Let's keep her in her box. And only bring her out for special occassions - like a puppy!

I abstain from voting on the grounds that I am not a sadomasochist.

Isn't Liz too occupied with German paperwork?
That's what has kept me from posting for years ;) :D

I was just about to say that I do indeed have a very pervy box that once contained Ewok-Cat, if I'm not mistaken. Ah, photoshop.
But you guys, seriously, I love you. :love Believe me when I say that I miss all of you like crazy and would absolutely love to get back to writing (it's a much less taxing stress reliever than running!) It's pretty rare to find a community of people like this who truly extend beyond writing companions and become like family and the last... seven (?!) years with you lot have been so, so wonderful. :glomp
Thus far I hesitate to commit to anything because though the desire is strongly there, the circumstances right now are... well, life is good and I'm happier than I can remember being in a long, long time (since perhaps Swaziland) but that seems to also be in direct correlation to how busy I am. Besides setting up life in a new country that, as Peter says, adores paperwork (oh god so much paperwork) and having to file personal and business taxes in upwards of 6 countries and working out the travel schedule for myself and my kid to see each other and learning the ropes at my new job and sorting out basic things like a mobile and bill payment, spring/summer has struck with a vengeance and the weather is intoxicating. I've been spending as much time as possible outside and my lovely new German friends are so, so welcoming and eager to play footie or have braais and show me their country, which means we're not getting in until late at night. Even on the more sedate days, having to scrabble through in a language that is still new (and it seems like the more languages I learn, the easier it is for me to get mixed up and 'stuck' in one that I don't want to use in the moment) leaves me pretty knackered by the time the clock rolls around to bedtime. And, you know, there's the usual terror and trepidation and anxiety and self-doubt that comes from a swift and startling transition like this. Most days I have no idea what the hell I am doing and I'm okay with that, but there are those days where I'm definitely not okay with it and am overwhelmed with the urge to just bunker off to South Africa or Swaziland because it would be the familiar and easy thing to do.
(note: I will never just bunker off to South Africa or Swaziland. Because it is the familiar and easy thing to do.)
But all those excuses aside, I'd love to get back to it. If I did so now, it would be suuuuuper slow, though, and there's no way I'd be reviving all my characters. It's just not mentally feasible. :(
ETA:
I FORGOT TO ADD THAT I STILL NEED TO CATCH UP ON DOCTOR WHO. So there's also that time consumer on the back burner.

WOW you are adjusting very well. Even your sentences have become awfully long. BTW how did you survive this terribly long winter here in Germany... especially outside?

You being away is making us lose our civility, Liz.
