OT: Want some TPM backstory? Read C.O.Deception

If you want some great TPM backstory then you might want to pick up the latest EU hardcover Cloak of Deception. There's not as much action as the typical EU novel but there's tons of political manueverings by Palpatine/Sidious. You really get to see how subtle and ruthless Sidious is. He manipulates everyone in sight; The Jedi Council, The Trade Federation, Valorum, etc.. The novel takes you right up to TPM's doorstep I'd recommend it to anyone who's shied away from the EU, but loves TPM to death.

If the hardback price scares you off I believe the novel will be in paperback later this summer.

Does the novel acknowledge that Palpatine is Sideous?

It actually doesn't come right out and acknowledge that the two are one and the same. But there's plenty of subtle hints. The same kind of hints that we saw in TPM. ("We'll watch your career with great interest." The close up of Palpatine at Qui-Gon's funeral. That kind of stuff.
