I saw an prediction of 24 million for Julia Roberts' The Mexican this weekend, I can't really believe it will make that much - but I could be wrong. Apparently everything Miss R touches turns to Gold these days.

It also stars Brad Pittso I think it will easily be #1. aLso a family movie see Spot run opens tomorrow too so I am sure Hannibal will no longer be #1.

The Roberts' juggernaught will take the number 1 spot this weekend. Never underestimate the chick power of Roberts' or a horrific fate will befall you... The strange thing is, that both Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt are considered major Hollywood stars but only one of them has delivered consistently at the BO. If you think about Meet Joe Black it's pretty easy to figure out who's got the real BO track record. Brad Pitt has done some great work, (Seven, The Devil's Own, Snitch), but Roberts is the one who's taken mediocre to good films and turned them into BO gold. I think the 2 of them could easily bring in $30M his weekend. But who knows, the film may not come across as "chicky" enough and may struggle to hit $20M. I'm guessing between $25-$30M.

Yeah even though Julia Roberts is not very attractive whatsoever, and she's not an especially good actress either, I'll give her one thing, she is box office gold. If I was a studio executive, she'd be the first person I'd want in my movie. There are other bankable stars, but even take Adam Sandler and the guy had a total dud with Little Nicky. Julia Roberts makes everything work out, she is invincible lately.

If anyone is worth their $20 million paycheck, it's her. You don't have to like her to say that, you just have to recognize success when you see it.

I haven't seen many of her movies - I tend to catch them on tv - but I thought she was especially good in Conspiracy Theory. (except for a couple of crying scenes)

Well, I guess it wasn't chicky enough. Here's the conversation my wife and I just had;
Jedieb- "The Julia Roberts movie only made $20M this weekend."
Mrs. Jedieb-"The Mexican?"
Jedieb- "Yeah."
Mrs. Jedieb- "You know why don't you? Because it's got Brad Pitt in it. He's not that good of an actor and he's only attractive to gay men!"
