most of us here, I think. :)

I just got a Philips 701 player a couple of weeks ago, which plays DVD, VCDs and CDRWs.

We got our DVD player over a year ago in December 1999
and we wouldn't go back to videos. Only reason use vcr now is taping off TV; first time a dvd recorder comes to local stores and cheap enough-see how fast we'll get it!

I think I'm buying a lot of movies on DVD that I never really thought of buying on VHS because of the quality and longevity.

Hey I like your sig Darth, that's awesome.

Well, I love DVD's, they are so great, so small, easy to store, and sometimes the amount of special features just blows me away. DVD's are opening up an entirely new way for the public to learn about filmmaking.

Many of the DVD's are capable of explaining the special effects, and the filmmaking process, and you can really start to get an idea about what goes into these films. Obviously, you are still only scratching the surface, but I think that all of the special features I've seen have helped me understand the complexities of filmmaking, and appreciate many of these movies in new ways.

I don't know how many DVD's I personally own, I suppose it is around 40-50. I have about 25 Jet Li and Jackie Chan films, I think, maybe more, and then my collection has been growing rapidly lately of a lot of other films.
