Carter Hall

Normally "golden age" refers to comics from the 1940s, but for the purposes of this, it basically refers to the previous generation of superheroes: people like Carter Hall who used to wear costumes but are now too old and crusty, and who were responsible for causing this whole superpower prohibition scenario we're currently in.

Quite a lot of our versions of characters already have established ties to golden age heroes in our backstory. Carter Hall and Alan Scott are golden age heroes, while Oliver Queen, Dinah Hall, Kendra Saunders, Ted Kord, Barry Allen, Ray Palmer, and others are either related to, descended from, or inspired by such heroes. Looking to the comics, there's potential for pretty much everyone else to be inspired by or influenced by a golden age hero in some way.

While having fully fledged story arcs in that era would probably be silly, we've probably all seen Watchmen, and know how interesting glimpses of ye olden days can make a story. A thread showing the "end" of the golden age - and possibly the deaths of Carter's wife and Dinah's parents - could contribute a lot to our overall story. Since Kendra Saunders is the reincarnation of Hawkwoman, some flashbacks/memories of her interactions with other golden agers could be a cool storytelling device. I had an idea for a Green Arrow thread that shows both iterations of the character at work, comparing and contrasting their respective crime fighting styles.

Stuff like this will almost certainly happen: but it would be interesting to know what kind of interest there is for the purposes of planning, scheming, and general knowing-of-stuff-ness.

Edit:

Ye olde people we already have -
Doctor Fate (Kent Nelson) -- Jace
Hawkman (Carter Hall) -- Jace
Hawkwoman (Shiera Sanders-Hall) -- Dee
The Atom (Al Pratt) -- Dee
The Flash (Jay Garrick) -- Jace
The Green Arrow (Lawrence Lance) -- Jace
The Green Lantern (Alan Scott) -- Mitch
The Spectre (Jim Corrigan) -- Mitch
The Star-Spangled Kid (Sylvester Pemberton) -- Jace

Hawkman

The No Stomach For Nostalgia (http://www.sw-fans.net/forum/showthread.php?t=23100) thread has got me itching to do some golden age stuff with Hawkman, mainly to compare/contrast with what he used to be like before he got all bitter and grumpy.

Probably some sort of one-off "We fight the villain / the villain is defeated / yay, Ewoks!" type thread or something: a standard day at the superhero office, rather than anything heavy. Mitch, Dee, and myself have a few golden age characters between us, but the more the merrier.

A few of the ones we don't have might fit into backstories for some of the modern characters we have... others are just kinda cool -

Black Canary (http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Dinah_Drake_Lance_%28Earth-Two%29), the mother of Dinah Hall. (Nat?)
Mister Terrific (http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Terrence_Sloane_%28New_Earth%29), who is usually succeeded by Michael Holt. (Holly?)
Wildcat (http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Ted_Grant_%28New_Earth%29), a boxer who taught Batman, Black Canary, and maybe Catwoman their fighting skills? (Jenny?)
Sandman (http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Wesley_Dodds_%28New_Earth%29), a private detective with knock-out gas and prophetic dreams.
Hourman (http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Rex_Tyler_%28New_Earth%29), who gets Captain America style powers but only for an hour at a time.
Doctor Mid-Nite (http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Charles_McNider_%28New_Earth%29), a Doctor who can only see in the dark, and likes owls.
Commander Steel (http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Henry_Heywood,_Sr._%28New_Earth%29), a cyborg type man of steel, possibly "from the government".
Judomaster (http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Hadley_Jaggar_%28New_Earth%29), a martial arts guy, possibly "from the government".
Power Girl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_Girl), who is sometimes depicted as being magic/Atlantean rather than from Krypton.
Phantom Lady (http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Sandra_Knight_%28New_Earth%29), upon whom Silk Spectre from Watchmen is based, and whose daughter (http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Stormy_Knight_%28New_Earth%29) is the basis for Silk Spectre II.
Wonder Woman (http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Wonder_Woman_%28Diana_Prince%29) is around in golden age stories, though sometimes it's her mum (http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Hippolyta_%28New_Earth%29) rather than Diana.
