I cannot believe all the cuts that have happened in the last few days and it must be a record. Every team has atleast 5 cuts and teams like Jacksonville looks like cut half its roster. My team the chiefs cut its best QB Grbac because he wanted too much money 40 million for 4 years for a slightly above-average QB at best. And now we will only have two players over 30 the kicker and a LB. The problem is almost ever team is over the salary cap mainly because of signing bonuses which should be gotten rid of because they are hurting the game.

Yeah its a pretty ugly situation. I think teams are finally starting to learn how to manage all this better.
Course all these players are cut are going to be screwed, hardly any team(except the Bangels and a few others) have enough cap space to pay for any top notch free agents so most of these high tier guys are going to have to take a major paycut to play this year(course making only 2million a year has gotta be rough).
I guess Grbac wanted to play elsewhere, I don't know if it had anything to do with the money, I was reading that the team didn't like him overly much and it was kinda a ugly situation. Looks like he may land in Seattle. I think these QB's are the only ones who are gonna get the big salaries, the rest of the FA's aren't spectacular.

I think Grbac would do well to hook up with Holgrem in Seattle. He's got some experience with the west coast offense and he's definitely an upgrade from Kitna. I wonder who the Cowboys have cut?

I haven't seen any big names from them, check out espn.com, they've got all the lists on there of who's been cut.

I don't think Grbac will do that well even if he goes to seattle. Seattle does not have the weapons that the Chiefs have. Grbac was bailed out many times by the spectacular play of Tony Gonzalez and Derrick Alexander and thats why he would have been better of with the chiefs. As far as why he left there maybe more to it. The chiefs are supisious especially Vermil I have heard rumors that Seattle may have discussions with Grbac in recent weeks. If that is true then that they obvisioly tampered with him and should get fined and lose a draft pick. Of course it could just be rumor. Now the chiefs are stuck with one QB Todd Collins who is just a back up I suspect they will sign one soon, though they might trade for Trent Green who is not bad, though I would prefer that they don't give up their first round pick to get him. I think they should sign a decent QB like Gus Ferrorte or perhaps Flutie and then draft a QB, I have heard they are high on Josh Heupel from Oklahoma. Still with all their cuts they are defintley now rebuilding which is too bad I thought they had a chance this year with Vermil coming in with the new offense.

I just read that Seattle signed Hasselbeck. I guess Holgrem thinks he can groom another Green Bay QB into a superstar. I think he's nuts. I never saw anything out of Hasslebeck while he was backing up Farve at Green Bay to make me think he was a franchise QB.

It really didn't cost them that much though, a 3rd rounder and dropping from 10th to 17th in the draft. I wouldn't count Hassleback down though, Holmgren brought in Favre and drafted Brunnell...I think he knows his QB's.
Any Guesses on Flutie? I'd say San Diego, he could teach Vick pretty well but they're nowhere near a Superbowl run and thats what Flutie wanted when he came back to the NFL.

How about Kansas City, of all the teams that need QB they have the best shot at a super bowl in the next two years and the most money to spend besides Cleveland, Cincinati and Philadelphia. I'm not sure if they will sign him I have heard they are interested but they are also interested in Brad Johnson but I think the Ravens will sign him. Any idea where Elvis might go. Most teams can't pay him, I guess the Bengals could sign him they have plenty of cap room and a terrible QB.

I think putting Brad Johnson in a Ravens uniform makes them the team to beat next year. The only team that could hope to compete with them would be a Rams team with an improved defense.

Last I heard Chiefs were in a bit of Cap trouble and are gonna be down for a year or two trying to recover....could be wrong though.

Actually they cut Elvis, Chester Mcclockton, and James Hasty along with a few other players saving them nearly 40 million. They are now 6 million under and have the 4th most money in the league. The chiefs are now rebuilding which means it will be a rough 2001 but with Free Agency one can reebuild really quick. Just look at the Giants and Ravens.

Well, it's finally over. The Cowboys 1990s dynasty, which really ended the day Jay Novachek retired, officially ended with the release of Troy Aikman. A sad day for Cowboy fans and a joyous occasion for Cowboy haters. Sorry..., I can't...go...on... :(

In theory Bledsoe's signed for life, awesome!!!!!!! Now they just gotta get a line to block for him.

Where do you think Aikman will go? There are only two places left who need a QB San Diego and Kansas City. I think San Diego probably will take him. Norv Turner is the OC and he likes Aikman. When that happens I then see Flutie going to the Chiefs, I can't see them giving up their 12th pick for Green that is just too costly.

I think Aikman will go to KC and the Chiefs will get Green(if St. Louis will get rid of him). Green is young(relatively) and very talented so he'd be around for a few years. If you go with Flutie then you've gotta think about 1-2yrs from now when he's 40 and can't play anymore and your in the same boat.

Marino?! The guy could barely walk his last season! I don't know who they could possibly get with all of their salary cap problems. But if the Cowboys go through the season with what they have they'll be lucky to win 7 games.

They took a 10Million hit cause of Aikmen, they're pretty much already screwed this year, might as well look forward to that #2 pick next year and plan ahead.

jjwr Did you mean SD would get Aikman or KC would get both Aikman and Green? I'm not sure about Green I don't want them to lose their first round pick I was hoping they would draft a RB, They need one badly!! I guess they could trade for Jeff Blake or wait until Beuerlein gets cut. Also two more former pro bowlers were cut today Cortez Kennedy of Seattle and Levone Kirkland for Pittsburg. I was surprised about the latter Kirkland was the last of that great LB foursome they had in them mid 90's Brown, Lloyd, Kirkland, and Greene. That was one great Line backer group.

Oops....I meant Aikman=SD and Green=KC....I think Vermeil likes Green to much to pass on him, he brought him to St Louis to run that juggernaut offense. I'd imagine KC would stick with the RB by committee or grab a RB in the later rounds and go for a top notch QB....Beurline may be a option but he's getting on in age.

Well the QBs are dwindling down. Flutie went to SD yesterday and now KC has three maybe four choices. They can give up a first and thrid round pick for Green but only if they get their second rounder back, sign Aikman, trade for Beurline, or if the saints are interested trade for Blake. I am not even going to guess how this will turn out, it depends on how the Chiefs-Rams negotiations go if they can't work out an agreement then they might have to think about signing Aikman. He is younger than Beurline and the Chiefs have a few advantages over the Cowboys, they have a great offensive line gave up the fewest sacks last year and they play on grass both of these things will keep Aikman most likely healthy. The only question is what does he have left? The chiefs have a lot of talent in their recieving core they need another reciever probably but they have Gonzalez the best TE in football, Alexander a great WR and Morris an up and coming reciever, Aikman would defintly have a better numbers than last year considering that Ismael was really his only target last year after Galloway got hurt and Ismael would not even make the chiefs starting line up. But the question remains can he put up the great numbers he put up just a few years go and that is a question I cannot answer.
