage in a little help box that reads either An Equalizer or James' saber. Does anyone want to know how I did that?

<Marquee>Me try Me try</marquee> <img src=http://www.monmouth.com/~leelee/48s.gif alt="WowThat'sCool!!!"> great, Thanks Thall and Thanks James!! Are you able to do it with a hypertext link too or just with images? I tried, but I may have missed a detail.

<marquee>I don't know, but I'll see. http://www.ezboard.com (http://www.ezboard.com) </marquee> It works! sort of, you have to have it scroll with other text.

Jedi James1
Dec 6th, 1999, 11:36:09 PM
Posted about the wrong thing, no you cannot attach that type of message with a hyperlink, as far as I know, but you can to this EZ-Board (http://ezboard.com), but then again you probably already knew that

hmm, How depressing- I'm in netscape communicator and the "alt" boxes don't come up- Sunday, when I read your post and placed mine, I was in internet explorer. does the "alt" only work for ie users? Thanks again for your help!

So what did I do wrong? I am trying to make a fancy table with boarders, but it did not work. I was able to change the <FONT SIZE=6>font size</FONT> and <FONT COLOR=A52AZA>font color</FONT> of my <MARQUEE>scrolling marquee</MARQUEE> But what happend to the table?

KvanB
Dec 8th, 1999, 01:41:06 AM
Trying again... Still no table. But I think I have the <FONT COLOR=7FFF00>COLOR</FONT> & <FONT SIZE=4>SIZE</FONT> thing figured out.

In order to help you I'll need a copy of the exact HTML you used in trying to creat you sig. I'll need all of it.

yeah, I do know how you did that James... Little John told me... I'll post it later... can't get to it just yet... :) I'm checking to see if my fancey new sig. will work:) I used Thails... good old "copy & Paste" thingy, just changed some things... gonna change the pic though... posibly to a Dragon... M/B a Namik... Piccolo... or what not... m/b a pokemon...(Rapidash, Growlithe, Arcanine, or Ponyta!!)

<font color="magenta">Haven't seen you in awhile, ofcourse I havn't been here in awhile either. BTW is that Growlithe or Arcanine in you sig, looks like Growlithe. I've got a cool pikachu animated pic in my sig. Poor Pikachu :( Read it and I well see, its an Arcanine, but I still say it look like a Growlithe, a wierd one at that. I'm not trying to be mean, but I don't think there is such thing as a baby Arcanine, dosen't a Growlithe evolve into an adult Arcanine.</font>

Spadix From HPC
Dec 15th, 1999, 02:07:49 PM
well, it's an Arcanine(I know it looks screwed :D but It's the only one I could find small enough) Baby Arcanine(not mine, my frineds) was evolved by using a Moon Stone, scince their where no more Fire Stones(this is for a sim:) instead of getting bigger, he got smaller, hence the Baby Arcaine :D mines the Bro, of hers that I found(in the sim, but I use him outside of the sim). <MARQUEE>that explain some things??(*g* just testing some HTML :D)</MARQUEE> I like your pic of Picachu :D

Yeah I change my sig quite offten actually, infact, I changed it again, added to lines in copper. Over at cc.net, I have a 40+ thread, and all they we're talking about was those two lines. We need to try and catch eachother batter, it took me 4 days to reply to that last post.

And I stick my togue out at YOU :p :p Well, I think Pokemon came first, in the U.S., of course for all I know you were talking about the U.S., but I know one thing for sure Pokemon came first on network television in the United States. I was goinna post this earlier, but I got kicked off. :( :( P.S. there's something you should know, about my e-mail, I never check it. I got so swamped with unwanted massages, that I just said forget it, and stopped checking my e-mail, so this is acually faster

*grins* In Japan, where all the best shows come from, Digimon was an animated cartoon b/4 pokemon, Pokemon came to the US & Canada(where I am) b/4 Digimon, but Digimon was STILL created first. THATS why I've never gotten a reply!! dude!! oh well!! ;D

Jedi James1
Jan 29th, 2000, 03:38:55 PM
I did read you e-mail, but that was after I posted my reply here, so I dicided, I wouldn't reply to the e-mail. All though it was kinda a roundabout way of putting it, the point of that reply, was to tell you I didn't know Digimon came first, but I still think Pokemon is much better, then Digimon, although a fear, with all the Digimon merchendise(sp?) comming out, that it will one day replace Pokemon, but I won't have to worry about that for awile. :) :) Jedi James

Jedi James1

I didn't lose Pikachu I just didn't use my sig in that post.
Newsflash: I have watched Digimon too much, and I've begun to like it. I'm wierd if I watch something long enough I'll begin to like it, no matter how bad I think it is.
If you want me to get rid of Pikachu you'll have to find me a good picture of that little cat like Digimon that Carry(sp?) has. Don't remember her name I've only seen a few of the newer episodes.

How do you make a URL active in your sig? (I want to make the link to my site active.)

Atreyu

Like this Jedieb:

<A HREF=(URL)>(Whatever you want to call it)</A>

For instance, a link to SwFans.Net could be:

<A HREF=http://www.swfans.net>SwFans.Net</A>
