Yes, I went and saw it.

As a fan of the first film and the interesting folklore surrounding it (although fictional), I atended Blair Witch 2 with my cousin, the same person I saw the original with. I was not expecting much, actually I didn't know what to expect. In any case, I was not dissapointed. I thought it was an creepy new taletoadd to the mythos of the Blair Witch. The idea was interesting, and not a redundant version of the first. It was original and wa able to capture the role human element can play in folklore and legend. Many people may not take away the same ideas that I did, but I live in a town rich with witch folklore. Similar stories to Blair have been told in my town, so I like these types of tales.
This flm is not like the first in that it is entirely home video footage, but in the Blair Witch Project Tradition, the use of handheld cameras becomes a major player in how the story unfolds.

Over all a fun spooky movie. It was not incredible, and the ending was not what I had hoped it would be, but it still managed to get smirk out of me as well as a favorable rating.

Rating: 7.8

I had a great time watching BW2. I love a movie where you never know what to expect. Of course its not the best movie out there, but it was worth the 5 bucks.

Yes, the film(s) of the witch at Blair are fun. They are kind of cultish, and are scary mainly to those who saw it when it was dubbed real. But the best idea that is touched upon in the new film is the idea that perception is reality. This theory has been put to use quite often, most recently it has taken form in cult religions. But all legends and myths are based upon them. People chose to believe what they want, the more people who begin to believe can cause an idea to either be true, or true from a certain point of view. This is the whole idea behind The Blair Witch Project and why I enjoyed the films so. These films are not just different and new forms of creating a scare, its new new way of perception to some, but one that many of us film fanatics have understood and longed for in film for so long.
Is the Blair Witch real? No. Is Bigfoot real? Depends who you ask. Was the Blair Witch Project real? Depends on when the question was asked.

Legends and myths have to start somewhere. A fake legend is fun, and that is part of the success the Blair franchise has accumulated.

blair witch is not a cult movie,

sorry but any movie that makes that much on an origonal run is not a cult movie, a cult movie is a film that has a underground following, that usually doesnt do well in the theaters but by word of mouth gain a big following later,

blair witch on the other hand had a big marketing blitz around it, it made tons in the theater, and doesnt do all that well in the video stores anymore, around halloween yes but not all year round like a true cult movie will, it wasnt the word of mouth that got it the audience it was the marketing ploys put out for it,

but thats just my opinion on that, i havnt seen BW2 yet, but i think ill wait till video or it comes on cable, the bad signs i saw were when meet the parents beat it out for halloween weekend, not a good sign when a comedy beats out a horror during haloween

Rocky Horror Picture show comes to mind too. I guess you could argue that TBW had a fan base but, I guess it was not that large considering its low box office gross for the sequel. Now I guess the sequel could be a cult film if it its a hit on a video.
