I heard about this place through a small videogame preview - the game focused on one of the entries in the SCP archives. The website acts as a kind of database for all these weird or creepy or downright deadly things in existence that are under lock and key.

Basically the SCP is an organisation you'd expect to find in the X-Files. With a seemingly global presence and vast resources on hand, the SCP Foundation investigates strange, unexplained events and catalogues them and, if needed, apprehends, containts or otherwise eliminates/secures them.

You can submit ideas which, if voted, become part of the SCP archive. Think of each entry in the archive as a short story. Some cross-over as various SCP's interact with one another through experiements and containment breaches. Two such SCP's are a collection of 40-odd pills which, when ingested, cure all ailments such as AIDS, cancer and even the zombie plague (which itself has an entry in the archive) and a tree which is able to grow a duplicate of any object that comes into contact with it (with an upper weight limit of approx. 200 pounds) - SCP researchers were abl to duplicate the limited number of pills using the tree and found that only 30% of the duplicates have the same curative properties as the genuine pills

Some of the SCP's are inanimate objects, others are mobile - sometimes sentient/conscious - entities. Some are merely places such as a building that has been cordonned off from anyone other than SCP personnel.

One that really creeps me out isSCP-087 - The Stairwell (http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-087).

I'm in love with this site!

I've browsed the site before a little, it's very cool. :) There is a megathread about it on Somethingawful.com in the GBS forum.

Looks like a very similar premise to Warehouse 13. Kinda neat.

Spent the last hour or so reading through random entries. Very interesting stuff. Two things:

1. Like TVTropes (and even Wikipedia), you can lose hours upon hours on this site.
2. Whilst some entries are your garden variety 'monster' type ideas, there's some very disturbing stuff on there. I hope I'll sleep tonight. :ohno
