Avengers makes 200 million

I figure this deserves its own thread. I never thought that was possible. Sure, I thought it could beat Potter's record but 200 million is kind of unbelievable. So how much will it do? I am sure it will be somewhat frontloaded. I am going to guess around 550 right now which is just an amazing number. WW it is doing great and will probably make 600-650 OS and finish around 1.2 billion.

I was actually shocked as well. I had heard estimates of $150-160 million, but $200 million? *faints* :eek

Of course, the higher ticket prices for 3D contributed to it, but still...critical acclaim plus fantastic word of mouth is going to keep it going on extremely strong legs. It's got great repeat business possibilities.

Just checked Box Office Mojo, final totals show it did even better than estimated, for a total of $207.45 million for the weekend.

I read online today that they're speculating the movie could very well make over $100 million this weekend, which is basically unheard of. Dark Shadows is giving it no major competition.

Just checked BOM, estimated $103.2 million on its second weekend. Wow. :eek

I'm pretty much in love with The Avengers as a movie - I think she's perfect, and I'm pretty much blind to all the flaws that people insist she has. (It's true love, folks. :love)
