I'd normally not promote the events of another site, but I was impressed by the effort enough to post this here (if only to show off some cool potential roleplays :)).

Put simply, BoardGameGeek (BGG), the Internet's largest database of boardgames, is currently concluding it's annual roleplay for average members (such as yours truly - my rogue failed a reflex role and was clobbered by a giant :(). Anyway, the roleplay was organised by members from it's sister site RPGGeek, who are planning to use event to springboard a whole bunch of 'Play-by-Forum RPGS for n00bs' in the coming weeks.

Here's the thread (currently locked and inactive as it hasn't started yet) listing all the planned roleplays thus far:

And here's the discussion thread concerning the whole thing:

Linky dinky (http://rpggeek.com/thread/735923/rpg-geek-get-involved-play-by-forum-for-newbies/page/1)

Thus far, the current scenarios are planned to be played:

Pathfinder
Dungeons & Dragons (including 4e, 3.5e, ye olde AD&D & Gamma World)
A Dirty World
Call of Cthulhu
Serenity :dance
Fighting Fantasy
Ghostbusters
Dragon Age
Trail of Cthulhu
InSpectres
Star Wars (both Wizard of the Coast and WEG editions)
Ghost/Echo
Fiasco
Savage Worlds
Doctor Who :dance
The One Ring

... plus more will be probably be added over the course of the next week prior to launch.

The roleplays will be run by GMs, and will utilise dice rollers (BGG has it's own inbuilt dice roller that can be added to posts), so it will be a tad different from how we roleplay here (more classic tabletop gaming style, less interactive storytelling style like here). But the concept seems so awesome I thought I'd share it in case anyone here was interested (whether it be participating, or shamelessly copying the ideas for here - whatever takes your fancy).

The initiative was intended for current BGG members, but there's nothing stopping you from registereing now and then signing up when it goes active. :)

Anywho, I hope to sign up when it goes live in the coming week - hopefully I fair better than my woeful rogue. >_< Feel free to 'Geek Friend' me - here's my profile (http://boardgamegeek.com/user/davwj).

That Serenity RPG is mighty tempting-like.

Just a quick heads up that this initiative will probably launch within the next day or so.

Bit of bad news - the Doctor Who roleplay has unfortunately been cancelled, however another GM has stepped up and offered a Warhammer roleplay in it's stead.
