I have no idea where this thread should go, so I'm putting it in here.
I'm working on a Good YMCA parody called JEDI. I'm really stuck, though, because even though I can change the lyrics, it's hard to make it funny as well. Here's what I got so far:

Young man, there's no need to feel down
I said, young man, pick yourself off the ground
I said, young man, 'cause your in a new town
There's no need to be unhappy
Young man, there's a place you can go
I said, young man, when you're short on your dough
You can stay there, and I'm sure you will find
Many ways to have a good time.

It's fun to train as a J.E.D.I.
It's fun to train as a J.E.D.I.
They have everything to teach you right from wrong.
Just make sure it's the light side you're on.

It's fun to train as a J.E.D.I.
It's fun to train as a J.E.D.I.
You can lose your right hand
You can see across time
You can move stuff with your mind.

Young man, pay attention you must
I said, young man, do you want to eat dust
I said, young man, your lightsabre train with,
and watch out for that bad Sith!

No man, don't give in to hate
I said, young man, I can tell you this straight
So just go there, see the J.E.D.I.
And they can show you the light side.

Young Man, I was once in your shoes,
I said, I had midi's comin' out the whazoo,
I felt, hatred burning down in my gut
I was stuck in a Dark Side rut

That's when someone cleared his big throat
and said young man just stop crushing my throat
Chill out pal, and see the J.E.D.I.
You can sit there and stare blankly.

It's fun to train as a J.E.D.I.
It's fun to train as a J.E.D.I.
They have everything to teach you right from wrong.
Just make sure it's the light side you're on.

J.E.D.I.
It's fun to train as a J.E.D.I.
It's fun to train as a J.E.D.I.
Young man, Young man, there's no need to feel down
Young man, Young man, pick yourself off the ground

J.E.D.I.
just go to the J.E.D.I.
Young Man, Young Man, I was once in your shoes,
I said, I had midi's comin' out the whazoo

J.E.D.I.
J.E.D.I.
J.E.D.I.
J.E.D.I.

I've got everything done except the opening verse, but I'm going to change a lot of it because it just doesn't...FLOW right. My only guidlelines are that it each line has to have about the same number of syllables as the original, and the rhyming has to be the same.
Any idea/comments?
Oh, and I'll stick the fiished version on my website naturally.:)

heres a quick one. I havent read it yet, but in the parody Y.O.D.A. they used quotes to fill in lines. YOu could try that

Read it, loved it! That's an awesome one.:)
And using quotes is a good idea!

I must say, YMCA was just MADE for parodies. Even in its original form, the song sounds like a spoof! I got the idea because I work as a photographer's assistant at weddings, and at every reception I've been to, they play YMCA. I usually have that song stuck in my head for a day or two afterwards.:)

That was really funny. You can never have enough SW parodies.
