OT- special effects help needed w/Photoshop5.5

Hi guys, I'm just learning how to use Photoshop,how can I put a pic of myself on a different background? I have some digital pics I'd like do some work to. Thanks!!!

I'm no Photoshop expert, but I believe that you need to make a selection of yourself in the original pic, copy it, then paste in into a new layer on the background pic.

You'll probably want to use the lasso tool, press L to activate it, make your
selection, copy it and paste it onto whatever you want. you'll probably have
play with color balance, brightness/contrast to make it look believable. Also,
when you're done, you MUST flatten your image, or it will be virtually useless
as you'll only be able to save it in psd format. Hope it helps.
