Yes indeed, my fiancee and I are now living in our first house together after spending the last week moving everything in. We still have a lot of sorting out to do but all our stuff is in and its just a case of unpacking and settling in.

We're getting Sky installed next week with the phoneline and broadband to follow several days after. So I will likely have limited internet access for the next two weeks and, other than my phones 3G, will pnly have access in work or at my mums when I visit.

Thinks are looking good in the job department. If you remember my thread about my redundancy, its going ahead a month earlier. I shall be finishing at Virgin the end of this month but will be paid for April as well as bonus and redundancy pay. If I manage to secure a job in the next 2 weeks, all that could be money in my pocket. I had an email from a HR person at Talk Talk and she said there's a vacancy that may interest me. I've told her the best times to call me next week so she can discuss the role in more detail so fingers crossed. Hopefully everything will fall into place over the next fortnight.

Wish me luck, both in job hunting as well as the adventure that is my new home (spent £165 on our very first trip to Tesco - had to get a cab for what would have been a 7 minute walk!)

Fantastic news, Peter! Really glad to hear things are on the up for you. :)

The first shopping trip is always a killer. You don't realise how much random out-of-mind stuff there is dotted around a house until you move into an empty one and have to buy it all. :uhoh

Good luck with the job hunt too - I've got my fingers, toes, and all other multiple extremities crossed for you, mate!

I probably spent about ~2k when I moved on stuff, although a third of it was a TV.

Thanks guys. I've been so tired this weekend. I'm glad to be in work for a rest, lol.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean I have to act like one! The first thing I set up was my TV so I threw on Star Trek Voyager, donned an umbrella hat and started dancing around the house with the theme tune on full blast.

The good thing is a lot of the expensive stuff didn't come out of our pocket. My mum and dad bought us a new bed and mattress, gave us their 3-seater and 2 seater sofa, and my 2006-ish Christmas present was a 40-inch Full HD TV so they've all helped to save the pennies.

Furniture was actually where I've spent the least money. We got a free couch from my roommate's folks, $50 2 and 3 seater couches, and a convertible futon for free. I already had a bed and dresser. I did buy a pair of nightstands, lamps, 5 trash bins, and a desk from ikea for about $260 total, a vacuum cleaner, a drill, a 24' ladder, a small entertainment shelf, power paint rollers, paint/supplies. It keeps going.
