I went with Transformers. If the question had been what was my FAVORITE action figure line then I would have gone with the vintage and POTF lines. But those old Transformers were just so damn cool. And Joe would would be a close second. They had such a variety of figures, vehicles, and playsets.

Good man Jedieb! Transformers all the way!

Transformers is easily my 2nd favorite, still have some sitting at home displayed prominently(Jetfire, Ultra Magnus, Thrust, Skids, Mirage)...definetly cool toys.

But the sheer size of the G.I.Joe franchise is just too much to resist. You figure there are roughly 600 unique figures out there(yes some are repaints, but all are different). Thats from 1982-1994, a lot of the main characters were redone multiple times but almost always with a whole new body(Cobra Commander with Mask, with Hood, in Battle Armor, etc).

The accessories they came with rocked, from pistols and knives to wild boars and parrots..that rocks! One guy even comes with a Crocodile and leash!

Then the vehicles and playsets.......talk about vast...the only thing that comes close is Star Wars and I think they still lose this one. Anywhere from a Cobra Rifle Range up to the 7 1/2" Aircraft Carrier...they had everything! Stinger Jeeps, F-14 Tomcats, A-10 Warthogs(well almost), APC's and Tanks, Battle Fortresses, and a huge crawler that could be made into one hell of a Custom Sandcrawler(definetly has the look).

Yo Joe!!!!!!!!

Man, I can't believe the transformers are holding up this well so far! :rollin:

I'm honestly suprised POFT2 is on top....just comparing toylines side by side they just don't compare...oh well.

Well, this is a star wars board! :) I think some are a little biased!

Sep 12th, 2000, 12:01:44 PM
Yeah I know...but non biased..just looking at the figures themselves how can you honestly say the SW are better? I'm not saying some people can't think they're better I just personally don't see how, the G.I.Joes have so much more to them....and TF's are just flat out cool!

WooHoo! G.I. Joe is now a close second. I had SW figs and G.I. Joe, but my G.I. Joe stuff always seemed cooler. Although my love for SW runs far deeper, I think G.I. Joe deserves to win this.

Only advaantage to POTF2 is that the sculpts are nicer than Goe's, but that comes at the expense of articulation.

You have better sculpts but half of them can't stand that well. If you want great Sculpts look at the Spawn stuff, but those things are really crappy toys.

Flat out play value I think G.I.Joe blows any other line away, theres so much you can do with them.

Transformers are still the best!!!!!

One thing I noticed is that my Transformers have definitely withstood the test of time. Some of my Joes have not. :( The O-rings that hold the torso and legs together have become brittle and broken on more than a few of my Joe figs. And my Secret Wars figures? Most of them have turned to a blob of colored PVC. If I pick up my Daredevil, my hands turn red! Only Wolverine has survived! Go figure! :)

How fitting! :)

Well you figure those O rings are only rubber so they'll wear out eventually. They're easy to replace though, just open up the back of the Joe with a screwdriver and you can replace it. The O rings you can get at any hardware store, I don't recall the exact size but its easy if you bring a Joes ring with you

I have replaced the O ring on many of my Joes. I just find that my Transformers still look great! Maybe its because they didn't see too much "action". The best was when I would set up all my Joes and have my Scorponok come and destroy them all!

Which TF's do you have? My collection isn't that big, mainly just the ones I really like. I've got a number stored away in a box but the ones I've got out and on display are

Inferno(always one of my faves)
Skids
Mirage
Ultra Magnus
Jetfire
Omega Supreme
Thrust

Some of the coolest ones IMHO

I haven't got any of them left. I wish I did. The last ones I had were Kup and Blurr. Kup may still be around here somewhere, but I doubt it.

I have:

Scorponok
Sound Wave
Megatron
Star Scream
Sandstorm
HeadMasters Alligator(forgot the name)
Hot Rod

That's all I can think of, off the top of my head. I know I have a few others, though.

Megatron, Soundwave, Star Scream and Hot Rod are pretty cool ones, I've never seen a Scorpinok in person so I can't comment on that one.

Did anyone have Metroplex? He was AWESOME.

I think I've still got him sitting in my box, he wasn't one I liked all that much.

That must be a big box! :)

Scorponok was this big purple and green mess. He was in the Headmasters line. He went from a foot tall robot to a scopion to a city. I still want to get a Jetfire....sigh. Maybe one day soon! :)

Jetfire was one of the best transformers ever!
