Holy cow, there is a lot of Most Wanted (http://www.sw-fans.net/wiki/index.php/Special:Wantedpages) pages on our wiki right now. 3339 to be exact! Everyone one of those is a link that someone has put in an article... that points to nowhere. All those red, dead links :cyduck

Your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to create as many of these most wanted articles as you can! If between us we could create even 30 new, useful articles by the end of the month, that would be awesome.

Many of those character links were duds: ones that I never actually got to roleplay because people bailed / etc. I've removed them from my Template; now there's no problem.

To be fair, I had the same issue with a couple of dead end characters linked from my template. I just deleted them before anyone else could see because I so sneaky!

Killing wanted pages like a bawss...

...well, at least, I'm putting up an infobox or biosheet and filling in what I can shortly in the infobox, and adding my OOC template for my character list. That way it's getting the dead-end links off the 'most wanted' list.

I've gone through and did the ones for my characters that didn't have pages yet, plus a couple that are connected to my characters... So, what I have done so far is a little bare-bones, but it gets them off the redlink list... and they will be worked on further! Also, I removed the link from my character list template to "Falcon Gyndar" so that gets rid of all the dead-end links to that. :)

I have solved one of the red links! Apparently Wei had two wiki pages (apparently the wiki is very strict about capital letters). Now he only has one. All links point to the page I wrote for him. :D

Part of me wonders if any of the other "wanted" pages are a result of typographical errors.

I'm tidying up my own characters pages, bit by bit.

Getting rid of the red links is nice, but I'm not sure it's a wise idea if the pages going up are just place-holders with one or two sentences. Yeah, we don't have red links any more... but the articles still need writing, and now we don't have a handy list to help us find them.

Maybe we need a "stubs" category or something, to help us find the place-holder pages that still need to be expanded upon?

Also, a lot of this red links stuff came from our character list template stuff. What if we switched to using a category instead? All of my character pages could be in "Characters (Jace)". Anyone looking to see who I play can still find them... and if I haven't made a character page, it's not going to screw anything up by causing any red links.

Well I used the Datasheet GalRegs (found here;

I'm with Chris on the formatting thing: I'd be much more inclined to update pages if there was a slightly more consistent look to it.

Maybe we could find a way to use colours to differentiate between settings (instead of factions), or something? I dunno, just thinking out loud.

In the particular case of links that list stuff that would basically be copied and pasted from Wookiepedia I think a short explanation followed by a link to the article on Wookiepedia would suffice, such as this for an example;

I think in the case of characters from the movies we don't need wiki pages at all. Planets and such can be linked to our characters and roleplays and so a wiki presence is cool because then you can see who is on that planet or what RPs/stories took place there (in theory), but Darth Vader doesn't need to be on our wiki except in the case of the time Anbira's clone took the name Darth Vader pre-reset.

If that makes sense? I'm not really fussed about it if there are existing pages or if someone wants to add them. I suppose adding the "Luke Skywalker was killed on board the second Death Star" would be relevant to our wiki.

edit: I was 'moving' unused files (pictures) to the Delete category, but I think it's possible for an admin to simply delete them from where they're at (Special Pages>Unused Files)

The newest ones from 2013 probably just need to be slotted into the pages they were uploaded for I guess.

Mon Mothma - Committed suicide after sending everyone she knew to their death

I thought Home One's engines could've been disabled during the battle and thus she wasn't able to get far enough away from the Death Star. Horrible Radiation from the Death Star's Reactor Core cooked everyone aboard the Home One, including Admiral Ackbar and Mon Mothma. Fortunatly enough funds were raised from the impromptu Fried Squid sale on Endor's Moon to give poor Mon Mothma a proper closed casket state funeral.

Lando and Wedge used up all their torpedoes/missiles during the battle and so had to kamikaze their targets in the Death Star Run.

edit - though on a half-serious note, I can actually see Lando being one of a handful of survivors, but due to survival-guilt he falls to heavy drinking and gambling, and is shot during a game of cards after being caught cheating.

If people copy/paste wookieepedia pages without removing all the wookieepedia links coded into them then we get a ton of unneeded 'wanted pages' that only one page is asking for. Like a page for Palpatine or the ancient battle of whocares in 245ABY or whatever. :lol

Using Wookieepedia for information is great I think we should just streamline what we use and make sure if we're adding a page that it relates to our RP in some way or is a good reference to have on hand like swears and food and drinks (also we can put in our own made up things into those particular databases).

Like we have planets added, but we try to put in a "on swfans" section so you can see what took place there, who blew it up (kidding), that sort of thing.

And yes, those are what I'm talking about when I mention unneeded pages. If it's a red link and we don't need it I'd go ahead and axe them. If someone comes back in later and decides they want to put a page there it can be fixed.

edit: I went ahead and cleaned up that page. There was Second Galactic Civil war stuff in there too, which happens when Jacen Solo is a Sith, so that certainly doesn't go in our wiki.

I think it's pretty obvious when it's a wookieepedia copy/paste that leads to lots of odd links. And changes can be rolled back if you do something that someone disagrees with, so I wouldn't worry too much about taking out weird red links.

Edit again: Sooooo. I worked on the Galactic Regions pages. I killed all the red links. Any link that had already been done I left. Basiclly I figured if someone wants a system planet or sector in the wiki they can add it. I did not see why we needed every known system sector and planet in our wiki.

We are now at 2500 even links

I've been working on the New Class Program for the Alliance Navy. Mainly Infobox and Pictures for now but I've got the Republic Star Destroyer, Scout Ships, and Carriers up, and blank Infoboxes for the rest so there are no mean red links.
