Sources at Sony Pictures have confirmed with us that Kirsten Dunst ("Bring It On," "The Virgin Suicides," "Jumanji," "Interview with the Vampire" ) has been cast to play Mary Jane Watson in "Spider-Man". Last week our sister site Spider-Man Hype! reported that, according to her agent, Dunst wasn't available for any other projects due to the fact that she was about to close a deal to play Mary Jane. We can expect an announcement in the trades Thursday.

Plus she is one of today's best young actresses. I loved her performance in D i c k. Actually, she was great in every movie I've seen her in.

I saw 'Bring It On' yesterday (it has finally opened down under - Australia really sucks at times in getting films ASAP) and I found it a tad disappointing. Kirsten looked cute but the scriptriters didn't give her anything to work with. Eliza Dushku and Gabrielle Union got the better end of the deal with less screentime I think.

Oh well. 'The Virgin Suicides' was a lot better - one of my favourite films this year. :)

PS. 'Dick' was cool BTW. Dan Hedaya gives probably the best performance of Nixon I've seen - even better than Anthony Hopkins in 'Nixon' methinks. :)
