Its going to be in 3D :)

I mention this only so I can read Droo's amazing rage post about it. :3

Ugh, Baz Luhrmann? That hack that came up with that utter tripe called Australia, is this the crap that's been disrupting some of my favorite riding routes?!?!?

Nah, why bother just antagonizing Droo with 3D, I should say what I really think about Moulin Rouge, his fury would be heard around the world :D

Back in your boxes, you two! :mad

I'm fine with 3D as long as I don't have to endure it, which is exactly why I've been ranting about it lately, as Prometheus is only releasing early in 3D and 3D IMAX, and not seeing it on opening day is going to kill me.

As for The Great Gatsby, I'm completely ignorant of the story so I don't have any idea what to expect, but this looks typically Luhrmann in its vibrancy and dynamic style. After seeing the trailer, I can't say I'll be running to the theatre, based on what I saw of the story, but I'm sure I'll catch it at some point or other, if only for Carey Mulligan. :love

+1 to the Carey Mulligan love. :love

Certainly looks stylish if nothing else. I saw the 70s version with Redford & co. and was bored to tears so hopefully this'll be an improvement.

I had to LOL at the credits in the trailer though - it shows Luhrmann's name then lists him as the director of 'Romeo & Juliet and Moulin Rouge'. What, no 'Australia'? Methinks the studios want to forget that adventure. :lol

I never had a problem with being bored by the Redford version. I guess the story of Gatsby has always been a thing that interests me.

Christin hates it though.

I'm going to be there on opening night. Fitzgerald is one of my favorite writers. And some of the imagery from trailer just sends chills down my back, especially the aging torn bilboard sign.

I enjoyed studying the book at uni, so I'll most likely see this one in the cinema :) though probably not opening night.

EDIT: We have a release date: May 10, 2013

I'm so torn. I love Carey Mulligan but I haaaaaaaaaaate DiCaprio with a fiery passion. The Great Gatsby is one of my favourite books but the trailers don't look as though the film has captured the distinctive feel of the narrative. And I've just seen my first 3D film (and first IMAX) and spent the first half hour rubbing my eyes in a vain attempt to see what was going on instead of just a fuzzy blur, ugh.

Might have to wait to rent this one. :(
