I have a plan to introduce Salem to the Rebel Alliance. It's quite simple.

Salem is in possession of a number of "relics" of the Jedi Order, pre-Purge. One of these relics of a communicator of some kind, or an alarm. Exactly what it is doesn't matter so much as what it does: responds to a beacon somewhere else in the galaxy, a beacon set off by a Jedi who has survived the Purge and is attempting to contact their former allies.

Salem will follow the signal to its source, but he will not be the only one who tracks it. Another Jedi (or perhaps Jedi plural) also managed to intercept the signal and end up crossing paths with Salem... who will feign innocence, of course :angel

How his relationship with the Alliance/Jedi develops is something that I have already thought about in a fair amount of detail, but I'm also open to the possibility that there will be unexpected happenings.

Heh, Hal - being most decidedly pre-purge - would have an old style communicator on him, and it would go off if the beacon was activated.

Not sure what he'd do about it, but he's at the Wheel, so he could at least hand it off to someone there if anyone on the Wheel wants to go check it out. And maybe he could come along to get his feet wet again, so to speak.

Just throwing that out there.

It might be cool if Hal comes along as a "I missed the last 100 years / I want to see the galaxy / ROAD TRIP!" type thing. If he's the one who picked up the signal in the first place, he could even hold that over the others to make sure he gets to come?

Assuming you want to hang out with the Awesome Club of course. If you're not cool enough for it though, we totally understand.

I guess I can post again if no one else is going to, but it might feel a bit forced/contrived. I don't really know what the objective of this thread is beyond "have Salem meet some Jedi", so all I can do at this point is emerge dramatically from the trees. :\

The ultimate objective is to go back to meet up with the other Jedi... but before that the side-objective is to either save or damn the Nautolan Jedi who actually set off the beacon (the guy that Salem is very close to killing) and have first contact between the Jedi group and Salem.

I don't want to force people to post to anything, but I would love to finish this if we can.

If not, anyone who doesn't want to continue, please let me know so I can work out how this ends.

I'm still a bit hazy on what is meant to be going down.

Presumably this can't be a hostile encounter, because you want Salem to ingratiate himself with the Wheel. There needs to be a face-to-face conversation to pull that off - presumably with Inyos or Ilias, since they were both part of the Jedi Order at the same time as Salem - but at the moment we've set ourselves up with a fair bit of tension. I'm not sure how I can get past that tension without it feeling like a total cop-out.

I don't think we ever worked out if Salem and Inyos know each other. Do you want to have a scuffle during which one of them recognises the other? Do you want Inyos to arrive in the trees above and recognise Salem, but then get Captain America'd to the ground by a thrown lightsaber or somesuch, so that he has to convince Salem that he's friendly while on the defensive? Do you want one of the Padawans to blunder into the clearing, forcing Inyos to leap to the rescue?

This is your character and your plot arc - I think the rest of us are waiting to hear what you want to get out of it, which is perhaps why we've been hesitant to push the story forward too much.

A scuffle wouldn't be out of the question. Salem won't recall Inyos or Ilias as clearly as either of them might recall him, though he has sensed that they are Force users. Whether they are friendlies or hostiles remains to be seen.

It would be interesting to see them clash, actually. If you'd like to have Inyos pull a Captain America, that has the potential to be hella fun - and also sow some seeds of concern in Inyos perhaps.

It's very much likely that I'm overdue to post in that thread (not to mention a few other threads, but that's beside the point...). And at any rate, I've been meaning to post to it. However, I have a business law midterm first thing on Tuesday morning and an accounting assignment that requires a minimum of 10 hours of work due at around 11pm on the 28th.

So if I manage myself well enough, posting should not be an issue. If I take the more predictable route, I'll be screwing around all weekend and doing everything at the last possible minute. :lol

I can post if you need me to, but I'm not really sure what Inyos should be doing. Salem and his friend are still an unknown quantity: they haven't done anything threatening, so there's no reason to presume that Yolie is in any danger... but they haven't done anything to make themselves seem safe and friendly, either. Right now, Inyos is up in a tree: he has the high ground, and has the tactical advantage of no one having noticed that he's there yet. I haven't posted as yet, because I haven't really felt that there's anything I can contribute as Inyos at this point.

If I'm the only person who can post then I will, but it would be helpful to have some suggestions on what you think I should be doing.
