We've got a rough map (http://www.sw-fans.net/wiki/index.php/Galaxy_Map) of Alliance and Imperial space, which is a big help. However, it's not always easy to work out at a glance which races those planets correspond to.
For example, Reshmar pointed out in this thread (http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?t=23299) that Cato Neimoidia (N11), homeworld of the Neimoidians (Trade Federation) is now part of the Alliance. On the flipside, Ithor (M6) is a Rebel world that's still in Imperial territory; and Chandrila isn't even marked on the map (it's in M10 near Kuat / Balmorra, I think).
I thought it might be useful to pull together a quick reference list of the worlds/races/species that are in each faction/territory (a wiki page, sticky thread, or whatever). I think it'd be a big help for creating new characters: it might make it easier for people to find cool non-human races so that we get a bit more species variety on the boards.
