Box Office Contest weekend of July 13

Friday the 13, and another Box Office challenge. Will anyone be lucky this week?

Once again we have 3 movies opening. Remember the good old days when studios would space their movies better?

The computer animated epic Final Fantasy opens today (Wednesday), followed by Reese Whetherspoon in Legally Blonde and The high powered, excellently cast heist pic, The Score.

Final Fantasy could be a good performer, but it's Wednesday opening could cut into it's weekend performance, the same way Cats & Dogs and Scary Movie 2 seemed to be affected.

Legally Blonde is the first female starring comedy in a while, and it could be a welcome relief to the testosterone fueled action flicks that have been dominating the most of the summer.

The Score will probably play to older audiences, but good word of mouth could help the movie perform well.

I think the only Speical weekend left will be Labor Day (not much of a holiday- there's like 1 movie opening.)

Well it's Summer, So I'm thinking the new movies out will attract more business than BO Guru and Lee think. I'm a little hesitant about LB, but I'm going on the 'counter scheduling' idea. Too bad that I've seem more ads for next weeks Julia Roberts movie than anything else.

The Score is not far behind it could still topple it for the top spot but I think nothing is going to make Final Fantasy #1 man 3.61 for Friday that is really low for a debut it will barely make 12 for the weekend (if that) I guess I was right about it being this year's Titan AE

It's a lot better than Titan AE though. It's kind of like what Titan AE WANTED to be, in some ways.

I was going in the idea that Legally Blonde would appeal to peopel who haven't had much to see in recent weeks. LB is lucky it came out BEFORE the next Julia Roberts pic.
