Some very brief episode summaries for the first 4 eps of season 4:

[ Episode 1, "Two Swords"

Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) welcomes a guest to King's Landing. At Castle Black, Jon Snow (Kit Harington) finds himself unwelcome. Dany (Emilia Clarke) is pointed to Meereen, the mother of all slave cities. Arya (Maisie Williams) runs into an old friend.

Episode 2, "The Lion and the Rose"

Tyrion lends Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) a hand. Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) and Margaery (Natalie Dormer) host a breakfast. At Dragonstone, Stannis (Stephen Dillane) loses patience with Davos (Liam Cunningham). Ramsay (Iwan Rheon) finds a purpose for his pet. North of the Wall, Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) sees where they must go.

Episode 3, "Breaker of Chains"

Tyrion ponders his options. Tywin (Charles Dance) extends an olive branch. Sam (John Bradley) realizes Castle Black isn't safe, and Jon proposes a bold plan. The Hound (Rory McCann) teaches Arya the way things are. Dany chooses her champion.

Episode 4, "Oathkeeper"

Dany balances justice and mercy. Jaime tasks Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) with his honor. Jon secures volunteers while Bran, Jojen (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), Meera (Ellie Kendrick) and Hodor (Kristian Nairn) stumble on shelter. ]

Am I the only books reader who is not sure if he wants to watch the next season since it might actually go beyond the books? Websites like Winter is Coming are now marking articles with spoiler tags for books readers and I do not dare to open them.

I don't know if you're the only one, but it doesn't personally bother me. I think the show is going to be significantly different from the books from here on out.

I mean, there hasn't even been any word on Victorion so I think the whole Iron Islands kingship subplot has been cut. It may end up in the same place as the books but I think it will take very different approach to getting there. I can't even imagine (adwd) Aegon coming into the show at all, but then who knows.

I think the Euron/Victorion plot is necessary for drawing "Where are my dragons" Danny out of Meeren and to Westeros. I just think they wont share the same hostile relationship between each other. Maybe they will even go as far and merge both characters by letting Euron steal the dragons first and then return to Westeros in order to rule the Iron Isles.

ADWD
Aegon VI might be brought to the story at any convenient time (just like in ADWD). His interaction with Tyrion is not really earth shattering for him. He might simply show up at Griffin's roast at the beginning of season 6. His whole purpose in ADWD is to distract Tyrion from masturbating (yes that scene is in there you know it) and thinking about where whores go. TWOW SpoilerWe know that Arianne Martell will meet Aegon VI for the first time at the beginning of the 6th book so maybe this is a good point to introduce him to the viewers as well. Plus you do not need to cast an actor for only half a season when he has got more important stuff to do in the following 2 seasons.End of TWOW Spoiler

What really shocks me about season 5 is that Arianne Martell has not been casted yet. Not only does she have the best twist in AFFC(actually she has the twist that makes the book worth reading) but she seems to be important for later as well unlike her brother Quentyn who could have easily died off camera on his hunt for Daenerys.

What really irritates me is that the High Sparrow will actually show up in the next season although I thought he would be one of the characters who could be easily skipped. I wonder if Ser Meryn Trant will get the honor to take the place of one of the Kettleblack brothers. This makes me wonder if Cersei will have as much "R-rated FUN" as she has in AFFC?

I think that (next season) [the High Sparrow is integral to Cersei's descent into madness and disgrace. Introducing him now (we have had Qyburn for a while after all) is good.]

The 'Iron Islands' stuff could be put off until next, next season. Season six? I think that makes sense from a TV point of view, so they're not throwing Dorne and all the Iron Islands characters at us at once. Man I hope they don't cut it, it DOES seem integral to the story (what with the horn that controls dragons and Dany being unable to control hers at all.).

edit: extra brackets keep the spoilers out of the activity stream

I finally sat down and watched the last episode of season 5 and the 1st episode of 6 this weekend. It's a bad idea, but I'm starting to have some hope for some of the characters. That's a really bad idea. It will be interesting to see how my hopes are destroyed this season.

It was nice to see an element from one of the earlier books work it's way back into the show at a different time for the character.

Finally, always love what they are doing with Brienne.

Also, sorry for the vague speak. Too lazy to look up how to do spoiler tags.

Love the series and also love how no character is safe in that world. Definitely curious to see how things play out this season with some of the characters. I actually tried reading one of the books and couldn't get into his style, but that's just me. lol

I can definitely see [ the Sparrow getting his head planted on a spike soon. Having Daenarys riding the dragon also makes that whole opportunity of taking Westeros more real now and when I saw that rider save them in the snow, something told me it was Uncle Benjin. :D Just wasn't expecting what he had been through. lol ]

Well, we could always start a new thread and specify in the OP that it is full of spoilers for the most recently aired episode of the show. Future (we are running out of book knowledge) or leaked events would still need to be spoiler tagged.

It was fantastic :D

[Sansa taking charge and ensuring a victory and killing Ramsey in a most satisfying way was brilliant. I really love how the Stark daughters have progressed this season. I'm glad Little Finger is doing right by Sansa after making a bone headed move. Like how could he not know Ramsey wouldn't be an ass to Sansa?

That battle was well done. I was on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen. They paced it so well that I didn't feel it was rushed at all.

Also the alliance with Yara and Dany is going to be very interesting indeed!]

"Battle of the Bastards"

[ That battle was amaaazing! What a cracking bit of action, better than most films manage. The scene with Jon getting almost crushed under all the bodies, gasping for air as he pulled himself out, was really tense. Even though you knew he was going to survive, deep down, there was a genuine sense of fear and claustrophobia to it all.

I'm so glad that Ramsay has gone now. He definitely, at least for me, outlasted his welcome. I did enjoy his dispatching of Rickon, as that felt like it was showing there is some intelligence to his malice, rather than just mindlessly hurting people - but it's good to be rid of him. We're left with a much more of a gray-scale when it comes to alignments now, and not knowing who 'the bad guy' is makes Game of Thrones much more fun.

:eek Season Finale:

[I can't believe that opening 20 minutes. Just incredible. What a move by Cersei - she finally grabs the power she's been trying to get her whole life, but AT WHAT COST. This is definitely her downfall. Poor Tommen. :cry

Confirmation of Jon's parentage (at least half of it, thanks to playing coy with the whispering) at last! Dany sets sail, looking for a husband! Benjen confirms the Wall keeps out the White Walkers with magic! Dorne and the Queen of Thorns - worth it just for her sniping at all the dumb Sand Snakes!

That look that Jamie gives newly crowned Cersei at the end...after she did what he killed the Mad King for attempting. I need next season now. NOW.

AND THE KING IN THE NORTH AAAA :supaburn: Lyanna Mormont is my favorite. :swoon: That look Littlefinger had - when Sansa wasn't in charge like he'd planned...and he finally laid out his great ambition to her, which we all knew but he never said out loud... Somehow I still want Littlefinger to come out on top. Not to sit on the throne, but to survive the show.

Also I predict next season ends with the Wall falling.]

I spent the week getting caught up on Game of Thrones, so I'm finally in sync with the rest of the world again. :uhoh

[Kinda interesting the way they gave us our epic battle climax last week, and our epic story climax for the finale. We're kinda at this point where everything is finally coming together. I love the way that Jon's story, Sansa's story, Bran's story, and Stannis' story have all culminated as Jon Starkgaryen, King in the North; and the way that Dorne and the Tyrells and the Ironborn have all converged into Team Danerys. There's a lot of symmetry between Aunt Danerys and her nephew Jon too - freeing the slaves and fighting the oppressive Masters, versus bringing equality for the Free Folk and fighting the oppressive Boltons.

And Cersei? I love the way that the story Tyrion told Danerys about the Mad King and his wildfire paid off with Cersei basically becoming a Disney villainess. The Mad Queen, I guess? With the Starks on Team Jon, and with Dorne and the Tyrells on Team Danerys, pretty much everyone is galvanised by some sort of personal hate towards Cersei for the evil that she's responsible for. It'll be really interesting to see what happens with Jamie next season... because (like Holly said) Cersei just did the thing that Jamie became the Kingslayer to prevent, and as a result of that their last remaining child is dead. Is it too late for him to be anything other than the Vader to Cersei's Palpatine, or will Tyrion or Brienne manage to appeal to his better nature and draw him over to one of the other sides?

Also, all this talk of Danerys needing to keep herself available for some sort of political marriage... interesting that was in there. Just a reason to make Daario stay in Essos, or is there going to be a political marriage on the cards? If so... who is left to marry? Jamie, if he leaves the Kings Guard? Jon, to bring an alliance between North and East, without realising who he is yet? Bran, so that he can mind control some dragons? Maybe Littlefinger, as a kind of "Sansa broke my heart" power grab betrayal?]

Oh, and also? [Lyanna Mormont. Seven blessings you, you adorable little badass.] :love

For the past few season's I've been thinking, "Oh Come ON! Get on with it already!"

Kinda glad now for the wait. Very nice story telling, very nice indeed.

Quick question for those who have read all the books. Are we past them all now? Or are there still things in the books that may/most likely will show up in the show?

I read several then stopped as I realized they were going different paths and didn't want to preload myself with any ideas.

Alright, I think I got it.

[ While rewatching the fleet taking off from slavers bay towards westeros I've been admiring the sails.
Black, Green, Gold.
Targaryen, Tyrell, Martell.

Then as I watched the dragons fly by
Black, Green, Gold.

From the GOT wikia:
Drogon, black with red markings.
Rhaegal, green with bronze markings.
Viserion, creamy white, with gold markings.

I've already thought about the Greyjoy's. I don't believe the Iron Islands have ever been a part of the 7 kingdoms. But I could be wrong. Or since there color is black it fits anyway.]

Anyway, something to think about. :)\
Plus one of the most bad ass ways to end a seaon. Not since Gus visited the old man in the nursing home in Breaking Bad have I been this excited to see what's coming next.

The Iron Islands were not one of the original Seven Kingdoms.

The North
The Stormlands
Dorne (last to be conquered and most independent)
The Reach
The Isles and Rivers (ruled from Harrenhall, was split into the Iron Islands [Greyjoys] and the Riverlands [Tullys])
The Vale
The Rock (Casterly Rock)

Several book things that I am still waiting for to happen are super natural stuff and crazy fan theories becoming true. WARNING HARDCORE SPOILERS!

-The two horns have not appeared yet: The horn of winter and the dragon horn
-Euron has not revealed himself as a guy who knows the dark arts
-Damphair has not abandoned Euron's camp yet
-Samwell is finally at the Citadel or as I call it Westerosi Hogwarts since a lot of hints GRRM has put into the book version of this is that he stumbles into a huge Maester conspiracy as Harry Potter, Jaquen Hagar is his Ron and the final missing Sandsnake is his Hermione
