It looks like Grinch has a very good shot at surpassing MI2 before the year is out to claim the top spot for 2000. A winter release rarely beats out summer competition to win a year, especially without its post New Year totals. I think the last film to do this may have been the big boat flick itself. Did anyone see this coming?
Speaking of surprises, I can't believe how poorly The Sixth Day is doing. This is going down as Arnie's biggest domestic flop in years. :(

How much has The 6th Day earnt thus far?
Speaking of Arnie movies, how much did End Of Days make? It wasn't to crash hot either I think.

Do you think it'll outgross Toy Story 2? How is that possible? I bet Disney are wishing they released TS2 the week before Thanksgiving now.

I think you can rest assured they'll know better next time!

I think I read something at Box Office Guru that Grinch's decline is slightly ahead of TS2's at the same point in its run. This is just another sign of how the summer BO ended with a bit of a whimper after a solid start.

How is that a sign that the end of the summer was bad? I don't get it

I think because thing have rebounded in the Fall (Charlie's Angels, Rememeber the Titans, Meet the Parents) and Holiday season (The Grinch, The Grinch, and The Grinch some more :b) - he's saying that if the end of summer had had some remotely decent movies, Summer 2000 might have finished ahead of Summer 1999.
I THINK that's what he means.
