What are you drinking and how tasty is it? :D
I'm having a Coebergh Classic bessen and tonic.
Apparently Coebergh is the number one liquer brand in the Netherlands, and very popular with women there. I can see why, it's very nice!

NZ Sauv blancs are probably my favorite white wines. South African and Chilean ones are good too, but not as good. What flavors are dominant in that one? I like one that's grassy and a little astringent.

...green apple? That'd be the best I can describe it.
According to the website it's:
Lifted fruit characters of pineapple and grapefruit with secondary notes of green pepper and freshly cut nettle aromas.
Which... doesn't sound too wrong either. It's fruity without being OVERPOWERINGOMGFRUIT. So I'm really digging on it.

Ok that works because you tasting green apple makes sense with what they're saying. And yeah, no SV is gonna be cloying sweet they're all fairly dry creatures.
I still can't session them solo. It's a strictly food pairing desire of mine.

I started with a bud light, but Jones and Dee gave me a lecture about how I should be drinking cocktails instead of bad beer, so I went and made a rum and coke. Had three in total, then I made that crazy strawberry rum concoction that was nothing but a lot of rum and some pulsed strawberries. I had a lot of that one.

Ok so I'm just making shit up right now:
Taataani
1 shot gin
1 shot cointreau
1 shot campari
juice from one lemon
soda water to top
Shake liquor and lemon juice with ice in a shaker, strain into collins glass filled with ice. Top up with soda water. Garnish with lemon slice.
Calling it the Taataani because it's bright pink & yellow, delightful to look at, and decently sweet, but the gin and the campari will slap the shit out of you if you step out of line.
Taataani Meorrrei
May 19th, 2012, 01:08:55 PM
The Interloper
2 shots Reposado Tequila
1/2 shot Campari
1/2 shot simple syrup
Juice from 2 limes
Shake with ice in tumbler, strain over ice in an old fashioned glass with a salted rim. Garnish with lime slice.
A little bit of class and a little bit of crazy, but this is seriously a good drink and I highly recommend it.

Sheldon Esalis
May 22nd, 2012, 07:07:10 PM
If it's two or more ingredients, its a cocktail. Some people say that if its just 2 ingredients in a highball, its a mixer instead. Since you're finishing that one off with a twist and serving it in a flute, I think it's pretty firmly a cocktail.

May 23rd, 2012, 03:13:27 AM
Huh, okay. Booze + Mixer doesn't really seem worthy of the title, somehow. It's like calling yourself a chef when all you do is make sandwiches. :\
Edit:
Just did some poking around the internet. Apparently a cocktail is supposed to have two or more ingredients, one of which is a spirit - ie. not wine, beer, or cider. However, the International Bartenders Association includes a lot of "wine cocktails" in it's official list of cocktails. They're not proper cocktails, but they're called cocktails because they seem like they are: it's like koalas not actually being real bears, or something.
It's one of those "I do not think it means what you think it means" scenarios, where the word is generally accepted to mean something that it doesn't semantically mean.
Stupid bloody English language. :grumble

I had something similar in Quebec once...it was coffee (don't remember what kind), Kahlua, and Frangelico (cannot for the life of me remember what the hell it was called, but I'd just fallen into a fountain before I had it). But yeah, alot of flavored liqueurs would work. I might go with something chocolatey though...hmm.
