Me and Reshmar have been discussing when and how the historical Republic class Star Destroyer into our timeline for the Rebel Alliance. A few thoughts from me off hand; Given the alterations in our timeline, and that the New Republic hasn't been declared yet, the name would probably be changed to the Alliance class. Plus, perhaps the designation could be changed from Star Destroyer to Star Defender earlier then normal, to reflect on thoughts given at the time. Finally, given that the Rebel Alliance doesn't have the same amount of territory, resources, and personnel as per historical at this point in the timeline, the overall size and power of the ships probably needs to be reduced to where the ship can still be produced in useful numbers.

Here is a write up of proposed stats from my end, but I'd love to get everyone's thoughts on this. Note that I haven't made any Shield or Hull stats, as Reshmar is far better then me for coming up with those stats.

I like the idea of bringing in the Star Defender Designation for the alliance, but It needs to be just that. An alliance version of the Star Destroyer. So I would like it a bit bigger.I was thinking of using the Defender/Nebula Star Destroyer pic for this. So why not make it on par with the Defender/nebula. So why not make it 1,050 Meters

Lets say
30 Heavy Turbolaser Batteries
30 Turbolaser Batteries
10 Triple Ion Cannon Turrets
24 Point Defense Light Laser Cannons
8 Assault Concussion Missile Turrets
(6 Heavy Missiles each)
10 Tractor Beam Projector

Unless we want to use fighter scale missiles. the the double launchers would be cool

As new as it is I think a class 1.0 hyper drive would be good. We need it to get there and get away fast.

But this would be a ways off because I think the smaller vessels should come first.

Fairly soon we're going to run out of Mon Calamari Passenger Liners and CIS ships to rebuild and convert into frontline destroyers and when that happens we need ships ready to take their place in the shipyard production lines. The MC80b's are very good ships but take a while to build. The Vindertan class Dreadnoughts are excellent anti-capital ship platforms but lack starfighter and troop facilities. The Alliance class Star Defender would be the general purpose capital ship for the Rebel Alliance in that size range.

Basically we are at the point in our timeline where the Alliance will need a "new class program" of warships. We already have the Liberator class Cruiser in the "Cruiser" category and the Vindertan class Dreadnought in the "Battleship" category, while the MC80B fills the "Heavy Cruiser" role. The Alliance class would fit into the second "Heavy Cruiser" role, while the "Light Cruiser/Frigate" and "Gunship/Corvette" and "Fleet Carrier" roles sit unused for now.

Then maybe we should just bring in the new line from the EU.

The Corona is a way better frigate then in use now. It is the perfect patrol ship for single vessel patrols.

The Warrior is a toss up. it is a better build and not reliant on CEC but the DP20 is still a better ship In my opinion.

The Sacheen is a good escort and heavy frigate platform.

The Agave would give us a cheep interdictor platform outside the CEC types. and the non Interdictors are excellent scout and Elint ships.

The Ferret and Prowler are ok spy ships. which is something the alliance could use.

The Belarus gives us the light/medium cruiser I think we need. I still would like to do a MC45 though

The best of the bunch it the Majestic Heavy Cruiser. A 700 meter heavy cruiser with the armor and shielding of an Imp I. One of my Fav ships and for good reason. Heck it even looks cool. It is along the same lines as what your talking about just with no fighters.

Then there are the big boys. The Nebula/Defender star Destroyer which i have nothing against calling them star defenders. and the Endurance fleet Carrier. which has a pretty new picture i would love to use for it.

And the MC90 was planned to come out of the Cal shipyards in year 10 ABY anyway. I had mentioned this many times to people.

Of the New Class designs I like the Corona as a replacement for the NEb B. The Belarus for a light cruiser. And the Majestic for a heavy cruiser. Then the Nebula and the endurance could come in later with the MC90

We could use these and not have to hunt around for pictured for our ships. Also Your design looks good maybe it can be a tempest thing to pair with the Vindertan.

I know we don't really need more ship classes. And to an extent I agree. But we are running out of old ships. If were are going to build one from the frame up why not improve and design something. Which is what happened EU.

Now We do not have the resources the NR had but we still have the research and design people. We may not be able to build an entire fleet of New Class Vesels like the NR but we can build a production run of a few of them.
