"There have been rumblings about an appearance of Liam Neeson in the prequel-sequel. As you certainly know, his character of Qui-Gon Jinn was killed by Darth Maul just before Obi-Wan could come in and save the day against the evil apprentice. So do we get to see Qui-Gon as a spirit (ala Obi-Wan in the classic trilogy) in Episode II?
Two sources have mentioned that they think he may be at Ealing Studios this week, perhaps shooting blue screen for an apperitional appearance in the movie. While we've yet to confirm this as solid information, we can say that according to SI Qui-Gon is at least mentioned in the script. Details beyond that are sketchy, so expect an update soon."

I hope this report is true. I have been holding out a glimmer of hope that he returns either in 2 or 3 for at least a brief appearance.

Yah, that would be pretty cool.

I really hope Qui Gon makes one last appearance to Obi-Wan, or maybe even to Anakin.

Here is some new information to add to the speculation.
from theforce.net

"There's been much talk of Liam showing up in London recently, with many connecting him to Episode II. While there has been no confirmation of this officially and all our spies can say is that he is "mentioned in the script," one has to wonder if he was there and what he may be doing.
Many have said he would be too busy with K-19: The Widowmaker with Harrison Ford to come back for the pick-up shots. However, new information appearing in today's Halifax Herald shows that he was on a recent break from filming and is due in any day now.
"Our two big names, Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson, will be here as they are required in the segments being filmed over the next few days."
As usual, the whereabouts of the film's stars is a closely-guarded secret. However, the publicist said both Mr. Ford and Mr. Neeson are known "explorers" when visiting new locations. He said they could pop up just about anywhere over the next few days, before the cast and crew head back to Toronto to work on other parts of the movie.
This would certainly have given him time for a day or two at Ealing and still get back to Canada in time for the production to pick back up.
We've also had several possible Liam sightings in England over the past few days, one from Moloch about the Qui-Gon actor heading in for a a swift pint. Reports say he didn't have the long hair or beard (confirmed by recent pictures as well), but he was there, larger than life, mixing with the locals. And one final interesting sidenote for those still convinced of the conspiracy theory. The pub is called The Bolligrew Arms, and it's about 5 minutes walk from Ealing.
I (Josh) think he was at least there to check in on filming and catch up with old friends. But perhaps something more ..."

I agree with the poster at the very least he is there visting Lucas to see how filming is going. but I do think there is the possibility that he will come back to play Qui-Gon Jinn in the next film.
