Well, this is the first big weekend of the holiday season and their are four major releases out in the theaters with the weekend easily going to the Grinch. I see the movie is getting mixed reviews but that did not hurt another big movie that made 430 million. I think people will see this movie in droves and I think it will take in about 50 million for the three day weekend. Second is the Sixth day, which does not look any better than last years end of days I say it will make 24 million for second. Here is the rest of my guesses
1 How the Grinch stole Christmas 50 million
2. The Sixth Day 24 million
3 Charlie's Angels 17 million
4 Bounce 14 million
5 Men of Honor 10 million
6 Little Nicky 9 million
7 Rugrats in Paris 8 million
8 Meet the Parents 7 million
9 Legend of Bagger Vance 6 million
10 Red Planet 4.5

The holiday numbers are in and the Grinch easily won this weekend with an estimated 55.1 million haul here is the rest of the top ten
Grinch 55.1
Rugrats in Paris 23
Charlie's Angels 13.7
6th day 13.2
Bounce 11.5
Men of Honor 8
Little Nicky 7.7
Meet the Parents 6.4
Legend of Bagger Vance 2.9
Red Planet 2.7
Man was I off on 6th day it grossed well below what I expected it too, I guess Arnold's career is in worst shape than I thought. and where did Rugrats come from, I never expected it to make 20 million so this a major surprise.

What's up with the discrepency between the Grinch's Friday numbers ($11.9M) and its weekend numbers ($55.1M)? It's like the Grinch was working with a four day weekend instead of a three day weekend. Oh well...the same thing happened with The Perfect Storm in July.

The way I hear it 'The 6th Day' is effectively repeating everything that Arnie has already done in his past movies (in particular 'Total Recall').

'Charlie's Angels' is opening this Thursday in Australia. I might see it. :)

Brister I wondered that too so i looked up Saturday's numbers and here they are
DR. SEUSS' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS 17.35 32.55
RUGRATS IN PARIS 7.30 11.66
CHARLIE'S ANGELS 4.46 87.56
6TH DAY, THE 3.77 6.84
BOUNCE 3.57 6.65
MEN OF HONOR 2.75 21.60
LITTLE NICKY 2.49 23.06
MEET THE PARENTS 2.35 136.05
RED PLANET 1.02 12.40
LEGEND OF BAGGER VANCE, THE 1.01 24.12
If thats right then it had to made about 20 some million more on Sunday. Most likely there estimate is a little high it will probably be closer to 52 than 55.

I saw both The Sixth Day and he Grinch and I must say..

TSD is a GOOD action/sci-fi thriller, the movie raises very interesting issues and questions about cloning and the movie has a lot of twists that I know I had to see coming but I didn't, it's unique in that way, the effects are superb, it's a great movie by itself, if you dont start comparing it to other movies. Hilarious moments from Arnold such as when he sees Arnold 2 smooching with his wife.

The GRinch now, I did not have wild expecations and did not go to see it because it'd be another Dumb and Dumber, the movie is warm, funny and very elaborate, Carrey at his best, there is one particularly hilarious scene where Grinch has his dog kiss this fat man's lips wih its ANUS. LAugh out loud moments without killing the Dr Seuss book's feel, great job Ron Howard, if the movie does good in its depriciation rate, say good bye to M:I 2.

I decided to what numbers the grinch made on Sunday and it made 16.73 and adding it to the Friday's and Saturdays numbers does not make 55 but Showbizdata.com prints as its gross to date 55.08 so were Friday's numbers wrong or did the Florida have a recount or something. I think Brister is right it looks Perfect Storm all over again.
