This was posted on theforce.net its interesting but some of it I think is speculation

Rebel has proved their worthiness before, and now they chime in with something we cannot even come close to have confirmation on. Here's what we do know: After Episode III, there will be a definitive version and complete set of DVDs of all of the movies. In the meantime, there may be versions of the the films on DVD, but nothing like this final set.
Something to keep in mind as you buy a few different versions now and then have to buy the final one in 2006. But here's where it gets interesting. What possible changes could be made to tie in the entire series into one seamless six-hour marathon. There's an official list starting somewhere, which may include some of the following:

Episode 3 won't be the last time you'll see alot of the main characters from the prequels in a Star Wars film. They'll also be in some of the sequels. Let me explain.
I beleive it is called "The Archival Editions"...The re-release of all six films after a break following Episode 3. My source is good and I know this is happening, and frankly George Lucas is beyond a genius to think of this to make more money. Also this may explain some of the reasons episodes 4-6 haven't hit DVD yet.So here is some of the cool stuff you'll see.

During production on Episode 3 they will also be filming stuff for episodes 1, 4 , 5 and 6 to add into the Archival Editions.

Bail Organa senate scenes in Episode 1 to be shot added later to where the other Bail's lost scenes were suppose to be.

Also the last time you see Bail Organa won't be escorting Padme and baby onto a starship and blasting into the stars in E3. An older Bail will have some scenes added into Episode 4 prior to his planet being blown up by the Death Star.

Those being added into E4 will be a senate scene where The Emperor will make a cameo. Arguing with you guessed it ...Bail Organa... Plus a scene after the senate hearing where The Emperor contacts Vader and orders him to "Wipe out" Senator Organa's planet.

A holographic photo of Qui Gon will be added to Ben Kenobi's house in ANH. Also other little Jedi Tidbit's from the first 3 episodes will be added in his house. "Old friends long gone."

A scene on Coruscant in Episode 5 showing a demolished Jedi Temple. Cutting to the Emperor speaking with Vader about the son of Skywalker.

We'll have a few more from the rumor mill soon enough, but in the meantime we want to know what you would change or add in this final version.
What new scenes would you add in? Got an interesting idea for some dialogu changes? Would Jar Jar be in the background of a shot? What ever happened to Naboo? Would Greedo still shoot first? Send us your suggestions and we'll post a pile of the best ones as we've got some time on our hands before this comes out!

Some of that like Bail added to EP1 would be cool but I am not sure how he could be placed into IV or the Emperor for that matter they would just look different. As I said I think somebody is just speculating on what Lucas might add to this DVD.

I like the idea, but it would be impossible to not make it look wrong

Hmmm... An interesting prospect, but I agree with you Reaper - it just wouldn't feel right. It was one thing when Lucas went back and did the Special Editions for them, but that was mostly cleaning a lot of things up and bringing some of the effects shots up to date. The way this sounds, though, it is as if he would completely change the flow of the movie to add some of these new shots in. I guess only time will tell if it is true, but I I'm happy with them the way they are.

I think I'm all for this move. My biggest fear is that the prequels will look different than the sequels, and that there won't be enough visually to tie them together. Showing shots of a ruined Jedi temple, or a Bail scene in A New Hope would be a great way to make the saga blend together seamlessly IMO.

I'm all for it too if they can make it look right on film. I just hope Lucas wouldn't go to far with it for example I heard people speculating on theforce.net about him adding all the other jedi in spirt form at the end of ROTJ. I'm not sure that would work because obvisoly Luke wouldn't know who they were, unless he is not suppose to see them.

I had always thought that it would be neat to put in all of the Jedi at the end. Carr, you're right in that Luke wouldn't know who most of them were, but it would still be a nice touch - all of the wise Jedi of the past acknowledging Luke.

As for the rumor of Lucas doing these new additions to the movies, I do think it would be neat, but I just have fears that it wouldn't mesh with the rest of the material. Not from a storyline perspective, but from an effects angle. They would need to make it seem as though it was shot twenty years ago so that there are not glaring differences between the two styles.

I also think that at some point, you just need to step back from a project and say "Done", even if there are certain things that you are not 100% happy with. It just seems as though George Lucas isn't willing to let go and he wants to constantly tweak the movies, which IMHO are already fine the way they are...

I think an Archival edition with those extras is a great idea. AS LONG AS I GET THE ORIGINALS ON DVD! Lucas has to realize that there's a strong desire by fans to have the ORIGINAL versions of the OT. A perfect DVD set would include the OT, the SE's, and the Archival edition. Make ALL of those available, along with a ton of other goodies and you've got a great DVD collection. It may seem like a lot, but there are plenty of 2 disc sets out there so I don't see it out of the realm of possibility to put together a 12 SW disc set.

I like the idea of adding these scenes into an archival edition, to make a more seamless saga, but this (quoted) part makes me question the entire source. Doesn't anyone else see what is "wrong" with it?

Vader didn't order the destruction of Alderaan. Vader didn't even come up with the idea. Tarkin did.

"Perhaps she'll respond to an alternate form of persuasion."

"What do you mean?"

It doesn't sound bad. Cool ideas.

At the San Diego Comic-Con this year, Steve Sansweet categorically denied that any more changes would happen. He said George was happy with the way the movies are now, and the SE's are his "difinitive version", for what its worth.

While Sansweet said that Lucas could have changed his mind or there is another possibility. Some of these scene could end up as extras. I would love to see some of the deleted scenes from the OT and Prequels on an ultimate DVD for example the sandstorm in ROTJ, the Wampa attack in TESB, Darth Maul and Qui-Gon fighting on the ship, etc. Most of these scenes have never been seen by most of us and I would love to see them as extras on a future DVD.

I decided months ago that I would never believe another word out of the mouths of Sansweet and McCallum. They say whatever they want, and quite often they are wrong.

"A film is never finished....only abandoned"

Thats what GL said in one of the Special Edition, making of interviews. So if he thinks he can improve his vision i'm all for it.

it would be nice if Lucas could offer a seamless integration version (a la X-Men) as well as the originals. By originals, I'm talking about the real originals and not the special editions. it's unfortunate that we'll be spending money to buy the movies separately (like Phantom Menace) because he obviously intends to re-release the entire series as one set. but i guess that's the way it will be.

the "Ultimate Stars Wars DVD" would include (INHO):

original version
SE versions
new "seamless integration" version to connect all 6 movies
deleted scenes
bloopers/outtakes
interviews
commentary
documentary
some blurb on ILM
a secret look inside Lucasfilm
storyboards
technical schematics
screenplays
trailers/TV spots, etc

and anything else ol' George could fit in there :)
