Feel free to add to this thread with things that you are looking forward to in 2012 :)
***
The Diamond Jubilee - God bless the Queen! In 2012, it will be 60 years since Lizzie 2.0 parked her arse on the <strike>Iron</strike> Throne. There will be a maritime parade on the Thames, street parties all over the country and plenty of BBC footage of honest to goodness working class people waving flags and wearing paper crowns that were given away as free "memorabilia" with the special Jubilee edition of The Sun. Most importantly of all, we proud Britons will have a four-day weekend off work! Rule Britannia!
The 2012 Summer Olympics - in spite of the fact that right now it feels as if the Olympics will be an utter shambles, that our opening ceremony doesn't have a teacakes chance in hell of beating Bejing's and that I am still bitter that I didn't get the tickets I wanted, I will be glued to the BBC on July 27th when the London 2012 Olympics kicks off!
The Mayan Calendar Ends - ...and with it the world may or may not come to its untimely end. The Mayans penciled in December 21st as the end of their Long Count Calendar, so that gives us an entire year of speculating as to whether or not this will indeed be our last year on Earth. Does this mean that mankind will seize the opportunity to make the most of its time on this Earth, or will we spend the twilight of our species watching reality TV and playing Angry Birds on our new quad-core smart-phones?
Your Birthday - Depending on whether your birthday is pre or post end of the world, 2012 may be the year in which you officially become one year older. In spite of this occurring every year since the dawn of time, the novelty has yet to wear off.

Being 25 - I thought that once I passed 21, I'd finally be an adult as far as this country is concerned, but nooooo. Apparently I need to hit a quarter of a century for some stuff.
Admittedly, I forgot I was even 24 until yesterday. >_<
Mass Effect 3 - I've never been the type to eagerly anticipate the release of a computer game before, but holy crap BioWare: why did you have to release Star Wars: The Old Republic and Mass Effect 3 within a few months of each other? :ohno
The Avengers - Okay, so maybe I'm a bit too succeptable to becoming a fanboy of things, but I have loved absolutely everything that Marvel Studios has churned out the last couple of years. I am so eagerly looking forward to seeing what Joss Whedon has pulled off.
More Doctor Who - Because Jenny should be ashamed for not mentioning that herself. ;)
The last transit of Venus - No, this isn't a really weird indie movie: it's a science geek thing. From our perspective, Venus will pass in front of the sun: there will be a small black circle on the sun where another planet blocks it out. This is the last time it will happen this century: it won't happen again until 2117. Unfortunately you need to be around the Pacific to witness it... but there's something cool about the thought that something won't happen again until my great, great grand-kids are rocking about.
Figured we needed a little more nerd up in this thread, and was perfectly-suited to oblige. ;)

:o tell us more.
Had lunch with a long time friend of mine last week who lives down in the NC area. He mentioned him and a few of his friends were planning on going to Dragon*Con, and asked if I would be interested. If I can plan vacation time, visit my brother before or after, then it might be a possibility I will be there in some form!

Schweet. If it looks like you're going to be there, we will have to trade phone numbers since a big crew of us have booked (party) rooms at the Sheraton.

Dying of exposure in Europe will be grand.
Possibly being in a Naional Geographic special (best theme music ever)
Catching Mumford & Sons live, hopefully. (Fingers crossed for a UK tour)

Generally enjoying the opportunities finally being afforded in my career. 2012 is my favourite so far, in terms of plans.
