Although we discuss film mainly here, and now and then we sidetrack to the wild things we find in life, its been a while since we've spoken of music.

Personally, music is one of the most important aspects of my understanding of film. Many times a good song in place of dialogue can get the idea across. That is why the soundtrack is so important. Films like the Graduate set to classic rock anthems (Simon and Garfunkle) are able to convey the emotions of a time period with simple rock harmonies.

Its is safe to say that Almost Famous has tried to do the same. Capture and era in rock by using the greatest rock legends to facilitate the telling of a story.

This list is focused on the greatest rock songs of all time.

I need to edit this list toincorporate some I forgot.

Reaperfett, you rule!! Finally someone else who likes Blur "Song 2"! (for all of you people out there who may have missed this one, it's the ubiquitous song first heard on the Starship Troopers soundtrack [maybe] with the catchy chorus of "whoo-hoo"'s...I'm sure you've all heard it). It's such a catchy song!

*warning: I'm oblivious to anything before 1989. as a result, nearly all these songs are 90's songs.

My list:

1. "Semi Charmed Life" Third Eye Blind
2. "Corduroy" Pearl Jam
3. "Song 2" Blur
4. "Basketcase" Green Day
5. "Free Fallin'" Tom Petty
6. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" Nirvana
7. "You're a God" Vertical Horizon
8. "Inside Out" Eve 6
9. "Dammit" Blink182
10. "Black Hole Sun" Soundgarden
11. "Nookie" Limp Bizkit
12. "Revolve" Nine Days
13. "Are You Ready?" Creed
14. "With Arms Wide Open" Creed
15. "Higher" Creed
16. "What If" Creed (I'm a big Creed fan)
17. "Back 2 Good" Matchbox 20
18. "1979" Smashing Pumpkins

I meant that they're great to listen to, but if you can't love them musically, you at least have to laugh at them, especially if you watch the videos! :)
