Let's see. We've got Intel which has spooks, spies, agents, counter-intel, insurgency operators, etc.

We've got the Navy where you can drive a big ship, shoot a big gun, and have a meaningful relationship with Steve.

You could fly a fighter which is 300% more survivable than flying one for the Empire.

You could be in the special forces which involves multiple tours of ground duty and probably a venereal disease.

Stuff, you know.

With that out of my system, there's all sorts of Rebel you can be; or, if you'd like, you can even see about playing a kid who gets picked up by the Rebellion, almost like Skywalker (who is DEAD; D-E-D, DEAD).

You can be cool like Onashi and merc up the Rebel Alliance. We do all the dirty stuff the Rebels are too moral for, but still has to be done. We're the Goodfellas in Goodfellas. We'll be burying bodies on the sides of highways... we don't even care! A bottle booze and a three piece suit!

SpecOps routinely hires mercs, because they have a fondness for people who think outside the box, can do the unorthodox, and are pathologically incapable of following orders.

SpecForce on the other hand is more of an elite military affair - marines, commandos, delta force, and that kind of thing. They're a lot cooler, and have considerably better personal hygiene... but in theory it's more of a professional "follow orders" type situation.

Not that the people I work with are all that professional. :grumble

Nah you can post in the main forum and wherever really. Make sure to tag your thread appropriately that's gonna be the big thing. Open threads are for whoever to join. Closed threads you've made arrangements with other posters and don't want others to join. Faction-specific threads let people know what type of characters will be welcome, and they can try to integrate themselves if possible.

Also. Read read read read and read. Get a feel for how things are around here and it'll help greatly in the long run. Choose a handful of threads in the RPing forum and spend some time going through them.

Ha! Dalamar, really? That's pretty sweet, he's an awesome guy to RP with. If you want some great posts that your uncle did, look at the craziness he and my sister wrote up a few years back. It's an awesome read, set in the star wars universe, but doesn't have star wars feel at all.
