It was a place to give the world some space
the elves they created a tower.
Many elves lost their lives in a storm.
From these old days, now, the world is carried by the Skytower that keeps it there at the Heavenly tent.
In it's depths, through a very beautiful gate, they called on the Gods and the Gods talked back to the Elves.
Four came to that place. They took care of the Pure.
The Defiled were sent away.
And so they spoke a bane (were banished).
The ones that were exiled moved south out of the eyes because they were thrown out of paradise. This was the price of their sins."

Today Rhone:

Fired many warning shots at ice hedgehogs but being first a dwarf of piece never actually hit any of them
Made snow igloos for the first time!
Showed no interest at waking up despite the dream Dwarf maiden's bellowing
Treated his own wounds perfectly
Climbed up a frozen ghost ship just as well as any elf
Carried a freaked-out Saidra off the frozen ghost ship
Set fire to said ghost ship with one swing of his hammer
Utterly failed to get on with that odd little Hilldwarf on the ship
Helped care for a yeti toddler who'd lost it's mother to an attack by our rivals
Taught said toddler a few things about good beard care and utility
Stood calm in the face of an aggressive, but not-yet-violent yeti rescue party and showed no fear at remaining in their tribe's custody as a diplomatic hostage
Had a good dialogue with an Elf shaman for the yeti tribe
Utterly failed to climb up a much bigger cliff that everyone else got up
Fell to his knees in worship of ancient geyser gods
Drove a T-rex to it's knees in a fight
Decapitated a wounded woolly rhino
Drove a woolly mammoth to its knees

and perhaps most promisingly of all

Read something to Glen and hopefully encouraged literacy in the young Thorwal lad

I'm definitely enjoying the rowing and ice sailing minigames - it feels like we're doing a lot more out-of-combat rolling this time around, and are using our skills and abilities a whole bunch more. I feel a smidge guilty that I'm getting such a big slice of the minigame action this time around, but I'm guessing there won't be much ice sailing inside the Skytower, so I'm sure that'll all balance out in the long run.

Mother Galandel's Song

It was our proud ancestors' try
to devour the powers from the sky
some flew some tried to cower
from their cursed tower

They tried to be like like the divine
who punished them with hate and fear
Through a messenger of the great Pyr
Soon their numbers were in decline

And so the two brothers fought each other
the line between love and anger was crossed
Therefore one brother slew another
The ancient high elves were forever lost

Many gave their lifes there
others escaped half insane
Each firnelf is their heir
They gave us our name

It was a glorious battle we won, much to Peter's dismay :D

Rhone was an absolute beast (even his beard is magnificent in battle)...Kurth drove Kayil (sp?) into the wall so damn hard she literally splattered everywhere & was also quite impressive...the dice were not entirely kind to Glen, but he made out well...Saidra done good, and picked up some sweet new armor...we all picked up what weapons we could from the elves that didn't fall over the edge (Makky picked up two new sabers and a dagger made from the rare metal, if you can use a sabre and want one, you're welcome to it)...

I hope I didn't miss anything...

Maybe the part where the first hit of the Watcher nearly killed you and if it had not been for Dasq's/my intervention you would have nearly died during this battle just like Kurth who received a nice beating as well ;)

Oh and don't forget the part where Glen and Makhaira were so stunned by the epicness of this battle so that they dropped their weapons!

For the record:

-You killed a love sick necromancer and removed the immortality of a Half-High-Elf Queen plus destroying her ice castle in the very north that you are in right now as well
-You sabotaged the Realm's chancelor's plot to assassinate the prince leading to the fact that many of his noble loyalists were imprisoned or executed (by the way those people have kids too)
-You sold an inocent woman into slavery while on shore leave
-You postponed the return of Borbarad the most feared demon master of all time by setting ONE of his fanatic followers (yes that's plural) on fire.
-You completly derailed the master plan of a revenge driven archmage twice
-You recently killed a watcher plus a scouting party of Albae (Alb=old German for Nighmare Elf)

But Glen is most afraid of a nearly mindless human like creature that lost its dick. I must admit: "You're braver than I thought." :airquotes

When you put it all like that Peter, we sound like the biggest bunch of BAMFs ever.

It was not 100% intentional but looking at it this way yes.

Also I think I did once mention that you are already considered as true heroes in the center of the Middle Realm and among the boskers and other traveling folk in Aventuria.

I think it was Rhone who said last time: Fuck this we have done....(insert epic recollection of adventures) we do not have to do this like you want us to do it.
For a second there my jaw dropped because I felt infact intimidated and since I had to realize that he was right I let the Albaes cooperate to Rhone's terms. Good roleplaying here by the way!

In other words yes this group has done some badass things, actually you have done a lot of badass things but you have made some dangerous enemies as well. Only in 2 out of 5 adventures the bad guy died and in the Dust and the Stars the appearance of the evil overlord that let's Voldemort look like a math teacher from high school was averted in the last second/hour.

So she created or is Aventuria herself so that her children the Twelve and the Nameless could rule over the destiny of its inhabitants.

60Xp for the grave in the ice and actually reaching the Skytower in one piece.

50Xp for collecting all the songs of the ravens.

15Xp for discovering the Time Loop Murder

100Xp for discovering the true secret of the Skytower

34Xp for saving the dwarven slaves

75Xp for Dragon Slaughter and killing Sintora First Born and Kayil'yanka

400Xp for completing the second Chapter of the Phileasson Saga

Glen has 158 XP left over from the first part of the adventure, bringing his total to 912 XP.

- 400 XP on Both Handed Fighting II.
- 175 XP to increase Axes and Maces by two; putting both in attack gives me AT:18 and PA:14 on both hands.
- 101 XP to increase Brawling by three, which will give Glen AT:16 and PA:11. We're allowed a difference of five, right?
- 99 XP to increase Body Control from +5 to +8.
- 100 XP on Power Attack.

That leaves me with 37 XP left over.

Three annoying questions for Peter, to save me asking later:

- Now that I have Left-Handed, Both Handed I, and Both Handed II, I should have no more penalties (both weapons attack for 16), right?

- Can I do a Counter Hold while brawling, or do I need a weapon equipped for that?

- Is there an expiration date on the "you can level up this skill easier because you rolled two 1s" thing? Do I have to take advantage of that now, or can I wait until next time we level up?

Edit:

Also, I totalled up my experience thus far, and I'm currently standing at 5,462 XP. What level does that make me? :ohno

According to The Dark Eye 4.1 rules 5k XP equals level 5. In the old system (DSA 3) this equals level 10. So you have to activate new skills with level 5 now.

I don't think I'm actually ahead of Jace on XP - probably close but still behind. Since I had my level listed as 7 I think I was figuring things under the old rules with a bit of fudging thrown in because no one was keeping track of how things were supposed to be leveled for a bit.

I will try to go back and tally XP up to figure things more precisely, but what do you want me to do about this disconnect, Peter?

Random aside: I've been thinking lately that I will write a three-part story about Rhone's past. I've been trying to find some information on the Anvildwarf kingdoms in Aventuria but have had no luck. Any idea where I can find some?

If your standard attack value is 18 in axes and maces you perform a double strike with 16 now because of the plus 2 modifier on each throw because now you do not have any penalties for the wrong hand

- Can I do a Counter Hold while brawling, or do I need a weapon equipped for that?

2 things here: 1. No it only works with weapons
2. I just reread the chapter on that and found out that I made a mistake here in the past. You still get 50% of the damage even if you perform a successfull counter hold.

- Is there an expiration date on the "you can level up this skill easier because you rolled two 1s" thing? Do I have to take advantage of that now, or can I wait until next time we level up?
There is no expiration date on this you just have to remember it a little longer

Easiest fix: Just add 30Xp on your sheet as a refund because your GM fucked up levels again and now level with level 5 stats.

Random aside: I've been thinking lately that I will write a three-part story about Rhone's past. I've been trying to find some information on the Anvildwarf kingdoms in Aventuria but have had no luck. Any idea where I can find some?

I haven't found a good website about Anvil Dwarfs yet. The Wiki Aventurica has not much information on the subject as well. I will keep on looking for info but I can give you an explanation of them in a nutshell. Anvil Dwarfs live in the Ambossberge (Anvil Mountains) and they have a zero-shit tolerance against Orcs, Goblins and especially dragons since those big mofos fight with them over the best natural caves and gold.
Their appearance is the one of classic high fantasy dwarfs: More Gimli and Gloin so to speak. Heavy armor, helmets, crossbows, axes, chainmail and dragon slayer lances (operated by two dwarfs) are their equipment of choice. They have a king below the mountain.

They are considered as legendary fighters among the three dwarven races: Hilldwarfs, Brilliant or Gemdwarfs and Anvildwarfs.
The humans value anvildwarfs as mercenarys. Dwarfs that leave the mountain kingdoms are most of the time banned from them or simply found no woman among their people. The ratio female to male dwarfs is not in favour for the males.

OK I found something for you Brian. A fan wrote it and it is in German but I guess you wont have that many problems with it Brian:

Since this faceless death seems to lie at the epicenter of a spreading plague, something tells me the two are linked.

For those who haven't leveled yet, I'm going to spend some points to get Cure Disease at a decent rank. I don't want to discourage anyone else from doing the same, but I don't think we need more than three or four folks with it at max. If you're taking it as a skill, post about it here so people can plan.

Edit:
Also, thanks for the answers to my other questions, Peter. I have one other because I've forgotten how to read the level up costs chart.

The value on the far left of the chart is the level of whatever we're trying to skill up, right? For instance, if I am level 5 but I want to increase my strength from level 15 to 16, I look at the point cost under the column for attributes next to 16 and spend 450 points to increase the stat?

Yes you indeed only need the character level for one thing and one thing only: Activating new skills on your second character sheet page.

There is a very cool witch class in this game that is basicly the ultimate scout since it can not only ride a broom but turn into an owl as well (there is a simillar spell for elves as well btw).

The tabletop skill is there for dramatic and storytelling reasons: Just imagine some of the most iconic Bond movies without a friendly card game with the main villain.

I updated the Perk List so that it now features detailed descriptions for every perk. This is by itself a 16 pages strong source book now. Often other perks will be mentioned that can be combined or are required for using a perk.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B2NNxQmzVQEjWE5mbElVUlRfbDA/edit?usp=sharing

You will notice that a lot of the rules are not always 100% how we have used them before. The reasons for that are numerous but most of the time it all came down to: I simply forget how they work now and then.

You will notice as well that many things will get harder if we use them correctly but that only means that combat will become faster and more competitive.

In other news there are actually skills that I totaly forgot about since they were not in the old DSA system I used to play (2&3) but that are now available like Ranged Attack + X.

Two years ago when I pitched the idea that a RP session at Salty Nerd would be one of those nerdy things we could do I never expected that I would find myself translating German Source Books into English for a couple of days during Eastern.

My next goal is to translate most of the Spells (there are around 100+) and how they are used into English. I have no idea when I will find the time but since I had such a blast with you guys in the past year I will try to give back as much as I can.

I wasn't there for most of it, but from what I was told, the team went down into the bottom of the Skytower, found and freed a bunch of dwarf slaves from a Dark Elf kingdom, and then had to run all the way out of the Skytower. They broke the fishbowl to slow down/drown their pursuers, made it outside, then OMGDRAGONS. (That's the part where I came in)

We defeated the OMGDRAGONS (which I am pronouncing Omega Dragons, FYI) and then left crazy frozen evil elf wastes. We got on our boat, sailed off to some town and were instantly told that outside the town there was a spreading plague. The town had walled itself off to keep the people there safe, however since the people who lived at said town were all a bunch of rich jerks they were just sitting out the pox hoping to keep themselves safe while letting other people suffer and die. There was a preacher who was trying to convince people to go out and help, and they threw a bunch of rotten fruit at him. Our group intervened and spared the preacher some humility at the cost of everyone in town who was a rich jerk not liking us. And that's about where we stopped, I think?

Captain Untouchable

To expand a teensy bit on the part that Brian wasn't here for -

At the bottom of the Skytower was a huge hellish cave, full of lava lakes and hot springs. We were so deep that we were below sea level; and in the cave was filled with dark elf patrols that were using humans and dwarves as a slave labour force.

Using an uncharacteristic amount of stealth and cunning we snuck around the perimeter of the cave to the dwarves, who were operating a lava-fuelled forge. Our plan was to liberate the dwarves and the weapons, and then use those to free the human slaves who were making ridiculously large quantities of glass. We quickly discovered from the dwarves however that the captives had been here for decades: the human slaves had been born into captivity, while the dwarves barely remembered what the outside world looked like. Worse, an ominous tunnel in the corner protected by magical gargoyles led to an Oota Gunga style glass underwater city of dark elves, filled with thousands of soldiers that the dwarves were making weapons to arm. With so many dark elves around, and with the humans being bred as dark elf slaves - and thus probably having no interest in being saved - we decided to cut our losses and snuck out with the (about fifty?) dwarves.

That's when we made our escape through the tower, smashed the fish-bowl, and left Dukes of Hazzard style in our ice-boats. Some coolness happened with the dark elves trying to shoot at us through that anti-gravity field (it didn't go well for that), and we thought we were home free... but a few days into our return to the dragonboat we stumbled across a smashed-up ice-sailer with only one survivor: Glen's ex. We have some very strong suspicions that the other crew has sailed straight into a tower full of very angry dark elves, but Captain Fuckwolf wouldn't risk any of his crew by going back to rescue anyone.

That's pretty much when the two ice dragons showed up. One of them was being flown by that bitch you were chasing when you epic-failed the rope swing and fell down... you spent the entire battle shooting at her face with Dasq, while the rest of us handled the dragon.

I think that's pretty much it? :uhoh

Well one level before the laval level of the Skytower the heroes stumbled over a cave system that looked like a huge prison from the inside. At the entrance the heroes found a guard office that featured a book with several lists of names. At the beginning of the book the pages were full of hundreds of names of which several names got scratched out every day. The list of names grows shorter every day and at a certain date thousand years ago even the last name of a very short list got scratched out.
Behind the office the actual prison starts.

Over the guard door there is an Elfish inscription that says:
:airquotes"Chambers of Protection against divine punishment":airquotes

Beyond the door you found prison cells with nearly no furniture. The ceillings of the rooms have small openings that seem to provide fresh air.

The walls were covered with scratched in High Elvish inscriptions. The whole scenery looked like a safe room from Left4Dead:

"We betrayed the gods and now they punish us"
"High King Fenvarieon will save us!"
"No he wont"

"the Glittering City"
"Our brothers and sisters will save us."

"We have been abandoned by all for our sins."

"In Bhardona we trust!"
"I don't want to go to her."

"Now the priestess of the Goddess start vanishing too..."
"The Goddess is testing us we have to believe in her and in her only stay strong sisters."
"How can you still have faith?"

"What happened to the priests? What are those creatures?"

"Don't speak ill of the Goddess she can see in your mind and knows what you said!"

"<s>Pyrdona is a cunt</s>"
"If you do not die in the Halls of Fire first you will end up on the Goddess' Altar"

"At least the Ravens will remember us!"

"Accidents happen in the Halls of Fire nearly every day.
It seems like the new priests have decided that even
the last of our people who remember the beautyfull world
outside of this tower have to be destroyed.
Even we who used to be her priests have to help melting
glass downstairs. Some say we did not honor the faith in the
Goddess.
In fact Pyrdona has not shown herself to us for a long time.
Have we been abandoned by the last goddess that showed us
mercy. Shame on us, the ones who believed that our divine
ascension was close. We who were not even able to gouvern
ourselves were not ready to devour the heavens.
Who ever reads this, please go to the Temple of the Old Gods
in Tie'Shianna. Pray for forgiveness for the people of the
Skytower. Our time in this world has passed!

Elbrenell, Priest in the Temple of Bhardona"

This was pretty much everything that happened.

Just one more note. Sinthora "Firstborn", the Dark Elf that hurt Glen at the neck on the stairs and escaped Saidra with the dagger that nearly killed Crotteted. She actually had a final message before her face was turned into an undefined mess by Rhone:
"Consider this attack a final warning! The true revenge for what you did at Ryl'Arc's doorstep will follow once "she who has gone to the Nine Hells and back" returns to her children at the sacred city below the ice."

Quick rules checks based on the expanded perk list.

Counter Hold

If I understand this correctly: when I am attacked, I make an attack roll (+4) instead of parrying. If one of us misses, then the other does full damage as normal. If we both hit, we look at what the two of us rolled and calculate the difference between the two rolls; and then whichever of us has the higher Initiative gets those points added to our Attack Value. Then, we see which of us rolled the furthest underneath our AV... the loser does half-damage, and the winner does full damage.

Right? :uhoh

Both Handed Fighting II

Previously, I have used the Double Strike perk to attack twice each round and parry once, with both of my attack rolls being 2 points harder. However, I now have the Both Handed Fight II perk, which gives me an additional attack or parry each turn. Does this mean that I can

a) Attack twice and parry once each turn without using Double Strike (ie. penalty)?
b) Double Strike (two attacks with penalties) and then parry twice each round?
c) Double Strike (two attacks with penalties) and then Counter Hold twice each round?
d) Double Strike twice (four attacks with penalties) and then Parry / Counter Hold once each round?

Master Parry

The perk description says that I can hold back points from my parry roll (like a Heavy Strike) that I can then use to boost my next action.

a) Do I get these points only if the parry succeeds? ie. If the parry fails, I can't use the bonus points on my next action?
b) Do these points only get added to attack/parry rolls, or can I apply them to other kinds of roll? I have the Heavy Strike ability: could I save points from Master Parry and add them to the damage of my Heavy Strike (or can I only add them to the attack roll)? Could I use them on a non-combat roll: for example could I save points and then use them on an Agility / Body Control roll for leaping onto a dragon?
c) Do I have to declare what I am saving the points for (ie. "I am holding back 4 points on this parry to add to my next attack roll,") or can I save the points and then wait until my next action to decide what to do with them?
d) The perk description says "next action". If I want to take Master Parry points and apply them to a Counter Hold, can I only do that if I'm parrying twice in that turn? Do I have to not attack in between in order to save them? Or can I save Master Parry points for my next parry action, and attack as normal in between?

Excursion

This perk talks about "a series of attacks". If you succeed the first (+4) attack, do all of the subsequent attacks happen in the same turn (ie. you keep attacking and attacking until you fail an attack roll) or is there a limit on how many attacks you can do before you have to stop?

Crusader

Counter Hold
Correct! Always keep in mind that the +4 gets added to your throw and the INI (if you are higher) gets added to the AV. Example:

Glen the Wife Beaten has an AV of 13 and an INI of 14. Jasma the Enraged has an AV of 12 and an INI of 11. Jasma rolls an eight on her Attack. Glen rolls a 7 on Counter Hold. Jasma is 4 points under her attack and gets no INI Bonus. Glen adds plus 4 for Counter Hold to his attack roll and so he has rolled an 11 that means he is two points below his AV so the Counter Hold is a success. In addition to that the difference of the higer Initiative gets NOW added to his AV making it a 16. This means he is five points higher than Jasma so his attack is more successfull by one point. Jasma rolls a damage of 1d6+3 and rolls a 2+3 damage so Glen only receives 3 damage because the result got divided by two that get compensated by his armor class of 3. Glen on the other hand rolls a D6+4 and rolls a 3 and so he does full 7 damage because he won the Counter Hold and Jasma wears to little for having an Armor Class!

Double Strike and Both Handed Fight II can't be combined since the additional action you receive is always with your "wrong" hand that has been already used in the double strike but you could do two heavy strikes in one round, one with each hand plus a parry with the dominant hand or you can do one heavy strike and two parrys. One with the dominant and one with the wrong hand. So a) is right.

Master Parry
Yes you can store points for another action of your choice but it has to happen in the next round and if you do two master parries in the same round those points can't be combined with a single action.

Example
Makhaira the Unshakeable has an AV of 16 and a PV of 14 with her amazon sabre. She wants to attack her opponent with a hammer strike in the next round so she needs a better AV for the next round therefore she declares a master parry of +4 this round. She gets successfully attacked and rolls a 9+4=13 so she stays one point under her PV - the master parry is successfull. If she had failed her next attack would have been +4 as well since a hammerstrike is a +8 Attack and her original attack plan would have flown out of the window by now.
But fortunately she succeeds and so the next AV is +8 for Hammer Strike, -4 for Master Parry and since she is in a good mood she adds a +2 from heavy strike. She rolls a 5 +8 +2 -4 = 11< AV= 16 so it is a success. Her opponent is so impressed by this attack so that he rolls a 15 but his PV is only 13. Makhaira goes for damage 1D6+4 +2 from heavy strike. She rolls a 4 so she does 10 regular damage but since this is a hammer strike she does Tripple damage that means she does 30 damage from which only 4 get absorbed by the enemy's chain mail. Her enemy explodes in a red mist of awesomeness.

Excursion
An excursion is continued in the next round of combat. It only ends if the enemy makes a successful dodge/rolls a one on parry/ the defender rolls a CO+4 throw for keeping in harms way/ the attacker finishes the Excursion by doing a special move or declaring it as over / the defender runs out of space for being pushed back then he gets a plus 4 added on his Parry and the attacker may end the series with a special move like a heavy strike.

I just wanted to share a little bit of last night's session with everyone who could not make it:

Makhaira's Fever Dream

You roll around on your bed trying to find a dry spot but all the sheets seems to be soaking wet from your sweat. You close your eyes. You feel how your body is burning from the fever. The pox on your skin are itching. You feel the urge to scratch them open but thanks to your discipline you resist. Sweat is running down your forehead. Like water it flows down from there over your cheeks down your neck until it reaches your chest.
You wonder if you could drown in your own sweat. In fact it feels like your chest is getting crushed by the sweat while your arms and legs seem to be drifting around like feathers in the dark. Voices are singing in your head but you can't understand the lyrics because you are having a terrible headache. Suddenly it feels like you are underwater. The song in your head sounds more dull and you have the feeling that now the sweat has started running down your throats filling your lungs. It gets harder and harder to breath.
You open your eyes in panic and you realize that you are indeed underwater. The water that surrounds you has a brownish color and is very cloudy. Above yourself, you see the light of torches illuminating the surface of this pool. There is something floating close to the surface. You swim closer to check it out. It is a dagger that is surrounded by a cloud of blood. The shape of the blade looks exotic but familiar. Eventually you reach the surface. As your head passes the water your feet seem to have found the floor. This allows you to stand up.
There you stand in a big hall with only a linen shirt on that is soaking wet from the sweat and the dirty brown water. As you look down on yourself you notice that you are actually standing inside a gigantic cauldron. A fire is burning below it. At least this explains why you feel so hot. The singing in your head does not sound dull anymore but you still can not understand the lyrics. The singers are sitting right in front of you in three semi circles. Men and women with white hair and pale skin are holding each others hand. They swing from left to right like in trance. Their faces are hidden in the shadows. None of them has noticed your strange appearance. In the back of the hall some steps lead up to an altar which is covered with flowers.
Behind the altar sits a woman in a white silk dress on a throne that depicts a winged sun at its top end. She looks stunning, every feature of her body seems to rival with the body of the goddess of Rahja. Her eyes must have been closed all the time because now it looks like two rubies are sparkling in your direction. The red light is so bright that you have to turn around.
Behind you stands a foul creature from Belzhorash's domain. The creature looks like a hive of shit, pus, blood and vomit. It's smell is overwhelming. Worms and insects seem to be living on its skin. “Where is your sword now? Little lion girl?” he asks you with a deep voice while his multiple chins are jumping up and down weeping dirt and filth in your direction.
He grabs you at your chin. You can't tell what is worse the smell or the filthy touch. “The goddess of Thunder and War has abandoned you. Your death will be without glory. There will be no song about Makhaira the Proud who died bravely on a battlefield with a sword in her hand. Nobody in an Amazon's castle sings about a woman that passed away in her own sweat and shit. You have failed little lion and now you die.” The creature rams his other hand into your stomach. You try to pull it out of your body but the agony is killing you. You hear manic laughter behind you so you turn your head around. Glowing red eyes are burning themselves into your head before you wake up.

You open your eyes and you look into two tenderhearted brown eyes right in front of you. Abdul is bowing over you so close that you could count all of his many crinkles and scars. “You have seen her red eyes as well?” He sighs. He wipes your forehead dry with a piece of cloth. “We have not escaped her yet and she wants revenge. The Nivese here think that evil spirits caused this plague and they are right because unlike those idiots that build stone houses and call themselves educated the Nivese are smart. You have seen that spirit. You have been touched by him.” He suddenly grabs your shirt and rips it apart. The spot where the creature touched you is now marked by a giant pus filled bubble beneath your skin.
“The creature you saw in your vision is one of Belzhorash's minions. She is the mother of all diseases where your priests of Peraine bring cures and relief to the people Belzhorash brings only death and sickness. Now rest little lion girl. Dead lions do not roar. Oh and you should cover your breasts again.” He walks away from your bed. With each step he takes his back seems to bend more and he appears to become older and older. He starts singing a children song about the twelve and whistles a little bit between the verses. His moment of clarity seems to be over as fast as it came.

Just keep in mind that if Rhone would not have popped up out of Glen's #$$. One of those Goblins might have done the same thing to you since Glen was obviously too occupied fighting against 2 enemies at that time.

You should probably consider to pick up multiple levels of dodge if you insist on not switching weapons at point blank range combat... or at least consider the option of running away. You could have easily jumped down behind the lines of the attackers.

On the other hand I was actually impressed how long Maky survived against those Veteran Goblins. I held those guys back for a balancing reason since I totaly expected them to be worthy opponents for each one of you in a duel.

BTW there would have been a diplomatic option right from the START for this situation. Right before Dee's "Come at me Bro" decision you guys would have had a much better bargaining position aka "We just killed 30 of you guys with minimal loses do you want us to stay and continue"-Parlay and then there is always the trope of "I challenge the biggest mofo in your tribe to end this disput with minimal loses for all sides".

Yeah I know I did not highlight those dialog options with red and blue fonts. ;)

Aw man, I should've totally challenged the largest Goblin to single combat for the entire herd of Karen assuming that single combat allows for a running start!

Wasn't "my" decision...it was entirely Makky's. I've been trying to play her more true to the way her stat sheet is made up. With her list of disadvantages, its a bloody miracle she's not pulled the "Come at me, Bro" maneuver out before.

Peter, if you knew anything about what we do to our regular roleplaying characters, you'd be amazed that we hadn't done more damage to them already :lol

That's the real fun of it, writing in your own handicaps. Why else would I play such a pompous, mirthless douchebag?

Is this one of your ree-tor-ee-cal questions, friend Halx?

The more I watch Game of Thrones, the more I realised that I inadvertently made the Fiddichs into the Starks.

If we were comparing our characters to Game of Thrones..

I have a horrible feeling I'd be Loras Tyrell

...is that the Knight of Flowers?

If so, yes. Yes you would be. :P

On a related note, check out who I ran into while playing 'The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav' PC game:

Also this suspicious looking chap told me about the kinds of people I should be wary of:

I've been putting way too much thought into this Game of Thrones comparison.

If Dasquian is the Knight of Flowers, that presumably means Saidra is Margaery Tyrell. For starters, I can't see Natalie Dormer without thinking of Em... plus if anyone is going to have a magical neckless of flirting it's her... and she does look damn sexy with a crossbow.

If King's Landing is Gareth, then the Lannisters are probably House Gareth, with Cersei as the recently departed Emperor(ess). This probably means that Ravenmouth and his rebels are the various Baratheons, which fits because King Robert was a rebel himself before he took the throne. Ravenmouth is probably Stannis. Our old friend Keanu Banana is probably someone like Littlefinger meanwhile, because if the man we call Banana isn't a pimp, he's missing out on the ideal career.

As someone loyal to the Empress and Gareth, Kurth is probably the Kingslayer. Sure, he's not been screwing his sister, but he has bedded Amazon royalty, and he has a habit of making his enemies go squelch. Makhaira meanwhile is Brienne: big, butch, and ordered by her lady (Ojes) to keep Kurth alive. Not just because of his stature, but also because of his flair for strategy, stuff to do with tunnels, and his innate ability to be accidentally knocked unconscious in most battles, Rhone is Tyrion Lannister.

Glen is a Stark, but which Stark? He's not a bastard, but he did leave the family and pledge his loyalty to someone else, so he's probably Jon Snow... which means his ex fiancée is probably Ygritte. Hydrophobic Sven is probably Bran because he's (metaphorically) crippled and was left in charge of Winterfell while the other Starks were away. Knobbish big brother Ben Fiddich is Theon Greyjoy: no one likes him, he's a massive tool, and he's now a captive because he wasn't as good at being a pirate captain after all. Jens is Robb, the only Stark left who is remotely competent, but he's not really interesting enough for anyone to pay him much attention. And lastly, Fred Fiddich is Arya: he's a slightly girlish man rather than a tomboy, he's not quite as good a fighter as anyone else... but deep down we all know he's probably a total badass.

Going further, the Nivise we're travelling with are probably Wyldlings: nomadic, tribal, and shunned by the "civilised" world. The city where Tim is from (I forget the name) is probably Qarth: a great city of merchants in the heart of a vast desert. We even met the Time Dragon there, and the Mother of Dragons hung out in Qarth fot a spell. The dark elves we fought, and the monsterous gods and demons they worshipped: that's all white walkers and the old gods north of the wall.

And Captain Fuckwolf? I guess he and his crew are the Knight's Watch.

...yeah. Too much thought right there. :uhoh

We need a smilie with an exploding brain since words can not describe what I feel right now! :eee

A comparison between Hal of Gareth and Joffrey Baratheon is not so far off since both sit on the throne although both of them are not real heirs to the throne!

"Saidra is Margaery Tyrell"
While I'm tickled with the comparison... we all know she's a femme version of a different character. :mischief

I think I know who you mean Sarah... but I don't think we know he's a noble bastard in the show yet. No spoilers. :mad

Edit:

Just got the Dark Banana game on Steam. I haven't started playing yet... because I got distracted listening to the music at the beginning. :uhoh
