The networks are looking at pilots and deciding which ones to pick up, or not, as the case may be. I always find it fascinating to read about new shows and who's starring, and which ones get picked up. It's sort of a fun guessing game.

For one, it looks like NBC is going to be doing a Scrabble move, where it turns in all it's tiles for new ones. 30 Rock, Parks N Rec, and Community are all ordered for 13 episode FINAL seasons for next fall. They're picking up a lot of new shows. I think they're just going to be throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks.

I'll edit in the picked up shows to this post in a bit.

The Following and Arrow are the only two that jump out at me.

It'll be interesting to see what the CW learned from Smallville, and how they'll apply that to a character who isn't meant to be sunshine and rainbows. Smallville vastly improved the more DC universe they introduced as well; I wonder if they'll get the jump on that early, or if they're just planning to run around in the (admittedly underused) Green Arrow cadre of characters.

I'm hoping the new Shawn Ryan show gets picked up soon, about a nuclear submarine that declares independence and becomes it's own nation. Andre Braugher is in it (I think that's his last name).

Also I'm in for Revolution and The Following. Kevin Bacon on TV? He and his wife must have had a deal where once her show was off the air he'd get a TV show. :p

edit: here it is, it's a possible ABC show, but they haven't announced yet.

Last Resort*

Last Resort looks amazing, I'm def. going to be watching it. Scott Speedman ON MY TELEVISION. GET IN HERE. And Andre Braugher is really good.

There's something about The Neighbors that cracks me up, it could either be really funny or just terrible. I'll check it out though.

Okay CBS announced their new schedule. They canned CSI: Miami, so it looks like David Caruso is... *puts on sunglasses*

...out of work.

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Okay, anyway.

Vegas
Dennis Quaid (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) and Michael Chiklis (Daddio) star in Vegas, a drama inspired by the true story of former Las Vegas Sheriff Ralph Lamb, a fourth-generation rancher tasked with bringing order to Las Vegas in the 1960s, a gambling and entertainment mecca emerging from the tumbleweeds. Ralph Lamb (Quaid) wants to be left in peace to run his ranch, but Las Vegas is now swelling with outsiders and corruption, which are intruding on his simple life. Recalling Lambís command as a military police officer during World War II, the Mayor appeals to his sense of duty to look into the murder of a casino worker, and so begins Lambís clash with Vincent Savino (Chiklis), a ruthless Chicago gangster who plans to make Vegas his own. Assisting Lamb in keeping law and order are his two deputies: his diplomatic, even-keeled brother Jack (Jason OíMara, Terra Nova) and his charming but impulsive son, Dixon (Taylor Handley, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning). Ambitious Assistant District Attorney Katherine OíConnell (Carrie-Anne Moss, The Matrix), who grew up on the ranch next to the Lambs, also lends a hand in preserving justice. In Vegas, two powerful menóLamb and Savinoóare engaged in a fierce battle for control of the budding oasis, and for both of them, folding is not an option. Nicholas Pileggi, Greg Walker, Cathy Konrad, Arthur Sarkissian, and James Mangold, who also directed the pilot, are the executive producers for CBS Television Studios.

Elementary
Elementary stars Jonny Lee Miller (Eli Stone) as detective Sherlock Holmes and Lucy Liu (Ecks vs Sever) as Dr. Joan Watson in a modern-day drama about a crime-solving duo that cracks the NYPDís most impossible cases. Following his fall from grace in London and a stint in rehab, eccentric Sherlock escapes to Manhattan where his wealthy father forces him to live with his worst nightmare, a sober companion, Dr. Watson. A successful surgeon until she lost a patient and her license three years ago, Watson views her current job as another opportunity to help people, as well as paying a penance. However, the restless Sherlock is nothing like her previous clients. He informs her that none of her expertise as an addiction specialist applies to him, and heís devised his own post-rehab regimen, resuming his work as a police consultant in New York City. Watson has no choice but to accompany her irascible new charge on his jobs. But Sherlock finds her medical background helpful, and Watson realizes she has a knack for playing investigator. Sherlockís police contact, Capt. Tobias ìTobyî Gregson (Aidan Quinn), knows from previous experience working with Scotland Yard that Sherlock is brilliant at closing cases, and welcomes him as part of the team. With the mischievous Sherlock Holmes now running free in New York solving crimes, itís simple deduction that heís going to need someone to keep him grounded, and itís elementary that itís a job for Watson. Rob Doherty, Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly, and Michael Cuesta, who directed the pilot, are executive producers for CBS Television Studios.

Made in Jersey
Made In Jersey is a drama about a young working-class woman who uses her street smarts to compete among her pedigreed Manhattan colleagues at a prestigious New York law firm. Martina Garretti (Janet Montgomery, Human Target) finds her firmís cutthroat landscape challenging, but what she lacks in an Ivy League education she more than makes up for with tenacity and blue-collar insight. After just a few weeks, firm founder Donovan Stark (Kyle MacLachlan, Desperate Housewives), takes note of Martinaís ingenuity and resourcefulness, as does her sassy secretary Cyndi Vega (Toni Trucks Pizza With Bullets). With the support of her big, Italian family, including her sexy older sister Bonnie (Erin Cummings, Detroit 1-8-7), Martina is able to stay true to her roots as a bold, passionate lawyer on the rise in a new intimidating environment. Jamie Tarses, Kevin Falls, Julia Franz, and Mark Waters, who also directed the pilot, are the executive producers for Sony Pictures Television in association with CBS Television Studios. Pilot was written by creator and co-executive producer Dana Calvo.

Made in Jersey seems like a blah show, another procedural with a bit of a twist for CBS, but it'll do well for them like all their other procedurals do. I think they're pairing this with Blue Bloods on Friday nights, which is a good move. I get a Legally Blonde from New Jersey vibe and it could be pretty fun. I won't have time to waste to watch it but I'm sure other people will. :)

Vegas looks pretty awesome. Dennis Quaid on my TV? Michael Chiklis is pretty awesome too, so I've heard. ;) Don't get me started on Carrie Ann Moss. Vegas is pretty awesome! Conclusion: should be awesome

Elementary is probably going to be awful but I'm going to watch it anyway. I like Sherlock Holmes, and while BBC's Sherlock is probably superior to this effort in every way, I'm going to give it a chance. Until my DVR is too full and I have to jettison the episodes, or I have a schedule conflict. :uhoh

CBS didn't change much at all for their schedule, but then, they are doing pretty well and don't really need to experiment wildly like NBC does. They picked up a comedy as well, Partners ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-ylFVSGItU&feature=relmfu ).

edit: the place I copied the descriptions from put in humorous (things this actor has been in before) into the text from CBS, so that's why they're credited for obscure things, :lol

I sort of skipped linking or talking about most of the comedies/sitcoms, but FOX has a midseason show, The Goodwin Games which has a definite "Wes Anderson" feel to it and looks like a lot of fun.
